Hyderabad Gets India's First Private Space Debris Removal Facility

Hyderabad has taken another step towards strengthening its position in India's space technology sector with the launch of Base 1, a new facility by Cosmoserve Space aimed at developing technologies to remove space debris and service satellites.

Described as India's first private facility of its kind and the world's sixth, Base 1 brings together infrastructure for designing, building and testing satellite servicing systems.

The facility houses four key units-

🔘 an Orbital Rendezvous and Capture Lab

🔘 a Space Robotics Innovation Lab

🔘a satellite integration clean room

🔘 a Mission Simulation and Control Centre.

It will support satellite repairs, refuelling, and the removal of inactive satellites from orbit.
