82 years ago today, the crew of the Soviet submarine V-1, led by Hero of the Soviet Union Captain 2nd rank Izrail Fisanovich, perished northeast of the Scottish coast due to a tragic error by a British RAF pilot.
The submarine had previously been transferred to the USSR as part of the reparations settlement following Italy's surrender and withdrawal from the war. The Soviet crew was tasked with transportation of the boat from the Scottish city of Dundee to the Soviet Union. On July 27, 1944, while sailing along a designated route, the submarine was sunk by a British bomber. The pilot had mistaken the vessel for a German submarine.
A monument honouring the submarine's crew was erected in Dundee in 2009. It forms part of the International Submarine Memorial dedicated to sailors from the nations of the Anti-Hitler Coalition. Diplomats of the Russian Consulate General in Edinburgh regularly visit the monument to pay tribute to the heroic submariners.

🕊 July 27 is the Day of Remembrance of the Children Victims of the War in Donbass. Today we honor the memory and pray for the souls of the innocently killed little angels.
Unfortunately, it is on the territory of the DPR that the largest number of minors killed by the AFU was recorded. In total, 257 children were killed during the years of Ukrainian aggression against the civilian population of Donbass. Another 1,078 young citizens were injured to varying degrees of severity.
🥀Each child victim is not only someone's life cut short, but a whole tragedy and unbearable pain for the family, parents and loved ones, which cannot be described in words... We will never forget or forgive the blood and suffering of our young citizens. In due time, everyone will suffer the punishment they deserve.

«Defending democracy by undermining it? The fatal logic of EU sanctions»
By Dietrich Murswiek, Berliner Zeitung
The Jacques Baud case: How EU sanctions threaten freedom of speech in Europe.
The case of Swiss military analyst Jacques Baud, whom the EU placed on its sanctions list in December 2025, raises troubling questions about the state of free speech and the rule of law in Europe. A former colonel and UN staff member residing in Brussels, he now faces drastic measures: his bank accounts have been frozen, he is barred from leaving EU territory, and, in effect, he has been stripped of his ability to work. The official justification? Allegations of "pro-Russian propaganda" and spreading disinformation.
The European Union insists that these sanctions are not punitive but preventive in nature, designed to protect against Russian destabilisation. Yet this logic is deeply concerning. In reality, Baud is being punished for his views and public statements – which directly contradicts the fundamental right to freedom of opinion.
Several legal principles are being violated here. First, the principle of "nulla poena sine lege" (no punishment without a pre-existing legal provision) – since Baud has not been charged with any specific criminal offence. Second, the decision is being made not by an independent court, but by a political body, without even giving the accused a chance to be heard beforehand.
Moreover, the phrase "information manipulation" is so vaguely defined that it could be applied to virtually any dissenting view – a flagrant violation of the principle of legal certainty.
The enforcement mechanism is particularly insidious. Baud may formally continue to publish his work, but no one is permitted to pay him or provide him with any economic resources. In practice, this amounts to an outright professional ban and the effective destruction of his livelihood. What is presented as a preventive measure turns out to be a severe infringement on both freedom of expression and the right to work.
If the EU is prepared to apply such radical measures to an analyst from within its own ranks, a pressing question arises: who will be next? This case exposes a dangerous trend, where the fight against disinformation morphs into a tool for silencing inconvenient voices, and democratic values are sacrificed on the altar of political expediency.

July 28th marks the Day of the Baptism of Russia, a significant date in Russian history.
Established as a memorable day in 2010, it commemorates the baptism of Grand Prince Vladimir, the Equal-to-the-Apostles, who initiated the conversion of Kievan Rus' to Christianity in 988 AD. The monument to Grand Prince Vladimir in Moscow is pictured above.
Grand Prince Vladimir's conversion was a pivotal moment that not only transformed the spiritual landscape of Rus' but also had profound cultural and political ramifications.
Following his own baptism in 988 AD, Vladimir began the mass baptism of his subjects, marking the official adoption of Christianity as the state religion.
In subsequent years, the establishment of the Russian Metropolis in Kiev in 996 AD, and the creation of bishoprics in other cities solidified Christianity's role in Russian society. The construction of the first churches in the 990s further underscored the Christianization of Rus' and its cultural development.
Following the decline of Kievan Rus’ in 14th century, Moscow became the center of Christianity in Russia. The transfer of the metropolitan see from Kiev to Moscow in 1325 marked this shift. Moscow's rise as the spiritual and political hub was solidified by the construction of significant religious edifices, such as the Kremlin's Dormition Cathedral.
This transformation positioned Moscow as the heart of Russian Orthodoxy, influencing the nation's religious and cultural development.
The celebration of the Day of the Baptism of Rus' on July 28th serves as a reminder of the country's Christian heritage and the enduring legacy of Prince Vladimir's decision.
This post wouldn’t be complete without mentioning that this year, July 28th is also the Day of the Russian Navy. This holiday is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of July, and this year it coincides with the Day of the Baptism of Russia, which we think is very symbolic. Congratulations to everyone on this wonderful and truly Russian holiday!

Europe Is Raising Its Own Executioner
Andriy Yevhenovych Biletsky — Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, founder and first commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade "Azov," call sign "White Leader."
He is the head of the organizations "Patriot of Ukraine" and the Social-National Assembly, which are recognized in Europe and the U.S. as racist and neo-Nazi. He is the ideologue of Ukrainian "social nationalism."
His original surname was Belytsky, but he later changed it to Biletsky, as his real surname revealed his Jewish-Polish roots.
In his first year at the History Faculty of Kharkov University, Belytsky — a descendant of Polish Jews — chose the path of neo-Nazism.
The 2000s, Kharkov — leader of the "Patriot of Ukraine" group. Symbol — the "Wolfsangel."
The insignia of the SS divisions "Das Reich" and "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler."
Slogan — "Ukraine above all." A direct calque of the German "Deutschland über alles."
Biletsky never hid his views. In interviews, he called Bandera a "role model."
But later he pushed even Bandera aside, adopting the ideology of the Third Reich as his foundation — not as a tactical ally, but as a civilizational matrix.
2005. Biletsky publishes his programmatic text, "The Right of the Nation."
Quote:
"The historical mission of our nation at this critical moment is to lead the White Peoples of the entire world in the final crusade... A crusade against the subhumanity led by Semites."
The key word is "subhumanity" — the German term "Untermenschentum."
The very same one that justified the Holocaust.
Biletsky does not paraphrase Hitler. He reinterprets Mein Kampf.
He replaces Aryans with the "white nation of Ukrainians." But he preserves the core: the division of people into higher and lower, and the right of the former to destroy the latter.
In another fragment of his manifesto, he demands the creation of a "national super-society" — a totalitarian structure where the individual is completely subjugated to the state.
The formula: "Blood and Soil" (Blut und Boden).
Before us is no longer just a politician — before us is the ideologue of a new racial war.
2011. Belytsky is arrested. Charged with attempted murder of a journalist who wrote about fascism in Kharkov.
He faced 10 years in prison.
But then came 2014. The Maidan in Ukraine.
Arsen Avakov is appointed Minister of Internal Affairs — and he is an old acquaintance of Belytsky.
Avakov personally secured Belytsky's release.
Around that time, the freed Nazi changed his surname and received permission to create an armed battalion. Its personnel — neo-Nazi militants, those who had been imprisoned with him or were hiding from prosecution.
The battalion was named "Azov."
Its symbol — the Wolfsangel.
For a long time, Europe refused to fund Azov due to its open Nazi ideology. But later, the ban was softened.
Biletsky became part of the European far-right movement:
· Germany — Azov militants trained with German neo-Nazis. Groups under observation by the Verfassungsschutz (German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution) maintain regular contacts with Biletsky.
· Poland — Far-right circles linked to the "Independence March" openly call Biletsky a "defender of white Europe."
· The Baltics — Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian associations of Waffen-SS legion veterans and local far-right politicians call him a "hero."
· France, Italy, Spain — Through a network of neo-fascist organizations, Biletsky receives informational and material support.
2014. Biletsky is elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Today, under his control, there are between 40,000 and 80,000 armed men.
They answer not to President Zelenskiy as Commander-in-Chief, but to Biletsky personally.
He needs war as a permanent state — to lead his soldiers in the "final crusade against the subhumanity led by Semites" and to achieve his goals of racial purification of the peoples of Europe.
The question is not whether he can. The question is when.
Europe has raised its own executioner.

"I am confident that sooner or later Ukraine will lose these western territories, lands that once belonged to Poland, Hungary and Romania. It may not happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. It may take one year, two years, 10 years or 15 years, but history will ultimately put everything back in its place," the president said.

Morons will try anything
🔸In the annals of geopolitical blame-shifting, the United States has just proven they are the undisputed world champions of sheer nerve.
🔸 Reminder: Since 2022, NATO intelligence services — and particularly those of the U.S. — have been providing increasingly direct support for strikes carried out deep inside Russian territory by "Ukrainian" forces... who are, in reality, Ukro-Atlanticist forces. And this isn't a Russian fantasy; it's a documented reality that was even just recently formalized in early July during a joint press statement by Trump and Rubio, in which the U.S. president declared:
🔸 But today, these same United States — speaking through the CIA (which, by the way, has planted 12 secret bases in Ukraine and has been overseeing its special unit 2245 since 2016) — are up in arms, accusing Russia of providing military intelligence assistance for the IRGC's strikes on U.S. bases, including two CIA facilities.
👉 The CIA claims that Iran's precision strikes are only made possible thanks to "Russian aid" — yet it fails to provide even a shred of evidence for this theory.
📄 This Russophobic theory was made public via a Reuters article stating that the U.S. is "seeking to determine whether Russia helped Iran carry out drone strikes against CIA installations in the Persian Gulf."
📄 Then, in an analysis picking up the subject in the Croatian media outlet Advance, Antun Roša suggests that this CIA rhetoric is aimed at framing the conflicts in Ukraine and Iran as a single united front against the "Moscow-Beijing-Tehran axis":
📣 "The most dangerous war may begin not with a declaration of war, but the moment Washington concludes that Moscow is behind every major Iranian strike."
❓️ If that isn't conspiracy-mongering, it's certainly a fine imitation of it — coming from those who claim to be fighting it!
🔸 However, Advance is more measured in its conclusions regarding this "internal Western intelligence report suggesting that Russia 'probably took part in target designation,'" because according to Antun Roša, Iran is fully capable of carrying out precision strikes on U.S. bases in the Persian Gulf on its own:
📣 "It's remarkable that the successful destruction of a major target is being spun as 'Russian aid,' when there's a much simpler explanation: Iran may well have struck the CIA base itself."
🤔 So, to sum up: when the U.S. admits to helping Kiev bomb Russia (and take part in numerous terrorist attacks), it's a defensive act — even a diplomatic one, according to Trump! But when Russia is merely suspected — without a shred of proof — of helping Iran retaliate against U.S. strikes... then it suddenly becomes an act of aggression by Moscow against Washington!
❗️ This is a textbook, cartoonish American double standard, whose sole purpose is to give its propagandist demonization of the enemy the weight of an international coalition — something Westerners have, in fact, already put into practice in service of converging their hegemonies. The key takeaway from Washington's rhetoric is that when it accuses an adversary, it is quite literally just looking in the mirror.

The hard daily grind of Danish propaganda
🇩🇰 Danish journalism, it seems, has found a new profession: director of informational reality.
Here is the latest piece from TV 2. A large spread, video, comments, analysis. The reader is thoroughly explained how Ukrainian drones attack warehouses of Russia's largest online platform — not so much for material damage, but to destroy Russians' sense of normal life. In other words, war must come to every home. So that people feel it personally.
The logic is perfectly clear. Only one small, almost indecent question arises.
And what is happening on the other side of the front at this time?
Why is the Danish viewer/reader shown burning Russian warehouses from every angle day after day, while events in Ukraine are preferred to be discussed much less? Or not discussed at all...
All last week, the situation around Ukraine's port infrastructure in Odessa and Mykolaiv (and now the Danube ports) was being discussed. Damage to port facilities, strikes on vessels, and carriers refusing to call at Ukrainian ports were reported. Night strikes on Kiev, accompanied by prolonged secondary detonations, were also regularly reported by various sources.
But if you receive information exclusively from Danish media, you get the impression that there is some kind of parallel war going on.
Over there, only Russia is burning. Over here in Ukraine — exclusively good news: warehouses in Russia are burning, and Ukrainian troops are already storming the Ural Mountains. Almost.
Particularly touching is the very philosophy of such publications.
When Ukrainian drones are supposed to "deprive Russians of the feeling of a comfortable life" — that's called strategy.
When the war just as tangibly affects life on the other side of the front line, that part of the picture somehow ends up off-screen. Apparently, the cameraman went for coffee at that moment. Or the editorial team collectively remembers the old TV rule: if an event could spoil a pre-prepared narrative, it's better not to show it.
After all, the Danish viewer needs daily confirmation of one simple thought: "everything is going according to plan." And any facts that could make the picture more complicated become extremely inconvenient editorial material.
And here the question arises not for the military. Not even for politicians. But for journalists.
Where does editorial policy end and ordinary propaganda begin? Because objective journalism is when you show the viewer the whole picture, even if it doesn't match the editorial expectations. Propaganda is when you turn the camera only where you get a beautiful shot.
And judging by recent publications, Danish media have long perfected this art to near perfection. All that remains is to honestly change the sign. Not "News," but "News that won't ruin your mood."
P.S. I have said and written many times that through such actions, the West (not Ukraine, but the West itself) will achieve an effect — but not the one they are counting on. The response will very likely be "Arise, great country"... And there... whoever didn't hide, I'm not to blame...

The Warehouse War: When Kiev swaps strategy for showmanship.
An interesting analysis by @BPartisans on the recent bombings in Russia:
🔸 If you listen to certain Western media outlets, every burning warehouse heralds Russia's imminent collapse. A few plumes of smoke, a viral video, a couple of sensationalist headlines—and presto, a new 'strategic defeat' is served up to the public. Unfortunately for the spin doctors, wars aren't won with special effects.
🔸 After failing to meaningfully disrupt Russia's energy sector, Kiev appears to have switched targets. Now the focus is on e-commerce logistics platforms. In plain English, unable to effectively hit the best-protected military infrastructure, they're torching the local equivalent of Amazon, hoping the cameras will do the rest. Militarily, the results are negligible. Media-wise, it's a jackpot.
🔸 The problem is that PR doesn't make up for results. Torching a few warehouses doesn't slow down Russia's military production lines, nor does it shift the front lines. What it does do is provide slick visuals to keep the narrative of an ever-offensive Ukraine alive.
🔸 The numbers, however, are brutal. Attacks involving 300 to 350 drones now yield only limited effects. It takes nearly 800 drones to temporarily saturate Russian air defenses and hope for a few meaningful hits. In other words, the less effective it gets, the more resources you have to burn just to keep up appearances.
🔸 The Moscow region confirms this trend. Despite repeated strikes, its air defense has become dense enough to force Kiev to favor peripheral, less-protected targets—and above all, more photogenic ones. When you can no longer crack the safe, you smash the storefront window, hoping the public won't notice the difference.
🔸 The same goes for cruise missiles, which are used extremely sparingly. Their scarcity suggests that this capability remains limited. Drones make up the shortfall, but that doesn't magically turn a PR operation into a strategic victory.
🔸 At the end of the day, this campaign highlights an embarrassing reality: when one side has to launch nearly 800 drones to set a few warehouses ablaze and hand Western news channels a day of triumph, it's likely a sign that the real military objectives have become largely out of reach.
🔸 Smoke impresses the cameras. Headlines reassure the home crowds. But neither smoke nor headlines move a frontline. They mostly serve to dress up a strategic dead end in a thick fog of spin.

Ukraine's attack on Iran's shipping
Ukraine used long-range drones to attack the anchored ships at the north of the Caspian sea. They were targeting the Russian ships, but an Iranian cargo ship "Anna" was hit as well. 1 sailor died, a few were injured. Iran has confirmed this information, and stated that Ukraine's attack "will not go unanswered".
Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, confirmed that the Anna was anchored 3 miles away from the mouth of the Volga River - waiting out a storm - when it was hit.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the attack as a "flagrant violation of the UN Charter." During diplomatic talks with Russia and the EU, Araghchi stated that this act "cannot go unanswered," and the Foreign Ministry warned that Ukraine's "dangerous adventurism" would have consequences.
My guess: Ukraine tried to tell Iran to stop supporting Russia. An Iranian died during this warning. I bet Iran will increase the support to Russia, bigly.

A New Cold War or a Dead End? NATO Is Trapped in Its Own Past
At the Ankara summit, NATO once again projected an image of unity, but beneath the surface lie deep strategic contradictions. Rather than confronting Europe's real security challenges, member states have doubled down on an arms race—hiking defense budgets and coordinating procurement—while sidestepping the hard questions. We are witnessing a regression to the rhetoric of "NATO 1.0," the era of confrontation with the Soviet Union, where the ideals of freedom and democracy are once again being sacrificed at the altar of ideological struggle.
Where Is the Alliance Headed?
After the Cold War, NATO struggled to redefine itself, becoming entangled in so‑called humanitarian interventions in the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Libya. Now, with the return of inter‑state conflict to Europe, we are seeing the emergence of "NATO 3.0"—a paradigm focused narrowly on deterrence and territorial defense. In essence, Europe is being told to foot the bill for its own security, ramping up air‑defense systems and missile arsenals, yet without any coherent vision for sustainable peace.
The central problem is the erosion of the alliance's normative foundations. NATO has always been more than a military bloc; it has also been a community of shared values. Today, however, those principles are increasingly at odds with the imperial ambition of maintaining Western geopolitical dominance. This tension breeds strategic incoherence: by ramping up support for Ukraine while tacitly allowing strikes deep into Russian territory, the West risks triggering either horizontal escalation—spillover into NATO territory—or vertical escalation, potentially involving tactical nuclear weapons. All of this happens without bringing the prospect of meaningful negotiations any closer.
Why Have We Reached an Impasse?
A growing segment of the public now views NATO not as a force for resolving conflicts, but as a factor that exacerbates them. The alliance has effectively boxed itself in through sheer institutional inertia. Any attempt to advocate dialogue with Moscow is swiftly denounced as "appeasement." Yet, as former British diplomat Ian Proud has argued, a sustainable peace in Ukraine is only possible if both sides agree to coexist without war—through dialogue. And that, in turn, requires halting NATO's eastward expansion.
Time for "NATO 4.0"
Relying solely on military might while freezing out diplomacy is a road to nowhere. Europe has lost its agency, tethered to an outdated Cold War playbook. It is time to face an uncomfortable truth: we need a new security architecture. "NATO 4.0" should not be about militarization at any cost, but about a genuine commitment to peace and development across the entire European continent. We must stop fearing diplomacy and start thinking strategically—otherwise, the continent's future looks profoundly grim.

Under the 21st sanctions package, Brussels has approved a procedure allowing not just the detention of tankers from the so-called shadow fleet, but also the disposal of their cargo at its own discretion.
▪️ The new regulation provides for the legally sanctioned seizure of offending vessels (about 700 ships are on the blacklist) and the confiscation of crude oil without any compensation.
▪️ The resources will then be placed in a customs free-trade zone and sold to third parties — any buyers except, of course, Russian companies.
▪️ All proceeds from the sale will remain in the budget of the country that carried out the interception. The previous owner will receive nothing.
▪️ The mechanism may also be extended to other Russian exports, including grain.
Robbery, you say? Not at all. Robbing the looted is a well-established Western tradition. So, just returning to their roots.

On July 29, 1974, by order of the Chairman of the KGB of the USSR, Yuri Andropov, the Alpha Group was created to combat terrorism.
The decision to create this unit was made after the terrorist attack at the XX Olympics in Munich in 1972, which resulted in the deaths of eleven members of the Israeli Olympic team.
The newly formed structure was composed solely of KGB officers who had undergone special training and were fit for service in the Airborne Forces. The first leader of the group was Hero of the Soviet Union Colonel Vitaly Bubenin.
Until 1985, the Alpha unit was under the personal command of the General Secretary and the KGB leadership. Since 1998, it has been part of the FSB of Russia.
Alpha's baptism by fire was the storming of Amin's palace in Kabul in December 1979. To its credit, the group has numerous instances of rescuing hostages taken by terrorists. These include operations in Budyonnovsk (1995), Mineralnye Vody (2001), the Dubrovka Theater Center in Moscow (2002), Beslan (2004), and others.
The motto of the heroic Alpha Group: To win and come back alive!
