*"Looking Forward" Campaign with the Slogan "Drive Mindfully" Announced for Nowruz 1404*

The Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization has announced the launch of the "Looking Forward" cultural-safety campaign as part of the Nowruz 1404 (Iranian New Year) travel plan. Running from March 13 to April 15, 2025, the campaign stresses focused driving and promotes its key slogan, "Drive Mindfully" This year’s initiative will highlight the pivotal role of mothers and women in shaping safe behavior and reducing driver-related risks.
His Excellency Reza Akbari, Deputy Minister and RMTO Chairman stressed the priority of road travel safety. "Beyond transport and road safety arrangements, the 'Looking Forward' campaign aims to create greater awareness among road users about safety during travel. During the current Iranian year, the campaign’s focus is on the critical role of vehicle passengers, particularly mothers and women, in supporting safe and responsible driving," Dr. Akbari stated.

The Role of Mothers and Women in Road Safety
Dr. Akbari underscored the importance of informed and responsible companions during family trips, describing their influence as "the difference between life and death." He noted, "Mothers, with their influential role in the family, and women, with their capacity to reduce risk-taking during trips, play a crucial role in ensuring safe travel. This year’s campaign places them at the heart of its message, promoting safety, saving lives, and fostering collective well-being."
Akbari highlighted that approximately 40% of traffic fatalities involve vehicle passengers. He warned that silence in the face of unsafe driving behaviors or actions that distract the driver—such as creating haste or encouraging risky maneuvers—can lead to accidents and fatalities. Conversely, he emphasized that positive behaviors, such as maintaining a calm atmosphere, encouraging safe driving and keeping the driver alert, significantly enhance travel safety.

Goals of the Campaign
The campaign’s objectives include:
• Reducing road accidents and fatalities during Nowruz, a high-risk travel period.
• Raising public awareness about safe driving and passenger responsibility.
• Promoting a culture of responsibility among drivers and companions.
• Encouraging collective participation to minimize risks for road users.
• Highlighting the role of mothers and women as key influencers in reducing driver risk-taking behavior.
• Lowering the social and economic costs of road accidents.
H.E. Akbari also stressed the importance of encouraging drivers to stop and rest during long journeys, using creative and cultural approaches to engage road users and reduce accidents.

Implementation Strategies
For the Nowruz 1404 campaign, "Looking Forward" stations will be established on the busiest roads across the country. The campaign will leverage national media, social networks, and environmental resources to distribute diverse and engaging educational materials tailored to different age groups.
The initiative will also incorporate cultural, artistic, and community-based programs to raise awareness and promote safe driving habits. Akbari expressed hope that these efforts, combined with other transportation and safety measures, would allow citizens to enjoy safe and memorable trips during Nowruz.
The campaign represents a comprehensive approach to road safety, drawing on the collective responsibility of drivers, passengers, and the broader community to minimize risks and protect lives during the holiday season.
