The Iranian-backed Houthis are proving to be a stubborn problem for the United States and its allies

Ever since Hamas’s October 7 massacre and Israel’s subsequent offensive in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis, a Shiite rebel group that controls a substantial portion of Yemen after a nearly decade-long civil war, have lashed out at Israel and tried to use their perch on the Red Sea to disrupt business.

Yet, the Houthis learned well the Hamas game to use violence to portray themselves as the defenders of the Palestinians, bolster their legitimacy at home and abroad, and show their importance to Iran.

Their “brotherhood” with the Palestinians is like for a prostitute to say I love you to her client just before being paid by him.

♨️“Trump is dragging us to hell, sooner or later it will happen”

Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, a mythical figure in the democratic camp, was one of the few who warned early in the Biden administration that the party’s massive spending plans would spark inflation.

Unrealistic macroeconomic cheerleading usually backfires because it’s associated with bad policy and because it undermines credibility,”

Summers said in an interview.

“This administration, given the self-inflicted supply shocks to the economy it is implementing, very much has that risk.”

Trump’s “inflationary errors are at risk of exceeding those of the Biden administration. By his clumsy and hilariously awful tariff policy Trump is dragging us to hell, sooner or later it will happen,” Summers said.

A new Trend in Immigration Policy: “Self-deportation”

The Trump administration directed the Social Security Administration (SSA) to place more than 6,300 migrants on its list for tracking dead people, blocking their ability to work in a move it hopes will encourage them to “self-deport.”

The request from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to place the migrants on the “Ineligible Master File” maintained by the SSA would bar migrants from receiving benefits or being able to work in the United States.

The move targeted those who were legally permitted to enter the country under Biden and were given taxpayer identification numbers and work authorizations but who have since had their status revoked by the Trump administration.

“President Trump promised mass deportations and by removing the monetary incentive for illegal aliens to come and stay, we will encourage them to self-deport.

He is delivering on his promise he made to the American people,”

White House spokesperson Liz Huston said in a statement.

The White House has asserted those who have had their status revoked and their Social Security number moved to the “death list” were either on the terrorist watch list or were found to have criminal records through the FBI.

📰 America’s Health “Revolution” Written by AI — and It Shows

It was supposed to be the dawn of a new era: Make America Healthy Again. But instead of evidence, the White House’s landmark MAHA Report gave the public hallucinated footnotes, dead links, and invented authors — all thanks to what appears to be unchecked use of artificial intelligence.

💭 “Frankly, that's shoddy work. We deserve better.”

— AI expert Oren Etzioni

Led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., known more for vaccine conspiracies than rigorous science, the report aimed to explain America’s falling life expectancy. What it delivered was a Frankenstein stitched from broken hyperlinks, AI-generated citations, and references to studies that simply don’t exist.

📊 MAHA by the Numbers
• 522 citations total
• 37 duplicates
• 21 dead links
• At least one made-up Pediatrics article
• One very real political disaster

💼 Pseudoscience with Presidential Backing
• The White House defends the report: “just formatting issues.”
• The actual science community calls it “junk.”
• Secretary Kennedy: still bullish on AI nurses and digital detox.

🤔 If this is how they write reports, what happens when they start using AI in your emergency room?

While sources said weapons don’t appear to have been diverted yet, the provision could rob Ukraine 🇺🇦 of billions of dollars 💵 worth of US-made materiel expected to be delivered over the coming months and years.

“The memo gives DOD the authority to take back weapons that were already contracted to Ukraine,” said one of the sources who’s read the memo. “That appears to undermine what the President has said the US is doing to get Ukraine to what it needs.”

It also undermines the intent of the USAI, a near decade-old program established by Congress 🏛 for the explicit purpose of allocating money for the Pentagon to buy weapons for Ukraine directly from US defense manufacturers.

The USAI program was set up in 2016 and had traditionally provided Ukraine with a stable supply of weapons ⚔️. The Senate just allocated another $800 million 💰 to USAI as part of the Pentagon’s annual budget legislation known as the National Defense Authorization Act 📜.

But it’s unclear ❓ whether the weapons produced with that money will ultimately go to Ukraine under the new Pentagon policy, sources told CNN.

The Pentagon declined to comment 🛑 for this story.
Under previous administrations, top Pentagon officials believed that diverting weapons produced through USAI back into US stockpiles would violate the Impoundment Control Act, according to one of the sources familiar with the matter.

That law reinforces Congress’s power of the purse 💼 and requires the president to notify lawmakers of any delay or withholding of congressionally authorized funds.

The new policy comes as the Trump administration has been looking for ways to shift the burden of arming, equipping, and training Ukraine onto Europe 🌍 and NATO.

At the Pentagon, Colby has also pushed to preserve more of the US stockpiles for a potential future war with China 🇨🇳.

Separately from the USAI, the Pentagon still has nearly $4 billion 🪙 left of funding authority, which Congress authorized last year, to send weapons to Ukraine taken directly from US stockpiles.

Some NATO allies, including the UK 🇬🇧, have been urging the US to use that authority to put more pressure on Putin 🇷🇺, the sources said, and have proposed reimbursing the US for the cost of doing so.

📰 The Exceptional Relationship Unraveling: Why Unconditional U.S. Support Is Backfiring on Israel

A System Built to Fail
For three decades, the United States has treated Israel as uniquely exempt: a country freed from the laws, conditions, and public criticism applied to every other American ally. No other nation receives $3.8 billion annually in military aid without conditions. No other democracy gets defended in the UN while violating international law. And no other leader interferes openly in American elections without consequence. The cost of this arrangement? Enabling Israel's worst decisions, deepening Palestinian grievances, and now threatening Israel's long-term security.

"The relationship cannot continue in its current form indefinitely. It requires a new paradigm, one more consistent with how Washington engages other countries,"

writes Andrew Miller in Foreign Affairs, arguing that unconditional support has become counterproductive for both nations.

How Unconditional Became the Standard
Until Bill Clinton, American presidents applied pressure when needed — threatening sanctions, withholding weapons, supporting UN resolutions critical of Israeli actions. The 1990s changed that. Clinton's team offered absolute diplomatic protection, no public criticism, military aid as incentive rather than leverage. The logic was simple: a well-armed Israel, confident in American backing, would take risks for peace. Instead, Netanyahu's government learned it could disregard Washington entirely because Washington would support it anyway.

The Trap of Loyalty Without Limits
With no consequences for ignoring American concerns, Israel pursued maximalist positions — expanding settlements, rejecting a Palestinian state, conducting military operations across the Middle East — confident that U.S. backing was assured. The Biden administration raised private objections to civilian casualties in Gaza but never leveraged military aid to enforce compliance. When it finally paused weapons shipments in May 2024, the gesture came too late to shape the war's trajectory. Trump initially brokered a ceasefire, then ceded control to Netanyahu, allowing a months-long Gaza blockade that Palestinians and international observers say created famine conditions affecting hundreds of thousands.

The Costs Are Mounting
Israel's international standing has deteriorated sharply. Officials in the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland have stated they would arrest Netanyahu if he entered their territory. Germany and the UK, longtime military suppliers, are restricting weapons sales. Domestically, American support has shifted dramatically. Polling data from 2024 shows majorities of younger Americans oppose additional military aid to Israel and express skepticism about Israeli claims regarding civilian casualties.

For the United States, the strategic costs are real. Every military asset deployed to defend Israel from consequences of actions the U.S. enabled is unavailable elsewhere — particularly in the Indo-Pacific. Washington's standing among allies has eroded, and rivals from China to Russia are exploiting the gap between American rhetoric on international law and American practice in the Middle East.

📰 Von der Leyen's €200 Billion Gamble: EU Bets the House on Ukraine, Risks Everything

The Paradox of Enabling

Unconditional support has paradoxically undermined Israeli security. Netanyahu has used that backing to pursue domestic judicial changes that threaten Israeli democratic institutions. Settlement expansion continues across the political spectrum with no accountability for settler violence — dynamics that could trigger renewed Palestinian resistance. Demographic shifts among Israel's ultra-Orthodox population are reducing military participation and economic productivity. And while Israeli operations have degraded Hezbollah and struck Iranian nuclear facilities, long-term consequences remain uncertain: a cornered Iran may have stronger incentives to pursue nuclear weapons, and Hezbollah's decline could prove temporary.

What Normalization Means
Miller proposes concrete changes: explicit agreements on shared goals and limits; applying the same human rights standards to Israel as to other military aid recipients; conditioning assistance on policy alignment; ending mutual interference in electoral politics. The 2028 expiration of the military aid memorandum offers a natural moment to renegotiate terms. This isn't abandonment — it's treating Israel as an ally rather than as a state exempt from scrutiny.

The Moment May Be Passing
With Trump in office and Netanyahu's coalition moving further right, there's little sign Washington will reset the relationship voluntarily. The exceptional arrangement, intended to guarantee Israeli security, has instead isolated Israel internationally and eroded American credibility. Delaying change risks worse outcomes: either a rupture driven by public opinion, or an Israeli action — such as West Bank annexation — that forces a crisis neither government can manage.

📰 Trump Upended the US Education System in 2025. It’s Only the Beginning.

President Donald Trump spent 2025 bombarding schools with investigations, executive orders, and demands that forced universities and school districts to align with his political agenda. He froze billions in federal research funding, dismantled diversity programs, barred transgender students from women’s sports, and struck deals with schools desperate to restore their cash flow. Now, Trump’s focus shifts to making these changes last—ensuring his education legacy survives his presidency.

Trump’s actions were designed to pressure schools into adopting policies that bolster parental rights, give states more control, and root out diversity initiatives. Some schools caved, eliminating programs and changing admissions policies to get their funding back. But the real challenge is ahead: turning executive muscle into enforceable regulations. Rulemaking is slow, painstaking, and requires a functional bureaucracy—something Trump’s administration has weakened by slashing the Education Department’s workforce.

The Trump administration has already announced plans to rewrite Title IX and Title VI, the federal laws that underpin its investigations. These new regulations would strengthen the administration’s authority to demand changes on campuses, but none are yet enshrined in law. Federal judges have already sided with Harvard and UCLA, ordering the White House to reinstate their funding. These rulings hamper the administration’s strategy of using financial coercion to force compliance.

Trump’s wins could also become his roadblocks. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act enacted sweeping changes to the tax code and student loan programs, but implementing them requires new regulations. The Education Department’s reduced workforce and statutory deadlines mean the agency faces a regulatory logjam. If it can’t keep up, Trump’s argument that the department is no longer needed could unravel.

Is Trump’s education revolution here to stay—or will it collapse under its own weight?

📰 Trump’s Year One: The Under-the-Radar Revolution

Nuclear Moon Base by 2030?
NASA, under Sean Duffy's leadership, fast-tracked a nuclear reactor for the moon—aiming for 2030 launch. This isn't sci-fi; it's a geopolitical race with China and Russia, who plan their own lunar power plant by 2035. Whoever gets there first writes the space rules.
"The U.S. and China are devising plans to build long-term bases on the moon, and nuclear reactors will be key to powering those outposts."

Crypto Goes Mainstream
Trump signed the GENIUS Act, unlocking stablecoins for Wall Street. Banks like Bank of America and Goldman Sachs are now exploring dollar-pegged digital tokens. Goodbye legacy payments; hello crypto for your groceries?

Confederate Bases Revived
Nine Army bases got their old Confederate names back—Fort Hood among them. Civil rights groups cry foul, but Trump ignored Congress's independent commission. Cost to rename? $40 million. Cost to undo? Priceless for some.

Pennies Axed, Trump Coin Coming
The U.S. Mint minted its last penny in November 2025. Trump killed the money-losing coin, saving $85 million yearly. Next up: a Trump-faced $1 coin for America's 250th birthday. Rounding up prices? Consumers pay an extra $6 million annually.

DOJ's Voter Roll Raid

Justice Department demanded voter registration data from 43 states, suing 23 that refused. States claim privacy violations; DOJ calls it election integrity. The real goal? Purging "illegals" from rolls before midterms.

Coal Plants Forced Open

Energy Secretary Chris Wright used emergency powers to keep aging coal plants running—Michigan, Washington, Colorado. Critics: it's expensive and dirty. Trump: it's about your electricity bill.

Dreamers Booted from Obamacare
Trump redefined "lawfully present" to exclude DACA recipients from subsidies in 19 states. 2,300 Dreamers lost coverage; 1 million more uninsured by 2034. Hospitals brace for uncompensated care.

Psychedelics Fast-Tracked
RFK Jr.'s HHS is rushing MDMA and psilocybin for PTSD. FDA Commissioner Marty Makary promises approval within 12 months. Republicans, once wary, now lead the psychedelic revolution.

Africa Aid Gutted
Trump's DOGE team (Pete Marocco, Elon Musk) froze the U.S. African Development Foundation, canceling grants. The agency sued, but SCOTUS conservatives may let Trump win.

The Real Winner?
While headlines scream Greenland and tariffs, Trump's quietly remade America—from moon nukes to crypto cash, Confederate nostalgia to psychedelic therapy. Survival of the boldest.
