🎙Permanent Delegate of Russia to #UNESCO R.Alyautdinov at #IPDC Intergovernmental Council:

📍Russia utterly rejects UNESCO Director-General’s report on Safety of Journalists that completely ignores killings of Russian journalists in 2022-2023.

📍In these 2 years alone, journalists D.Dugina, V.Tatarsky, O.Klokov, R.Zhuravlev, B.Maksudov were killed by Kiev regime. Information about their killings was transmitted to Secretariat via diplomatic channels.

📍Director-General’s report does not reflect real state of affairs about safety of journalists. It is based on distorted data, thus becoming a source of disinformation.

📍Director-General's selective approach in responding to journalists' killing is a violation of General Conference & Executive Board decisions to "condemn killing of journalists without distinction."

📍We call on #IPDC Member States to take decisive action aimed at countering Secretariat's voluntary actions discriminating some Member States what runs counter to ideals & principles of #UNESCO.

April 11 marks the International Day of Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camps.

This date was established by #UNESCO in 1952 in memory of the uprising of prisoners in #Buchenwald (April 11, 1945) — one of the largest concentration camps in Nazi Germany.

The Day of Liberation symbolizes solidarity and resistance against all forms of violence, discrimination, and genocide, and calls on to remember history and prevent the recurrence of the terrible tragedy of #WW2.

In Nazi Germany and on the territories occupied by the Reich, a system of organised extermination of people was created — a vast network of concentration camps and so-called “death factories.” Millions of prisoners from the USSR and European countries were held there under terrible and inhumane conditions, many of whom were brutally murdered by Nazi criminals. During the years of the war, more than 20 million people from 30 countries passed through concentration camps.

The system of Hitler’s concentration camps was destroyed as a result of the Victory over Nazism and the defeat of the Third Reich. The first Nazi “death factory”, whose prisoners were saved from by the Red Army, was the #Majdanek concentration camp (Poland) in July 1944. Later, prisoners of #Belzec, #Sobibor, #Treblinka, #AuschwitzBirkenau, #Stutthof, #Sachsenhausen, #Ravensbrück, and others were also liberated.

#NoStatuteOfLimitations

◼️ As in Europe, after the invasion of the USSR, the Nazi criminals created a network of concentration camps with the only purpose — to systematically exterminate the population of our country regardless of ethnicity, race, or religion.

According to the criminal plans of the leadership of the Third Reich, Soviet citizens, irrespective of their ethnicity, race, or religion, were to be killed or subjected to “Germanization” in Nazi slavery.

One such camp on the territory of our Motherland was the so-called #BryanskBuchenwald—“Dulag-142,” where in just two years (!) more than 40’000 Soviet civilians perished (👉 by comparison, approximately the same number of people were killed over the entire nine years of operation of the SS Buchenwald camp in Thuringia).

◼️ Approximately 13.7 million Soviet people fell victims of the ruthless policy of exterminating those deemed “inferior” by Nazi Germans.

Due to the inhumane conditions of forced labor and inhumane treatment in Nazi concentration camps in the USSR, more than 2 million prisoners died in suffering, including tens of thousands of children and adolescents.

It is documentally established that at least 7.4 million Soviet civilians were deliberately killed by Nazi occupants — shot dead, burned, or buried alive.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, in cooperation with the Investigative Committee, other competent agencies, as well as the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation and the Russian Military Historical Society, is systematically working to establish the legal classification of the crimes of Nazi invaders as genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union. Joint efforts are taken to systematise knowledge about the genocide.

❗️ As part of efforts to
preserve the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people, documentary and multimedia materials have been prepared, recording numerous crimes committed by the Nazis during the occupation of our country and other nations.

#AntiFake

👉 We cannot ignore the way France’s Ambassador to Russia Nicolas de Rivière, so to say, 'scored an own goal', in his recent interview (with TV Rain, known in Russian as 'Dozhd' TV — a media outlet designated as a foreign agent and undesirable organisation in Russia).

While discussing Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with France Télévisions, the Ambassador ventured to utter statements which absolutely defy any objective verification:
“First of all, I would like to emphasise that we, in France, are totally committed to freedom of the press and the media. And the fact that the Russian Foreign Minister has free access to French television proves this.”

🤔 This begs the following question

If, according to Nicolas de Rivière, the ability of a media outlet to interview individuals at its discretion can serve as a benchmark for the freedom of speech, then why, following the release of Sergey Lavrov’s interview, France Télévisions was subjected to crashing criticism, if not harassment, from its liberal-minded peers not only at home, but also in other countries of the so-called collective West?

Their main message was — the Russian Foreign Minister must be denied the opportunity to speak out.

France’s former Minister for European Affairs, MEP Nathalie Loiseau, expressed her indignation at the “wrong interview.” Member of the National Assembly, Laurent Mazaury, rushed to report on France-2 to Arcom — the governmental media regulator.

It got to the point that even the so-called 'Russia experts' from the Foundation for Strategic Research, the French Institute of International Relations, and the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures rushed to scream an outrageous “Shame!” to French state television, as if someone instructed them to act this way, instead of at least trying to read through Sergey Lavrov’s positional statements.

👉 They have, thus, once again confirmed the level of 'expertise' of France’s leading research centres. You can use the following links to discover several other compelling examples: 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣ 4️⃣ 5️⃣ 6️⃣ 7️⃣ 8️⃣

The Russian media outlets and journalists, especially those sent to France with 'high democratic ideals', have fully experienced France’s would-be commitment to the principles of media freedom, pluralism and a its critical spirit, as Mr Ambassador put it. <...>

France, whose representatives are so vocal about tolerance from all points of view, in reality does not want to listen to anyone but itself and like-minded people. Paris is ready to openly violate its obligations as the host country of #UNESCO headquarters and unjustifiably refuse to issue visas to our diplomats rather than give them an opportunity to express their point of view. <...>

In view of the above, obviously, a selective approach to freedom of speech has already become a routine in France.

***

Let us note another important point.

The interview of the French Ambassador is full of hackneyed Western clichés about “Russian aggression” and Ukraine as a “victim.” Nicolas de Rivière knows firsthand about France’s participation in the work of the Normandy process, which, as former President of France Francois Hollande later explained, served only as a smokescreen for the French leadership, for winning time for the Kiev regime.

This regime spent eight years killing civilians in #Donbass with impunity by taking advantage of the leniency of its Western curators.

So, by presenting Ukraine as a “victim of aggression,” the French authorities are trying to absolve themselves of responsibility for the failure of the Minsk agreements and justify, including in the eyes of their own voters, their destructive role in the hot conflict that broke out in Ukraine. <...>

❗️ Rather than making loud and misleading statements and multiplying fakes, Paris and its representatives should have thought about the lack of freedom of speech at home.
