Marks scored in prelims 2019
Guys please be honest. Its just a way to arrive at a general cutoff. Please share this poll so that we can know where you people stand.
So the first battle of the war is over. Everyone had fought valiantly and given all that you've in today's exam. I'm analyzing the cut off marks and I'll post it soon. Till then take a break for few days.
In my first attempt I took a very long break and started answer writing only after my prelims. That had costed me a lot.
I've been in Delhi for a long time and I've seen how people prep there. They start writing answers by joining tests series in the month of Sept or Oct itself. Sadly, test series in chennai starts only after Prelims. So its important that you start writing answers from now on.

Your starting point should be the previous year question papers. Start attempting those. You can also do insights daily questions or pick up vision ias or GS Score or anything for that matter and start writing answers. That's what will help you to score max.

I've a lot of initiatives coming up for Mains. This time I'll be doing a lot of close interactions with people. I'm speaking with many toppers also. Stay tuned in this space for more.

Also do share this Channel with your friends to whom it can be useful.
#CutOffUpdate

Last year when I asked people about their marks, most were under 100. Scoring above 100 was seen as a sure shot to victory and 110 was a score which could have made even into forest services.

The cut off was at 98.

This year speaking with aspirants and seeing some online poll in our channel as well as few others, I can guarantee that many people have scored above 100. Considerable number is also scoring above 110.

But this year the number of seats are higher than last year's seats (782 vs 840).

So approximately 800 more people will be allowed to write mains. This will have a dampening effect on the cut off.

Also, yesterday's paper was on the lines of 2017 and 2015 question paper, albeit with an higher difficulty level. It was a quality paper with equal divisions of easy, medium and tough questions. The cut off in those years were around 105.

One more thing to note is that, EWS reservations are applicable this year. This may increase the general cutoff a notch higher.

Keeping all the above points in mind, its my humble prediction that this years General cutoff will be around 103-105.

The OBC cut off will be two numbers less. 98-103

SC cut off will be around 92+

ST cut off will be around 88+

So check your answers with 2-3 keys at max. If you're close in the numbers then start your preparation for mains after taking a break for few days. Wish you all the very best.
As I said you, I've amazing initiatives coming up. The first one is sharing some amazing answer scripts of toppers. I've a learnt a lot from looking into their answers and improving my writing. It's important that you too learn the little nuances of toppers answers in GS.

So here is the first answer script. It's by Nidhi for GS1.
