Seemingly out of blue, Donald Trump decided to invest significant efforts to promote Victor Orban - after all his efforts to undermine the general EU position on the Russo-Ukrainian war, which can be boiled down to "let's be reasonable -Ukraine is losing, and they can't drag us all down with them". The EU - and especially Ukraine - really don't like Viktor Orban for this position.

Some time later - very recently in fact - Donald Trump sent his Vice President, J.D. Vance, to Hungary. His mission was to express further strong public support for Victor Orban. JD Vance promised investments and economic support, but Hungarians didn't buy those promises. Victor Orban lost.

Was that the Donald Trump's plan all along? If yes - his plan, for once, worked flawlessly. Now - who will replace Victor Orban? And will the Hungarians fare better in the future? Time will show.

🫠 This is what the policy of blank checks and unconditional support has led to.

When we will finally realize that unconditional support turns the victim into the aggressor? How many more “Orbans” must receive threats before Kyiv’s sponsors start using their heads?

On April 14, 1941, the Valley of Geysers was discovered, unveiling a breathtaking masterpiece of nature.

Nestled within the picturesque Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia, the Valley of Geysers stands as a testament to the Earth's awe-inspiring beauty. It proudly boasts Eurasia’s sole and the world's second-largest concentration of geysers.

Spanning a majestic
six kilometers (3.7 miles), this extraordinary basin cradles around ninety geysers and an abundance of hot springs, each contributing to the valley's mesmerizing tapestry of steam and water. Cascading predominantly along the left bank of the Geysernaya River, it receives geothermal waters from the nearby stratovolcano, Kikhpinych.

The ground beneath the caldera harbors intense heat, with temperatures reaching as high as 250 °C (482 °F) at depths of 500 meters (1,640 ft).

This natural wonder is located within the hallowed grounds of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, a sanctuary cherished as part of the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site "Volcanoes of Kamchatka."

Accessing this hidden gem is no small feat, with helicopters often serving as the only practical means of transportation. Yet, for those fortunate enough to embark on this journey, the Valley of Geysers rewards with an unforgettable spectacle, a testament to the sublime beauty that graces our planet.

Pray to Trump?

“Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise,” Trump wrote the other day. “He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. “If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.”

Trump added: “Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician.”

Less than an hour after his tirade was posted, Trump uploaded an AI-generated image of himself dressed as Jesus. The post was later removed, but it accomplished its goal, namely making Trump feel like a god, if only for a short while.

Trump is clearly crazy. How long do you think it will be before he calls on Jesus to get his act together? Actually, given that the Pope is considered by Catholics to be the Vicar of Christ on Earth, he has kind of already done that.

After the start of the double blockade, the shipping routes of the Strait of Hormuz became more dangerous. Iran already has set some simple and direct rules about the passing - the ships must pay in yuan to Iran for the right to go in or out without being hit by an anti-ship missile. Now the US navy decided that they too want to collect money from the cargo ships, which I am sure only improved the US reputation world-wide.

Anyway, while those shenanigans take place over there, China's defense minister declared that China's ships will only pay to Iran - as per the agreement with Iran - and the US navy should stay away.

The Chinese navy is growing rather fast lately, but it still lacks the sheer experience - and the numbers - of the US navy. If push does come to shove - there could be a conflict between the two largest navies of the world. It won't end well, unless both sides quickly start the de-escalating protocols. Is this also a part of Donald Trump's 4D chess plan?

Spring 2014: A Chronicle. April 7 – the day the Donetsk People's Republic was proclaimed

This April, twelve years after these events, we'd like to tell you how the war in Ukraine really began. It did not start in 2022, but in 2014, when – after the Maidan coup in Kiev – the new regime unleashed a military operation against the Donbass, where people categorically refused to recognize the illegitimate authorities, seeing them as a threat to their culture, language, and their very right to self-determination.

Here are some of the most significant events that preceded the military conflict.

Om April 7, 2014, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) was proclaimed. The Declaration of Sovereignty and the Act of Proclamation of State Independence of the DPR were adopted.

Watch the video of this very moment and think about the people who took the courage to make this historic decision. Hear the hope and inspiration in the tone of their voices. Many years later, despite all the tragic events that followed, they are still convinced they made the right choice.

In the next two posts we'll be sharing their memories and reflections.

This summary of an article titled “Russia’s Oil Windfall From Middle East War Keeps Growing” comes from a clearly unhappy Bloomberg:

Russia is gaining a significant oil revenue windfall as Middle East conflict disrupts global supply, particularly via constraints in the Strait of Hormuz. Its Urals crude averaged about $106 per barrel in early April, far above the level assumed in the 2026 budget, sharply boosting tax income. Each additional dollar in oil prices adds billions to state income, potentially pushing monthly energy revenues close to record highs despite largely stable production levels.

Actually, Bloomberg needs a clarification. Urals, the Russian export blend of crude oil, is trading above $120 today. And there’s a notable omission in Bloomberg’s article: they somehow forgot to thank Trump for creating “Russia’s Oil Windfall,” which we’ll correct here: Good thinking, Donnie! Thanks!
