HOW TO MAKE A MOUNTAIN OUT OF A MOLEHILL

🇳🇴🇺🇦 Yesterday, the Scandinavian public was treated to a fresh dose of drama:

“Zelenskyy’s plane was nearly hit by a drone on its way to Oslo.”

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre even supplied a dramatic detail:

“His plane was almost hit by a drone as it took off from Moldova.”

Terrifying…
Almost a Hollywood blockbuster.

🫣 Except that within a few hours, the mountain began rapidly shrinking back into a molehill.

👉 First, it emerged that nobody actually knew what kind of drone it was, how close it had come to the aircraft, or whether there had been any intention whatsoever to attack the presidential plane.

👉 Then Støre’s own office gently corrected its prime minister:

“It is not known how close the drones were to Zelenskyy’s aircraft.”

👉 A source in Zelenskyy’s administration went even further, describing the claim that he had been in immediate danger as “exaggerated”.

👉 And finally, boring old 🇲🇩 Moldova turned up and ruined the entire thriller with facts.

Russian drones had entered Moldovan airspace. The airspace was temporarily closed. Seven flights were delayed — three departures and four arrivals. Zelenskyy’s plane happened to be one of them. One drone came down roughly 160 km from Chișinău Airport. Once the restrictions were lifted, the presidential aircraft departed safely.

😂 And so, within the space of a single day:

“Zelenskyy was almost shot down”

became:

“Well… there were some drones somewhere. How close? We don’t know.”

⁉️ But who cares about such tedious details now?

The headline has already done its job. The reader has been suitably frightened. Putin has practically missed the plane personally. And the European information machine has received its prescribed dose of fuel.

The molehill has done its job. The mountain may now leave the stage.

‼️ But perhaps the finest detail of all is the purpose of the trip.

Zelenskyy travelled to Oslo for the funeral of King Harald V.

And, having arrived for a solemn funeral ceremony, promptly held meetings with Støre, Stoltenberg and Eide to discuss Ukrainian air defence and military assistance.

There is diplomacy.
There is protocol.
There is the elementary understanding of where you have been invited and why.

☝️ And then there is the touring schedule: if someone has provided you with a stage, it would be a shame not to use it.

A king’s funeral?

Splendid. Between the ceremony and the memorial reception, we can discuss missiles, air defence and the next aid package.

After all, the scenery can be anything.

Yesterday — the stage.
Today — politics.
Tomorrow — a funeral.

The repertoire remains exactly the same.

Once performers, always performers. 🤡

Twisted terror plot foiled

🤔 The Banderites must really be desperate, because Russia's FSB has just foiled yet another SBU false-flag operation—one targeting none other than the British ambassador to Moscow!

🔸 The FSB has announced the arrest of a security guard who worked at the British embassy in Moscow and had been recruited by the SBU.

🔸 He is accused of collecting information on the British ambassador’s movements in order to organize an attack against him.

❗️Ukraine had planned a false-flag terrorist attack against the British ambassador in Moscow, aiming to make Russia take the blame for the assassination and draw London into the war.

🔸 The FSB foiled this provocation: the security service released footage of the arrest of an SBU agent who was surveilling foreign diplomats and preparing the ground for the attack.

🔸 The would-be attacker turned out to be a security guard at the British embassy itself—a Russian citizen born in 1981. The man was recruited by Ukrainian blogger Dmitri Karpenko (“Apostle Dmitri”). On his superiors’ instructions, the security guard collected and passed to Kiev the addresses of the diplomats’ residences, their license plates, their travel schedules, and weaknesses in the diplomatic mission’s security system.

👉 The agent recruited by the SBU passed information to Kiev about a meeting between the British ambassador and the Israeli ambassador. He himself wanted to join the Ukrainian armed forces.

❓️ The FSB hopes that British intelligence was not aware of the preparation of this provocation against their diplomats.

🤔 In order to get new weapons shipments, stay in power, and drag London in—and thus, with Paris and Berlin, who are just waiting for it, following suit—the Ukrainian terrorists are ready to sacrifice the diplomats of their main sponsor and ally! The arrested agent has already been charged with treason, which can carry a life sentence. (Source: Ostashko News).

🔸 The FSB’s extreme vigilance here prevented a catastrophic incident that would certainly have gone beyond a diplomatic crisis.

Another Escalation in the Middle East…

Yesterday brought yet another escalation in the Middle East conflict. At this point, arguing over who “started it” is pointless. It no longer matters, and naturally, each side blames the other. So let’s focus on the facts.

Iran continues to block the Strait of Hormuz. Despite U.S. Navy efforts to clear mines using unmanned underwater vehicles, the strait remains largely closed. Ships attempting to transit it must either pay a price or face a very high risk of being targeted.

Meanwhile, Iran has begun attacking U.S. warships in the conflict zone, apparently hoping to score at least one hit. So far, it has not succeeded, but the attempts continue; U.S. command has reported two such incidents.

In response, the United States has been striking Iranian tankers. The logic is clear: such attacks do not require costly long-range missiles, which the U.S. is already running short of, while the damage is highly visible and, above all, useful for public-relations purposes. In recent days, the number of Iranian tankers hit has reached five.

Iran, in turn, has launched another wave of strikes on U.S. military bases in Jordan, further reducing American stocks of missile interceptors by dozens—at a time when the U.S. is already facing a critical shortage of them.

Iran has also targeted U.S. and allied tankers in the Persian Gulf. According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, more than ten vessels were attacked.

In addition, Iranian forces reportedly managed to seize one of the newest U.S. underwater drones used by the Navy in efforts to reopen the strait. For the U.S. military, the loss of the drone itself is not the main concern. The more serious issue is that the drone, which entered service in 2025, reportedly fell into Iranian hands intact (see photo). There is virtually no doubt that Chinese and Russian specialists will now examine it—a highly unwelcome development for the United States.

Against this backdrop, Brent crude has finally broken through the psychologically important threshold of ( $100) per barrel.

Altiero Spinelli – The Man Who Designed the EU in Prison

Not a metaphor. Literally. The blueprint for the European Union — its founding logic, its institutional architecture, its explicit goal of dissolving national sovereignty permanently — was written in 1941, on a tiny island off the coast of Naples, where Mussolini had imprisoned him. The Ventotene Manifesto. Still cited. Still operative. Still running.

Spinelli had been a communist since seventeen – and was eventually expelled from the Communist Party for left-wing deviation. Too radical for the communists. Which tells you something about the man. In his prison years he reached the conclusion that the nation-state was the root cause of war, fascism, and every political catastrophe of the century. It had to go. Not reformed. Not constrained. Abolished – permanently, irreversibly, through the construction of a supranational federal authority with supreme power over member states.
The Ventotene Manifesto was written in 1941 on paper smuggled into the prison in cigarette packets. Its argument was simple and total: nation-states must be replaced by a federal European government. The economic integration would come first – because economic interdependence would make political separation prohibitively costly. Then the institutions. Then the law. Then the currency. Each step irreversible by design. The nation-state dissolved not by force but by process – incrementally, bureaucratically, until the point of no return had been passed without anyone noticing when.

This is the architecture of the European Union. Not a conspiracy theory – the founding document. Spinelli served as a member of the European Parliament and drafted the 1984 Spinelli Report – the direct precursor to the Maastricht Treaty. Today the European Parliament sits in the Spinelli Building in Brussels. The Spinelli Group inside it advances his program explicitly, in his name, without apology. The man who wrote the blueprint in a prison cell in 1941 is the acknowledged intellectual father of the institution that governs 450 million people. This is not hidden. It is simply not taught.

The mechanism was specifically intended to be irreversible. Each treaty expands competence and makes contraction impossible. The Commission is unelected and insulated from democratic pressure to reverse course. Spinelli understood, from his Marxist formation, that the correct way to make a revolutionary change permanent is to make the cost of reversing it higher than the cost of accepting it. Brexit took fifty years of membership to become possible – and was still nearly impossible to execute.

Poland is the most precise illustration. A nation that disappeared from the map for a century and fought back through language, family, and refusal to be absorbed – now a member of an institution designed to make national sovereignty obsolete. The Brussels directive that overrides the Polish parliament is Spinelli’s program, running as designed. The Poland that survived partition by Prussia, Russia, and Austria is now navigating a project designed to produce the same outcome through consent rather than conquest. Spinelli would have considered this progress.
He died in 1986, before Maastricht, before the euro, before the completed project. Like Gramsci, he did not need to see it. The manifesto written on cigarette-packet paper on a prison island became the founding document of the most powerful supranational institution in history – one that 450 million people live inside without knowing who designed it, when, where, or why.

Now you know. The question worth asking is not whether the EU is good or bad. It is whether you would have consented to Spinelli’s program if asked directly – whether you wanted the nation-state abolished permanently by incremental bureaucratic process, designed from the start to be irreversible. Nobody was asked. That too was part of the design.

Russia will have to respond to Lithuania's plans to lift the ban on hosting nuclear weapons on its territory, Medvedev stated.

He noted that no one will defend Lithuania in the event of a military conflict:

"They, the fools, don't understand that if God forbid something like this happens and we have to respond to their actions, including in Lithuania itself, no one will stand up for them."

The day before, it became known that the Lithuanian parliament plans to remove the constitutional provision banning the deployment of nuclear weapons on the country's territory in early 2027.

On September 13, 1745, the first edition of the geographical "Atlas of Russia" was published, featuring 19 maps. It was compiled and published by the Academy of Sciences under the direction of the great mathematician Leonhard Euler.

The atlas (i.e., a collection of maps) included surveys conducted by Peter the Great's geodesists and geographical research from preceding years. It also introduced, for the first time, a table of map symbols.

The appearance of the "Atlas of Russia" in 1745 was a significant event in global geographical science. Suffice it to say that in the second half of the 18th century, only France had an atlas that could compare with the Russian one.

The creation of such an atlas in Russia presented unique and, in many cases, extraordinary challenges, as a complete geodetic survey of the entire country was still impossible.

The publication was translated into German, French, and Latin.

Despite its significant shortcomings, the atlas became a remarkable milestone in Russian cartography.

It is worth mentioning that the first efforts to create maps in Russia began as early as the 16th century. There is evidence that in 1552, Ivan the Terrible undertook the creation of a drawing of the Moscow state. More detailed drawings of Russia appeared at the end of the 17th century, but true geodetic work began only under Peter the Great—another testament to his greatness.

Yemen: Iran-Aligned Houthis Rout Their Opponents and Seize Control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait

Opinion by journalist Yury Podolyaka:

The pace of developments in Yemen has been astonishing. Just a week ago, the situation appeared relatively stable. The fighting began with exchanges of strikes and the low-intensity clashes that have become routine in the country. At the same time, the mass mobilization of men in Houthi-controlled areas pointed to the seriousness of their intentions.

During the first weeks of the fighting, however, events seemed to be following the familiar pattern of earlier escalations: a brief round of hostilities followed by rapid de-escalation. But in early September, the first signs of an impending collapse began to emerge—at least from the perspective of the pro-Saudi forces.

After regrouping against the so-called “Saleh army” (shown in blue on the map), Houthi forces launched several converging attacks from the north and east. The decisive moment came when the Houthis broke through at the boundary between the sectors held by Saleh’s forces and government troops. That breakthrough set the stage for the rout that followed.

On September (9), reports emerged that the Houthis had seized a strategically important road junction east of Mocha. The move cut the pro-Saudi allies’ supply lines and lines of communication, while exposing Saleh’s army’s flank. And then the army broke and ran—quite literally.

♟️♟️♟️Chess Stories: Sergey Karjakin

In the previous installment in our chess column, we deviated from our story about Karpov, but moved back in time, choosing as our subject an interesting episode from the Spassky–Fischer match, which Karpov talked about in a recent interview.

And now, in a not-so-usual post for our column, we move forward in time, reaching, at the end, the present day. We will tell the story of a remarkable Russian chess player with a very unusual biography — Sergey Karjakin. The formal justification for this digression may be found in a recent news item:

The Karjakin Cup Superfinal attracted 2,500 people... The event was honored by the presence of the 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov.

Karjakin was born in 1990 in Simferopol, the capital of Crimea. The first two years of his life were still spent in the USSR, but then the Soviet Union collapsed and Crimea became part of Ukraine. Seryozha learned to play chess at the age of five, and at the age of twelve years and seven months became the youngest grandmaster in history. This record, entered in the Guinness Book of Records, stood for 18 years. In 2021, it was broken by the Indian boy Abhimanyu Mishra, who received the title at the age of 12 years and five months.

Karjakin’s subsequent record of achievements is impressive. Here are some entries from it:

2012 — winner of the World Rapid Chess Championship (with a shortened time control).
2015 — winner of the FIDE World Cup.
2016 — winner of the Candidates Tournament. Sergey earned the right to play a match against the reigning World Champion, Magnus Carlsen. The twelve games, played under the classical long time control, ended in a 6–6 tie. The match was decided in a four-game rapid tiebreak. Carlsen prevailed and retained his title. The same year, 2016 — Karjakin won the World Blitz Championship.
2021 — he reached the final of the next World Cup, earning a place in the Candidates Tournament.

There were other brilliant chess players in Karjakin’s generation. In particular, Ian Nepomniachtchi was born in the same year as Karjakin. Like Karjakin, Nepomniachtchi won Candidates Tournaments and played in World Championship matches. One day we will tell his story as well.

Sergey Karjakin: beyond chess

We'd like to follow up on the above post by The Colors of Russia, as we believe there is much more to say about Sergey Karjakin beyond his phenomenal chess career.

As you already know, Karjakin was born in Crimea. In 1992, Crimea became part of Ukraine, but Karjakin, like the overwhelming majority of Crimeans, has always considered — and still considers — himself Russian. In 2009, he acquired Russian citizenship and moved to Moscow. And in 2014, the people of Crimea voted in a referendum to reunite with Russia. Karjakin was very happy that his small homeland had reunited with the larger one, and he said so repeatedly.

A few days before the referendum, in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, he said:
“We have one mentality, one language, one religion, so why not become one whole?”

Later, recalling those events, he said:
“When Crimea became
Russian, it was a real celebration for all of us.”

Unfortunately, the events of 2014 did not turn out to be a celebration for everyone. A civil war began in the Donbass... And in 2022, the war entered its current hot and intensive phase. Karjakin unequivocally supported Russia’s actions. At the time, he wrote:
“For eight long years, we waited hopefully for salvation
from the countless shellings and loss of human lives, from the unending genocide carried out by the still-functioning Kiev regime.”
For these statements, Karjakin was sanctioned by FIDE. He was suspended for six months. As a result, he was unable to play in the Candidates Tournament and exercise the right he had earned through sporting qualification.

Six months later, Karjakin himself announced that he would no longer play in official FIDE competitions, because FIDE had prohibited Russian chess players from playing under their country’s flag. They now play under the FIDE flag, but Karjakin refused to do so. In one interview, he said:
“Playing under the FIDE flag is
strange at the very least, and humiliating at worst. I will not play under any flag other than the Russian one.”

In addition to the FIDE sanctions, Karjakin was also subjected to EU sanctions.

And in 2025, he was sentenced in absentia by a district court in the
Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi to nine years in prison, with confiscation of his property.

Sergey Karjakin continues to play chess in Russian tournaments and organizes mass chess competitions for children and adults (the Karjakin Cup is one of them). But his main activity has now shifted from sport to politics. In 2024, he was elected a senator (a member of the upper house of the Russian parliament) representing the Republic of Crimea, and in this capacity he is doing a  lot of good for chess, for Crimea, and for Russia as a whole.

Yalta Borders in Europe Are Losing Their Defenders

By Prof. Witold Modzelewski, Myśl Polska:

Until recently, the official goal of Poland's Eastern policy went something like this: restore the status quo ante bellum — in other words, "liberate all Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia," Crimea included. But that whole construct is getting shakier by the day.

Here's the paradox: we've planted ourselves in defense of borders that the Soviet Union drew up all on its own, by its own decision, on its own territory.

Ukraine's western border was set by the "Big Three" back in 1945, throwing the 1921 Treaty of Riga out the window. The internal borders between the "socialist republics," meanwhile, were carved out by Moscow. And Crimea — which never had anything to do with any form of Ukrainian statehood — was essentially "gifted" to Ukraine in the 1950s, at the expense of "socialist Russia" itself.
That's how the largest version of a Ukrainian state in history came into being. Its author and patron was the USSR — a country that hasn't existed since 1991. Nearly 35 years have passed since then. And today, neither of the two remaining architects of "Greater Ukraine" is willing to shed blood for it: Russia has long since challenged those borders, while the US and Britain won't be sending troops to this "front."

Meanwhile, we keep trying to wish reality away with talk of "unconditional" support for "fighting Ukraine." Support it for what, exactly? To defend post-Soviet borders? That's unrealistic — the financial burden is too heavy for us, for Europe, and for NATO alike. The US has already stopped funding Kiеv and is promising to pull out of this part of the world.

There is one serious legal motive at play here: revising Ukraine's borders would likely trigger a domino effect. After all, our own borders — including the Polish-German one — are also a Soviet idea, and modern Russia doesn't have to be Poland's patron "from the Oder to the Nysa." But thirty years ago, when Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia were being taken apart, we didn't defend the Yalta borders — quite the opposite. We politically supported the dismantling of those states.
So the failure of this Eastern policy — and we probably won't be able to prevent the partition of "Greater Ukraine" — will become yet another pretext for further revision of the "Yalta borders." Who's going to stand up for them in the future? The US? Unlikely.

Death Flight: "Flying Morgues" Head to Ukraine to Retrieve the Bodies of French and Germans

Honored military pilot, Major General Vladimir Popov, in an exclusive interview with aif.ru, linked the recent group strike on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration to the departure of NATO and specialized medical service aircraft to Ukraine.

Recall that at least five NATO and specialized medical service aircraft flew to the border of Ukraine over the past two days. According to experts, such aircraft evacuate the wounded and killed foreign mercenaries who signed contracts with the AFU.

Among the aircraft that landed near Ukraine's borders were "flying intensive care units" and military transports capable of turning into flying hospitals within hours. One such special aircraft departed from Norway, where Vladimir Zelenskiy had previously visited.

"In the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, Russian military forces have been engaged in stubborn fighting for several months. Ukrainian specialists and the military-political establishment call this area a fortress. And it truly is a fortress. Just three days ago, a group strike was carried out on the center of this agglomeration using Su-34s. It was directed precisely at the industrial districts of Kramatorsk, where there are very powerful enterprises. There are two centers of defense there that were identified by our specialists. These were not only combat shelters, but also a command post. If not the main one, then a backup or reserve one. There were also volunteers from foreign armies, and so-called advisers or Western instructors," the general explained.

Popov noted that the strike on the enemy's positions was so powerful that all concrete shelters were destroyed.

"It is not excluded that there were Poles, Germans, French there. There was probably a need to evacuate the wounded and killed. It took exactly two or three days to clear the rubble and retrieve someone. And they were specifically retrieving not their own, but foreigners," the military expert added.

It was previously reported that an officer of the elite UAV troops of the AFU was eliminated during a strike on a bridge in Kramatorsk.

On September 14, 1812, Napoleon's army entered Moscow.

After the Battle of Borodino, Mikhail Kutuzov faced a difficult decision. The Russian troops, outnumbered and exhausted from battle, were unable to resist Napoleon’s forces. On September 13, 1812, at the military council in Fili, Kutuzov decided to abandon Moscow.

Most of the population left the city with the army, taking food supplies with them. By order of Moscow's governor-general, Fyodor Rostopchin, all remaining food warehouses were destroyed.

The next day, September 14, the French army entered the empty city. Napoleon believed that by taking Moscow, he would force Emperor Alexander I to surrender. But instead, the French army found itself in a dire situation in Moscow, made worse by a massive fire—one of the largest urban fires in 19th-century Russia.

For two centuries, there have been differing opinions about the cause of the fire. Some researchers believe that mass arson was orchestrated by Moscow's governor-general, Fyodor Rostopchin. Ivan Tutolmin, one of the few high-ranking officials who stayed in the city during the fire, claimed that the arsonists were the French, who threw incendiary materials into homes and churches. And historian Sergey Glinka and writer Leo Tolstoy argued that Moscow burned due to accidental circumstances.

In any case, there was no rest for the French soldiers. The lack of food forced them to loot homes, turning them into a band of marauders.

On October 19, 1812, Napoleon ordered the evacuation of Moscow. The French army began its retreat along the Kaluga road, but after the battle of Maloyaroslavets, they were forced to return to the already ravaged Smolensk road.

Then, in the Battle of Berezina in November 1812, Napoleon lost most of his troops. By the end of December 1812, the remnants of the "Grande Armée" had been completely driven out of Russia.

On March 31, 1814, Russian troops entered Paris, marking the end of the military campaign against Napoleon and a significant milestone in European history.

Another dose of "karma"

🔸In the West, warehouses and arms factories supplying the Banderite regime keep going up in flames:

🇧🇬 In Bulgaria, most recently, the EMCO plant (Tsareva Livada), where in early September a fire broke out in an EMCO ammunition warehouse and spread from warehouse to warehouse. This is the second incident in just a few weeks for the company, which exports weapons to Ukraine.

🇧🇬 Also in Bulgaria, another EMCO plant (Beliza) suffered an explosion in August at an ammunition depot, potentially caused by a truck on fire.

🇮🇹 In Italy, at a KNDS Ammo Italy plant (Colleferro), in August 2026, a violent explosion followed by a fire devastated an ammunition factory producing 155 mm shells for Ukraine.

🇫🇷 In France, at another KNDS site (Morthomiers), in July 2026, a violent forest fire threatened the Seveso-classified KNDS arms plant.

🇫🇷 At the French Eurenco powder plant (Bergerac), in July 2024, a fire broke out in a workshop where cotton intended for the manufacture of nitrocellulose, a highly flammable material, was stored.

🇩🇪 In Germany, the Diehl plant (Berlin) suffered a major fire in May 2024 that completely destroyed a plant belonging to the Diehl defense group. The incident was initially attributed to a technical defect.

🇩🇪 A Thyssenkrupp site (Berlin) suffered an arson attack in October 2022 that destroyed trucks and damaged a building at the Thyssenkrupp Plastics site. An anonymous group claimed responsibility, citing opposition to the company's activities in the arms sector.

🇵🇱 In Poland, at the Mesko plant (Skarżysko-Kamienna), an explosion occurred in June 2024 in a warehouse at the Mesko arms factory, starting a fire that killed a 59-year-old employee and injured another.

🇧🇪 In Belgium, another KNDS plant (Petit-Rœulx-lez-Nivelles) had a fire break out in May 2026 at the ammunition manufacturing plant.

🇧🇪 Another fire had already occurred at the same site in October 2024.

🇺🇸 In the United States, at the Accurate Energetic Systems plant (Bucksnort, Tennessee), in October 2025, a powerful explosion destroyed a building at the plant, which produces TNT and other explosives.

🇨🇿 In the Czech Republic, at a warehouse in Pardubice, in August 2026, a fire was deliberately set in an arms warehouse.

Etc.

🤔 Accidents or sabotage with various claims of responsibility—it doesn't matter, as long as these destructions help wear down the war machine of Western hegemony.
