It seems that, with the obligation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and already available by obligation in iOS version 17.4, which allows installation through third-party, there's a catch. Apple will let developers launch their alternative stores, but there's a fee after a certain point, and it's limited to the "number of free installations available."

Apple allows installation based on certain terms, and after reaching the limit of free installations (1 million) a store can offer, they will be required to pay a fee to continue distributing their apps or games. This ensures that no pirated or modified applications are available to users through these stores.
