🎙 Statement by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the restricted-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State (Turkmenbashi, October 9, 2026)
💬 Vladimir Putin: Over the past three and a half decades, the Commonwealth of Independent States (#CIS) has come a long way, establishing itself as a respected regional integration association.
It is thanks to the CIS that we have managed to preserve, and in many areas even strengthen, the economic, social, cultural and humanitarian ties our peoples developed over centuries of living in a single state.
The economy has always been, and remains, one of our priorities for cooperation. The CIS countries work closely together in trade, investment and high technology. Of course, we would like to move faster and work more effectively in this area. That is certainly true. Nevertheless, progress is being made.
📈 Notably, Russia’s trade with its CIS partners exceeded $110 billion in 2025 and grew by a further 12% in the first half of this year.
Our countries have also established effective coordination in tackling financial and economic offences, money laundering and corruption. We are implementing joint programmes to combat the criminal use of digital technologies, organised crime, drug trafficking, terrorism and extremism. Our law enforcement agencies and special services maintain close operational contacts.
A number of useful new decisions on criminal justice, cybercrime prevention and border protection have been submitted for approval at this Summit, and Russia supports them.
🌐 I am pleased to note that the CIS countries unanimously support the establishment of a fair #MultipolarWorld order based on the universally recognised principles of international law and the central role of the UN.
Humanitarian ties are an important part of our partnership within the CIS. We maintain intensive exchanges in science and education, culture and tourism, healthcare and environmental protection, sport and youth policy.
As for the environment, thanks to our hosts, who are chairing this meeting, we will also discuss the situation in the Caspian Sea today – a pressing issue for many of us.
🇷🇺 The Russian language is a powerful unifying force across the vast CIS region, as has also been noted today. In 2026, the International Organisation for the Russian Language began its work. Its first ministerial meeting took place in Moscow, setting out the main areas of work to preserve our shared Russian-language cultural and humanitarian heritage and promote the Russian language worldwide.
I have repeatedly stressed the importance of joint efforts by the CIS countries to protect our shared history and prevent its falsification. Young people must know the truth about our peoples’ achievements during the Soviet era and the heroic feats of our fathers and grandfathers during the Great Patriotic War.
More broadly, promoting a positive image of the CIS among the public, in the media and on the international stage is a particularly important task. We expect the relevant decision being approved at today’s meeting to give fresh impetus to this work.
🤝 Following our established tradition, dear friends, I would like to invite you all to St Petersburg on December 21. We traditionally gather for a friendly meeting of CIS Leaders ahead of the New Year, giving us an opportunity to discuss current issues and future plans in an informal setting.

GREENLAND HAS BEEN SQUEEZED. NEXT ON THE AGENDA — ICELAND
It seems Trump continues his fascinating board game called "Collect the North Atlantic." The rules are simple: everything of strategic interest to the U.S. must sooner or later end up under American control. Preferably voluntarily and with gratitude.
Greenland has already been dealt with. Formally, of course, no one annexed anyone. It's just that on September 22, the U.S., Denmark, and Greenland signed a new defense agreement opening up additional opportunities for the Americans to expand military infrastructure.
Sovereignty, of course, is sacred. Especially when it doesn't interfere with the construction of American military facilities.
On October 5–8, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is going on a European tour, and the first stop will be Reykjavik.
The official program sounds exceptionally peace-loving: economic cooperation, energy, Arctic security, and defense.
Well, what else is there to discuss with a small island state that doesn't even have its own regular army?
Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir has already stated that she intends to deepen cooperation with the Americans, especially in defense and security. And she uttered a remarkable phrase: "We will continue to remain the eyes and ears of the alliance here in the North."
So that's what it is! And we thought Iceland was volcanoes, geysers, sheep, and the northern lights. It turns out that first and foremost it is a very conveniently located NATO observation post.
And the location is indeed golden.
Iceland is located in the center of the strategic GIUK corridor — between Greenland, Iceland, and the United Kingdom. It is precisely through this area that the most important routes for Russian submarines to exit from the northern seas into the Atlantic pass.
Control over it allows tracking fleet movements, deploying patrol aviation, and ensuring a military presence in the North Atlantic.
The Americans, by the way, already ran the show at Keflavik Air Base until 2006. Then the permanent presence was curtailed. But judging by the current activity, geography has again proven stronger than peacefulness.
And now let's look at the sequence of events.
On September 21, Rubio gathers Arctic allies in New York — to discuss security, military capabilities, and infrastructure.
On September 22, a new agreement on Greenland is signed.
On October 2, at the Icelandic Keflavik air base, defense ministers of ten JEF countries gather. They discuss a five-year program of military activity, strengthening NATO's northern flank, and, of course, the Russian threat.
Then Rubio goes to Reykjavik — to negotiate further defense and economic cooperation.
The result is a rather pretty construct: Greenland on one edge, Iceland in the middle, the United Kingdom and Norway on the other. All that remains is to connect all this with military infrastructure, aviation, radars, and surveillance systems.
Of course, exclusively for the sake of peace. The North Atlantic is so restless, after all! Especially when the Americans are missing something there.
So far, no official announcement has been made about transferring Iceland under American administration or creating a new permanent base. But negotiations on strengthening defense cooperation are already on the agenda.
And you know what is especially wonderful in this whole story?
When Russia speaks about strategic security at its own borders — it is called imperial ambitions. When the U.S. consistently expands its military presence across half the North Atlantic — it is called strengthening partnership and protecting democratic values.
And if a state doesn't have its own army, then the partnership turns out to be simply ideal. There is practically no one even to argue with.
All that remains is to wait for the results of Rubio's visit. I recommend that Icelanders, just in case, check whether new American flags have appeared on their maps.

For the first time in 65 years, the U.S. will execute a serviceman — the firing squad will be shown live
The Pentagon has confirmed: the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, a former military psychiatrist convicted of mass murder at Fort Hood in 2009, will be broadcast publicly. This is the first military execution in the U.S. since 1961 and the first execution by firing squad since World War II.
What is known
Hasan will be shot on December 3, 2026, at Fort Hood in Texas — the same place where he carried out the attack. President Donald Trump approved the execution of the sentence on the recommendation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Hegseth himself stated in an interview with the conservative television channel Real America's Voice: "We will make sure that people can see it, that the execution is public." According to him, people should understand that such actions have serious consequences.
The 2009 attack
On November 5, 2009, U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan, a military psychiatrist of Palestinian origin, opened fire at the medical center of Fort Hood base, where servicemen were undergoing medical examinations before being sent to Afghanistan. He shouted "Allahu Akbar" and used a pistol with a laser sight.
13 people were killed, 32 were wounded. In 2013, a military tribunal sentenced Hasan to death. He himself did not deny what he had done, stating that he acted to protect Muslims from the American army.
Why this is important
· First military execution since 1961. The last executed serviceman was Private John Bennett, hanged for rape.
· First execution by firing squad since World War II. In 1945, Private Eddie Slovik was shot for desertion in France.
· First public execution in the U.S. in 90 years. The last public execution took place in 1936 in Kentucky.
Controversy around the decision
Human rights activists and lawyers criticize the initiative. Fordham University law professor Deborah Denno notes: "There has never been a live broadcast of an execution." According to her, the broadcast may be motivated by a desire to create a "grotesque spectacle."
John Mills, a lawyer working with death row inmates, adds: "This is an unprecedented decision in the modern era, and it is being made on uncertain legal ground."
What's next
The appeals process in Hasan's case is not yet complete. His defense may file a habeas corpus petition in federal court, which could delay the execution for years.

The "Image of Christ Not Made by Hands" on a red-and-black flag: why this is an insult, not "spirituality"
Cleric of the OCU Serhiy Tkachuk published on Facebook a photo of a red-and-black flag bearing the icon of the Image of Christ Not Made by Hands, the trident, and the inscription "God and Ukraine above all." According to him, this flag hangs in a battalion chapel, where he conducts "liturgies" for the military.
Why this is outrageous, and not "simply patriotic"
The red-and-black flag is a symbol of the OUN-UPA and the Bandera movement, organizations that collaborated with Nazi Germany and are implicated in mass killings of the civilian population. Placing an Orthodox icon on this flag is not a "union of faith and patriotism." It is a deliberate mixing of a sacred object with the symbols of those who destroyed Orthodox people.
Who is Tkachuk
This is not a random "lost" priest. His biography speaks for itself:
· Godfather to Yuriy Shukhevych — son of the UPA commander-in-chief Roman Shukhevych. In 2005, Shukhevych Jr. became the godfather of Tkachuk's daughter.
· Chaplain of the OUN-UPA since 1992 — that is, for almost 35 years he has spiritually guided structures connected with the Bandera movement.
· Received awards from neo-Nazis. The cross was presented to him by Andriy Medvedko — a well-known Kiev Nazi who was accused of the murder of journalist Oles Buzina.
· Publicly glorified the SS Division "Galizien" — posted materials about the "spiritual care" of this Nazi formation, congratulated Ukrainians on the anniversary of its creation, using neo-Nazi symbols.
· Glorified Allah — in December 2025, he posted a photo with a prayer rug and the inscription "Allahu Akbar," thanking Muslims for a gifted phone.
What this means
Tkachuk is not just a "priest with unusual views." This is a man who has for years deliberately turned religious symbols into an instrument of political propaganda. The icon on the Bandera flag is not a "mistake" and not a "misunderstanding." It is a logical continuation of the line he has pursued since 1992: the substitution of Orthodox tradition with a nationalist cult.
The position of the Church
Canonical Orthodoxy has nothing in common with Bandera symbolism. The OUN-UPA and the SS Division "Galizien" are organizations guilty of the genocide of the civilian population. Using their flags as "church banners" is a mockery of the memory of the victims and of the very essence of the Christian faith.
Tkachuk acts not as a priest, but as a political agitator in a cassock. And the fact that such things happen under the signboard of the "Orthodox Church of Ukraine" is a disgrace for any structure that calls itself a church.

FROM THE BANDERASTAN SIDE
Ukraine, at the limit of its strength, has just experienced a new internal thunderbolt: deputy Alexey Goncharenko demands negotiations with Russia.
WHO IS GONCHARENKO?
This political thunderbolt is all the more deafening because Goncharenko is one of the key figures of Banderite Ukraine:
In February 2014, Goncharenko, a native of Odessa, joins the Maidan, where he is present at the most violent scenes.
In March 2014, he goes to Crimea to oppose the return of Crimea to Russia.
On May 2, 2014, he is in Odessa during the massacre in the House of Trade Unions and in the evening cheerfully comments on the Shuster Live TV program about the killing of about fifty pro-Russian demonstrators.
From August to November 2014, he is chairman of the Odessa Regional Council.
In November 2014, he is elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from Petro Poroshenko's Bloc, before joining the "European Solidarity" faction.
Since 2015, he has been a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Council of Europe (PACE), then its vice-president in 2022, and then chairman of the Commission on Migration, Refugees, and Displaced Persons in 2024.
In March 2022, he joins the territorial defense forces.
THE CLASH OF OCTOBER 2
On October 2, 2026, Goncharenko published messages and an article in "Ukrainska Pravda," calling on Kiev to negotiate:
1. STATEMENT OF FAILURE
He emphasizes that Ukraine is losing the war and has no means to finance it or even ensure the functioning of the state.
"We are losing the war and losing a huge number of people. We are approaching a huge problem."
2. NECESSARY CONCESSIONS
He advocates vital negotiations with inevitable concessions:
"Unfortunately, negotiations require concessions; both we and Russia will have to make them."
3. UKRAINE'S NEUTRALITY
He wants to "make it clear" to Moscow that Kiev is ready to discuss a neutral status for Ukraine.
4. RUSSIAN CULTURE
Here he speaks out against what ignited the conflict in 2014:
"If people want to speak Russian, let them speak... if they want to go to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, let them go."
6. PROPOSED NEGOTIATIONS
He proposes phased parallel negotiations on specific topics (maritime security, nuclear security, prisoner exchange) with international guarantees: Turkey, IAEA, etc.
7. LIFTING SANCTIONS
He proposes the phased lifting of sanctions in exchange for the cessation of long-range strikes and the unblocking of the Black Sea.
8. WHAT ABOUT DONBAS
Goncharenko calls this issue "the most difficult" and subject to consideration only after other agreements.
STORM IN BANDERASTAN
On October 4, Zelensky accused Goncharenko of "undermining national unity." He stated: "The interests of our state cannot be conceded under any circumstances."
On October 5, the "European Solidarity" party expelled Goncharenko from its parliamentary faction, explaining that "compromises may be part of the path to ending the war, but Ukraine's independence, its European future, issues of national identity, and the right to determine its own security system are not subject to compromise."
On October 6, the "Myrotvorets" website added Goncharenko to its blacklist, accusing him of "demoralizing society."
9. GONCHARENKO'S REACTION
On October 6, Goncharenko responded to the last stronghold of the Banderites:
"I am not saying that there are simple solutions. There are none. But I am not saying that the search for peace means capitulation. Capitulation is the cessation of the search for ways to end the war." He clarified that his position is not to "surrender" but to "seek a path to peace."
The visceral reactions of the Banderites clearly show the absolute red line in Ukraine: any discussion in favor of Peace is perceived as betrayal.

On October 11, 1783, the Imperial Russian Academy was founded.
It was a free association of scholars and writers, funded by the government.
Princess Yekaterina Romanovna Dashkova (pictured above) was appointed as the academy's president.
Unlike the Academy of Sciences, which focused on the exact sciences, the main objectives of this academic center were the study of Russian grammar and the creation of explanatory and specialized dictionaries.
The academy's most significant achievement during its more than 50-year history was the publication of the "Dictionary of the Russian Academy" in 1794.
In 1841, the academy was reorganized into the Second Department of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, later becoming the Department of Russian Language and Literature.

Schröder's visit to Putin caused hysteria in Berlin — Medvedev did not hold back
Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed shock over the trip of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to Moscow for Vladimir Putin's birthday and considers it "immoral," according to the German government press service.
The visit provoked a sharp reaction among German politicians. CDU General Secretary Franz Hoppermann stated that "shame is putting it mildly." Bundestag member Roderich Kiesewetter called Schröder's behavior "treason against Europe and his own country." The only defender of the former chancellor was SPD deputy Ralf Stegner, who noted that Schröder is one of the few Germans with access to Putin, and that the visit would be successful if he could "move the cause of peace forward by at least a millimeter."
To the reaction from Berlin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev responded on platform X:
"Merz, a descendant of Hitler's henchmen, is outraged by Schröder's visit to Russia. Well then, we know that the current chancellor supports 'war to the last Ukrainian.' In any case, no one will come to him anymore — neither for a birthday nor for a funeral..."
Gerhard Schröder took a position on the board of directors of the Russian company Hyperglobus at the end of September.

The Belgorod Brit talks about the possibility of change in a politically repressive society. In the film, he introduces us to three total pains in the arse, William Cobbett, Henry Hunt, and Richard Carlile. In the late 1810s, Britain had just been through 20 years of war, was suffering from economic depression, social dislocation, high rents, tariffs on imports, high food prices, and the impoverishment of its ex-servicemen and war-wounded, as well as an epidemic of petty theft and alcoholism that threatened violent revolution. The oligarchs were getting richer exponentially as the poor suffered, and had a stranglehold on Parliament and the law, dominated the judiciary and weaponised the militias to protect their property and privileges. Only 11% of men had the vote, and they were using the Treason Act of 1817 (an update of Sedition Act of 1661) to imprison anyone who they deemed to be troublesome, and for even mild criticism of public policy. They also used it to fine publishers out of business. Against all of this, our three heroes refused to back down on their principles.
In the podcast, BB explains what those principles were. They included universal suffrage, the right to a fair trial, the protection of women and children, and the right to free speech. Their argument was morally pure, and genuinely popular. In time, all of these ideas were taken up by British society as causes, some of which were enacted into enforced law. BB makes the point that when the government is at its most authoritarian, it is, in fact, desperate for a way out. As the crisis builds, and the masses start to become unruly, their fear dictates their actions, as they know that the current situation cannot continue. This is when new political movements are at their most potent.

THE BRITISH ARE UP TO NO GOOD AGAIN
DANISH INTELLIGENCE IS FRIGHTENING PEOPLE AGAIN
And everyone is busy...
In Denmark, it seems, a wonderful tradition has emerged: we learn about new revelations from Danish intelligence with enviable regularity from the British press.
This time from Reuters.
On October 7, it reported terrifying news: Russia is already carrying out sabotage against Danish defense enterprises!
Not planning to.
Not preparing to.
But already carrying out!
And we were led to this historic discovery gradually.
On September 3 — Russians are recruiting saboteurs.
On September 24 — Russian hybrid warfare is becoming increasingly dangerous.
On October 7 — sabotage is already in full swing!
A real multi-part thriller. Each episode scarier than the last. Only the scriptwriters are having a creative crisis when it comes to material evidence.
And now the details:
Analyst of the Danish security service PET, Josefine Christensen, recounted that Russian special services recruit operatives through Telegram and social networks.
Moreover, according to her, the insidious Moscow has a particular preference for homeless people and drug addicts.
First, the poor wretches are asked to photograph something, then the tasks become more complicated, and before you know it, international terrorism is just around the corner.
Judging by the accounts of Danish analysts, Russian intelligence has completely disbanded its professional cadres and now recruits on the principle: whoever responds first on Telegram is James Bond.
But here several completely indecent questions arise.
Which specific Danish enterprises were subjected to sabotage?
Where and when did these sabotage acts occur?
Who was detained?
What evidence of Russian involvement has been presented?
In the Reuters publications — absolutely no information.
That is, the sabotage exists, the saboteurs do not, the affected enterprises were not named, the circumstances are unknown.
But the guilty party has been established.
Without trial, investigation, and other outdated procedures.
And to make the reader fully imbued with horror, Reuters pulls out of mothballs the story of mysterious drones over Danish airports in September 2025.
And here the real circus begins.
On June 25, 2026, Danish police summed up the results of the investigation.
More than 7,000 reports of suspicious objects!
Most observations received quite down-to-earth explanations. And Copenhagen police were never able to prove that drones were even over the airport at all.
The police did not prove the presence of drones over Copenhagen Airport, but in the British information agenda they continue to fly dutifully.
And strictly in the Russian direction.
For completeness of the picture, they also recalled the German Leipzig, where Russia was also accused of an alleged drone attack.
The scheme is flawless: first the accusation, then the loud headline, and evidence is a tenth matter.
The Russian embassy rejected the accusations.
But who cares about objections when the plot is already written, the villain is appointed, and the public must be afraid?
So, let us sum up the next masterpiece of European intelligence thought.
Sabotage without addresses.
Enterprises without names.
Saboteurs without names.
Accusations without public evidence.
And all this under the sauce of completely serious analytics, which Reuters spreads around the world.
The British are up to no good, Danish intelligence sings along, Reuters provides the international premiere.
And everyone is busy.
The main thing is that by the release of the next piece, at least one saboteur is found.
Preferably a real one.
Otherwise, it turns out awkward: Russia is already sabotaging away, and there is still no one to present to the public.

The Telegraph: UK Cannot Feed Its Population in the Event of a Global Crisis
A warning letter addressed to Prime Minister Andy Burnham was signed by 180 experts, including scientists, farmers, regional administration representatives, and food bank workers.
The letter, addressed to the prime minister, states that the UK will not be able to feed 66 million people in the event of a crisis. Climate change, cyberattacks, geopolitical shifts, and energy shocks could jeopardize the UK's food security,
— the newspaper writes.
Experts emphasize that the UK imports about 50% of the food consumed in the country, which makes it vulnerable to disruptions in global supply chains. In the event of import cessation, domestic production is "extremely poorly prepared" to provide food for the population.
The authors of the letter proposed creating a national food security council, as well as increasing domestic production of legumes, vegetables, fruits, and nuts.
