Hey everyone!

This week, our Dhamma Talks will continue with the topic “Compassion Towards Defilements”. We are honoured to have Venerable Jian Xin share with us for this upcoming session. Venerable Jian Xin pursued Sociology during her undergraduate studies at NUS. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of London, England. Being ordained under the Mahayana tradition, Venerable Jian Xin has made aspirations to walk the Bodhisattva Path since she was 15.

Defilements are a concept familiar to those who have learnt more about Buddhism or have the intention to cultivate. If one does not have the heart to practice, what defilements are there to speak of? However, as we struggle against the currents of our habitual tendencies and sometimes succumb to the fallibility of the human condition, these are times when the practice of Compassion comes in. Join us this Friday as we explore the topic further.

The details are as follows:

Venue: Zoom

That too is part of the wisdom of defilements. We hope that you’ve found the session useful and enriching. Have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe and be happy!:)

Hey everyone!

This week, our Dhamma Talks will continue with the topic “Impermanence, Suffering, Non-Self: Is Buddhism too Pessimistic?”.

The Three Universal Characteristics, are qualities that we as Buddhists ruminate upon constantly. It keeps us grounded amidst our pursuits and for some, gives them purpose to life. Yet, in today’s context, where positive thinking is heavily emphasised, these teachings seems not only deflationary to one’s ego, but too one’s optimism. Therefore, join us this Friday, as we explore further, are the Buddhist teachings too pessimistic?

Hey everyone!

Venerable Jian Xin will be having a talk this Sunday with the Singapore Buddhist Federation. The topic will be “Is Faith Important in Buddhist Practice?”

If you are interested do check out the following poster!
Thank you for joining us, everyone!
This is certainly not an easy topic to approach. However, given our deep-rooted defilements, it would be unwise or irrational to assume the search of answers to be any more superficial, should we hope for spiritual progress. We are so grateful to have all of you join us on this journey! May this courage and patience in the Dhamma learning process guide you in your practice. As we conclude the month of July, we hope that you’ve had a meaningful July and an even more purposeful August ahead! Be well and happy!:)
