The 4 Noble Truths.pdf

Hey Everyone!!!!

This is a summary of the notes that weโ€™ve compiled over the 4 Noble Truth series. This is a rather long read, but we hope that you may find it useful for your cultivation. The Noble Truths, are after all the basis to Buddhism.

We will like to extend our gratitude for those who have tirelessly and diligently joined us on this journey, as we embarked on the 4 Noble Truths Series, amidst the evolving Covid-19 situation. We also like to thank Venerable Chuan Guan for his efforts to teach us and show us this path to enlightenment. Finally, we will like to thank NUS Medical Dhamma Circle, for their contribution in terms of their support and towards the compilation of the notes.

We hope to dedicate the merits accumulated from this 4 Noble Truth Series to all in Suffering. May all find peace and tranquility needed to develop the wisdom towards final liberation.

Hey everyone!!!

We have decided to start a brand new series on Meditation!!! But why meditation?

In this series, we intend to tackle some of the issues we struggle with in our daily lives, including anger, restlessness... We believe that the meditation practise can allow us to quieten down our body and minds, to understand these issues and better overcome them!

We have invited Venerable Chuan Guan (CG) to lead us in this series. Ven. CG was ordained under the Mahayana Tradition by Master Miu King in 2002. He has practised meditation from various traditions including both Mahayana schools and Theravadin schools.

This series is intended for practitioners both new and advanced in their meditation as different Meditation techniques will be explored!

We shall begin with the first problem, โ€œCravingsโ€. The link for todayโ€™s session is
https://nus-sg.zoom.us/j/655613713

Do take note that the session starts at 7pm!!! We suggest you grab a light dinner before meditation, so that you can focus better.

See you!

Hey everyone!!

This Friday we will continue with the meditation led by Venerable Chuan Guan!! The topic will be on โ€œAngerโ€. Anger, ill will and aversion are emotions and feelings that arise when we face things that are unpleasant. For example, how do we react when we hear somebody cough, during the Covid-19 situation? When something does not go your way, do we react with irritation? The meditation will be centred around tackling these emotions.

Once again; the meeting will be on Zoom:
https://nus-sg.zoom.us/j/655613713

The session starts at 7pm. Try to avoid a heavy dinner to meditate better!! We hope to see you there! Stay safe, be well and be happy!

Hey Everyone!

This Friday, we will continue with the weekly meditation led by Venerable Chuan Guan. This week, the topic is on "Laziness".
Laziness is a hindrance that we all face, be it on the spiritual journey or in our everyday lives. Despite knowing what is best for us, we may not have the motivation or energy to dedicate our efforts. Hopefully, through this session, we hope to provide you with a tool for you to refocus your attention and direct your efforts towards your growth.

The session will be conducted on Zoom:
https://nus-sg.zoom.us/j/655613713

It will start at 7pm. Do grab your dinner, but make sure it isn't too heavy. Finally, stay home, stay safe and may you be well! To our friends having their examinations, we wish you all the very best and that you excel, despite the difficulties that you may face during this enduring time.
Hey Everyone,

Venerable Chuan Guan will be holding a one-day meditation retreat tomorrow, from 8am to 8pm. If you are interested, you can find out more here!

Happy Meditating!
Hey Everyone!

This week, we will continue with the weekly meditation series, on the topic of "Restlessness", under the guidance of Venerable Chuan Guan.

Restlessness is an issue. Specifically, it is an issue that we face, when we intend to do something. Something that we want to put effort into, or we know we have a need to complete. Meditation which aims to train one's concentration seems to be the solution to this problem. Is that really true? What about when we feel restless during our meditation? Wil meditation really help to tackle our restlessness? Find out more by joining us this Friday at 7pm on Zoom!

The link is: https://nus-sg.zoom.us/j/655613713

Finally, we hope that all will be well, safe and happy! Looking within, may all find peace during this enduring time.

Hey Everyone!!

Happy weekend! Hope everyone has had a fruitful week! This post is regarding Vesak Day, as we know social gathering is being prohibited due to the Covid-19 situation. However, though we may not be physically present to partake in Vesak Day activities, there are still other ways to partake in Vesak Day celebration online!!

Therefore, we will like to share the efforts of our spiritual friends from the Singapore Buddhist Federation. They are leading an initiative called Buddhist UNITED to consolidate and publicise all Buddhist activities that will be happening on Vesak Day, 7th May 2020. We aim to share information and reach out to the entire Buddhist community in Singapore via Facebook to celebrate this meaningful occasion.

So hop on over to their Facebook page to find out more, at:

We hope this message finds you well! May your practice be fruitful and liberating!
