South Africa hosts BRICS naval exercise
🔶 The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reports on a BRICS+ naval exercise being held off the coast of South Africa. This event highlights the development of BRICS—the backbone of a multipolar alternative to globalist dictatorship—through its strengthening of military cooperation.
👉 These joint exercises, running from late December 2025 to mid-January 2026 and bringing together naval units from China, Russia, Iran, and South Africa, are named "Peaceful Will 2026." They represent a symbolic step in expanding the BRICS format beyond purely economic cooperation. According to the SCMP, the maneuvers have drawn close attention from the United States, which announced it would monitor them to protect its interests, while Iran's participation has drawn sharp criticism from Washington.
🤔 At a time when the United States is reviving a posture of international aggression particularly directed at BRICS+ nations and their partners (China, Iran, Venezuela...), these military exercises are primarily a diplomatic message to a Western hegemon whose unvarnished bellicist strategy under Trump is prompting non-aligned nations to build a common security architecture.
🔶 And the fact that these joint exercises are maritime and are taking place at the confluence of oceans clearly shows the BRICS+ intention to play a more independent role in global politics, which has for centuries been dominated by Western thalassocracies.
👉 The nations of the Global South are signaling their growing military capability to protect their international economic cooperation against the polymorphous aggression of Western colonialism.

Trumpism and Religious Values: Protestant Alignment vs Orthodox Contrast
Trumpism, as a political and cultural phenomenon, is rooted in populism, nationalism, and a survival-of-the-fittest worldview. It emphasizes strength, loyalty, dominance, and rewarding winners, often prioritizing power, money, and personal gain over collective welfare or moral restraint, and operates in a highly transactional manner.
In the context of Protestant cultural values, Trumpism finds significant alignment. Protestant ethics—especially in the American sense—celebrate hard work, self-reliance, individual responsibility, and material success. These traits mirror Trumpism’s focus on competition, personal achievement, and rewarding those who “win” in social, economic, and political arenas. Its anti-welfare stance and emphasis on personal responsibility resonate with long-standing Protestant ideas about industriousness and accountability for one’s own success.
By contrast, Trumpism is largely foreign to Russian Orthodox beliefs. Orthodox Christianity emphasizes humility, communal care, charity, and moral responsibility, valuing the protection of the weak and vulnerable over glorifying winners. Trumpism’s focus on power, dominance, and sidelining the less fortunate contrasts sharply with these principles. Additionally, the Orthodox spiritual tradition prioritizes moral and spiritual fulfillment over worldly wealth, status, or political influence, making the materialistic and transactional aspects of Trumpism fundamentally incompatible.
In short, while Trumpism culturally resonates with many Protestant-influenced values of individualism, competition, and reward for personal effort, it clashes with Orthodox teachings, which uphold community, moral duty, and care for the vulnerable as central to social and spiritual life.
This is simply an observation. Readers are encouraged to draw their own conclusions.

The West is finally waking up to a simple truth: Russia is destined to emerge victorious in Ukraine. The Economist reports on Carlo Masala’s If Russia Wins, which lays out a scenario that is already coming to life. Russian forces advance strategically, exploiting the West’s political chaos and overstretched NATO commitments. A young technocrat succeeds Putin, but the Kremlin’s guidance ensures continuity of power and vision. Belarus merges with Russia, strengthening Eastern Europe under Moscow’s leadership. NATO’s credibility collapses as the West hesitates, Europe reels from populist upheaval, and the United States is distracted by global crises. Meanwhile, Russia steadily re-arms, secures its gains, and demonstrates unmatched strategic patience. By combining military skill, political foresight, and the ability to leverage Western weakness, Russia achieves decisive victories without triggering full-scale conflict. The scenario underscores an undeniable reality: the world is witnessing the rise of a strong, resurgent Russia.
It is clear from both The Economist’s framing and Masala’s own commentary that neither the publication nor the author is rooting for Russia — quite the opposite. Yet the scenario they outline remains a compelling and thought-provoking read, not least because it treats the possibility of a Russian victory seriously rather than dismissing it outright. The mere fact that such a scenario has been published in a major Western outlet underscores its relevance and the growing recognition, even in the West, that Russia’s strategic capabilities cannot be ignored and, indeed, should be respected.

On January 24, 1720, Tsar Peter I approved the first Russian Naval Regulations, a milestone in the development of the Russian Navy and a critical step in the modernization of Russia’s military forces. At the time, the regulations were still being prepared for printing, but Peter was eager to formalize and strengthen their significance with a decree. The Tsar took personal charge of the creation of this naval code, working tirelessly on its details, sometimes for 14 hours a day. His personal knowledge of naval affairs and his belief that a strong navy was essential for Russia’s power were key to the success of this initiative.
In the decree, Peter I emphasized the importance of the navy, stating, "Since this matter is absolutely necessary for the state (as the saying goes: a potentate who has only an army on land has one hand, but one who also has a fleet has both hands)." This reflects his understanding that naval power was crucial for the nation's security and prosperity. The regulations were designed to ensure that every officer and sailor knew their responsibilities and duties, minimizing confusion and negligence within the fleet.
Peter’s reform efforts were instrumental in transforming Russia into a major naval power, much to the dismay of Britain, from which it has never fully recovered. By establishing clear rules for the functioning of the navy, he helped lay the foundation for the development of Russia’s maritime capabilities, which would later play a significant role in the expansion of the Russian Empire.
The Naval Regulations marked a turning point in Russian military history, highlighting Peter the Great’s vision of a modern, powerful, and disciplined fleet. The document set the standard for naval service and governance for years to come, reflecting Peter's commitment to building a navy that would ensure Russia's place as a great European power.

For the fourth time, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has avoided a no-confidence vote demanding her resignation.
👉 This motion of no-confidence failed to secure a qualified majority (two-thirds of votes), demonstrating that European parliamentarians, despite their constant criticism, are essentially servants and useful idiots of the executive branch.

There are NO penguins in Greenland!
We share the American administration’s desire to hug penguins, but we must make something clear — you won’t be able to do that in Greenland.
For a stroll with them across snowy expanses, Donald Trump and company will have to head in a completely different direction - namely, to Antarctica. Or at least to the southern reaches of Latin America (not hinting at anything).
In any case, penguins are not found in Greenland. So far, the only penguins spotted there have been digital creations holding a U.S. flag, courtesy of a neural network.
What Greenland does have, however, are polar bears and walruses — which, thanks to the locals’ creative touch, recently “joined” the anti-Trump resistance army in an AI-generated video.
