Installed at PowerGrid’s National Test Station in Bina, Madhya Pradesh, this fully indigenous technology enables transmission of 6,000–8,000 MW of electricity across long distances with reduced losses, eliminating reliance on foreign equipment.

While Russia pioneered 1150 kV AC lines in 1985 and China continues to expand 1000 kV AC and ±1100 kV DC networks, India’s 1200 kV breakthrough surpasses these ratings, showcasing its ability to withstand extreme electromagnetic stress and positioning the country at the forefront of next-generation grid infrastructure.
