Science Corporation implants a vision-restoring chip in a patient
A patient with an incurable genetic eye condition read a word on a screen after receiving a microchip behind the retina 👁️. In May, Science Corporation implanted the PRIMA device into its first patient with Stargardt disease at Sydney Eye Hospital. The procedure was led by Max Hodak.
The disease destroys light-sensitive cells in the outer layer of the eye, leaving inner retinal signals intact. Around 150,000 people worldwide have lost vision due to this condition. The chip works alongside special glasses equipped with a camera that beams visual data directly to the microchip.
The next generation of the implant, featuring a wider field of view and smaller electrodes, will reach people within 1 year.

Pig kidneys frozen for a year brought back to life
Scientists at University of Minnesota successfully rewarmed pig kidneys cooled to -150 °C and stored in a glass-like state for a year, proving the organs can function again. 🧊🧬
This milestone could eventually help solve severe donor shortages by allowing long-term organ banking. #science ⚡ #health ⚡ #medicine
