In fact, it seemed very odd given that nearly everyone already knew he was leaving. With the official confirmation nailed down, the rumors quickly circulated about where Alaba would go next and according to Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio, the Austrian will head to Real Madrid on a four-year deal worth €10 million (net) per season:David Alaba will leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer at the end of the season: in his future, starting from the next sporting year, there will be Real Madrid (Atalanta’s next opponent in the Champions League), a club with which he will sign a four-year contract of 10 million euros net per season.During his “decision” press conference yesterday, Alaba also gave a bit of a hint on at least one of his potential destinations:David Alaba about his Spanish: „My Spanish is not good, but good enough for the pitch“— Christian Falk (@cfbayern) February 16, 2021The list of suitors (as of now) reportedly stands at Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain as the prime contenders, while Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea are on the outside looking in unless Alaba changes his mind about the Premier League.Bayern not alone on Camavinga’s trail (@Plettigoal)Bayern Munich will be facing some stiff competition from Real Madrid on Stade Rennais F.C. midfielder Eduardo Camavinga per Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg:Update #Camavinga: Chief scout Neppe has already inquiried about him. Out of the question that he will fulfil his contract until 2022. In my opinion, one player would be suffice (I’m even okay with no midfield signings). It also remains to be seen exactly how Musiala is used most often. The youngster could slot in at the 8, 10, or at either wing. In addition, Torben Rhein is considered the jewel of Bayern Munich’s youth ranks right now and could be in line for a promotion to the senior…

Stade Reims v Stade Rennais - Ligue 1Photo by John Berry/Getty ImagesSport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg had former Bayern Munich technical director Michael Reschke on his “Meine Bayern Woche” podcast and Reschke opened up about one of the most persistent transfer rumors surrounding the Bavarians.Reschke told Plettenberg that he was “skeptical” about a move for Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga to Bayern Munich and categorized it as “unlikely.” There were several reasons for that assessment including timing, positional needs, and the other teams who were interested in Camavinga:Update #Camavinga: I asked Reschke, who works for his agency. EC to #FCBayern 2021? "I am sceptical about that. It's rather unlikely." Why? "The time factor, the positional needs & requirements of FCB & the alternatives EC has on the international market.” #MeineBayernWoche— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) April 9, 2021Reschke, who works for ICM Stellar Sports — the agency representing Camavinga, certainly offered an insider’s perspective on this particular transfer rumor. The “positional needs” aspect of this is the part that should hit home the most for Camavinga with regard to Bayern MunichBy all accounts, Bayern Munich is seeking to extend the contracts of both Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, while Marc Roca and Corentin Tolisso are also still scheduled to be on Bayern Munich’s roster next season. There have been rumors surrounding Tolisso, but nothing concrete has emerged as of yet. From there, Bayern Munich’s organizational depth gets a little murky.

@FCBayernEN: RT @Plettigoal: Update #Camavinga: #FCBayern is still interested in him. However, there are reports from his environment that FCB has "no chance". Rennes expects over 40 million €. Plenty of football clubs are interested in the player and Camavinga is, reportedly, ready to leave his club this summer. Among some big teams, Bayern Munich is also very interested in the services of the young Frenchman. But there are several obstacles for Bayern in their pursuit for Camavinga. Latest reports suggest that Rennes wants around 40 million euros for the player, and Eduardo wants a move to Real Madrid.Update #Camavinga: #FCBayern is still interested in him. His dream destination is @realmadrid. @SPORT1 #MeineBayernWoche— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) April 23, 2021One of the biggest obstacles for the Bavarians is, of course, the high price they will have to pay in order to acquire the player. Multiple reports suggest that Bayern won’t be active in the transfer market in the summer transfer window, as they already paid a lot of money for Dayot Upamecano. The next big problem for die Rekordmeister is that Camavinga only sees himself playing in Real Madrid’s jersey. Although it’s still early to assume anything, it is very unlikely that Bayern will be ready to spend big for an unproven player in these economically trying times, especially after the fiasco with Renato Sanches.

Germany Portraits - UEFA Euro 2020Photo by Boris Streubel - UEFA/UEFA via Getty ImagesCould Bayern Munich still make a move for a midfielder?According to SPOX journalist Kerry Hau, Bayern Munich still has interest in both Borussia Mönchengladbach star Florian Neuhaus and Stade Rennais up-and-comer Eduardo Camavinga. The problem for the Bavarians, however, is that they just do not have the financial capacity to play what it would take to pry either Neuhaus or Camavinga from their current clubs.- MF: Es besteht nach wie vor Interesse an #Camavinga und #Neuhaus, aber auch hier fehlt die finanzielle Bereitschaft in diesem Sommer. Man hofft auf den Durchbruch von #Roca unter Nagelsmann. Und: Die Verlängerung von #Goretzka hat aktuell ohnehin Priorität.— Kerry Hau (@kerry_hau) July 1, 2021MF: There is still interest in #Camavinga and #Neuhaus , but here too there is a lack of financial willingness this summer. One hopes for the breakthrough of #Roca under Nagelsmann. And: the extension of #Goretzka currently has priority anyway. What is unclear in Hau’s reporting is if a contract extension for Leon Goretzka or an emergence by Marc Roca would deter the Bavarians from making a run at Neuhaus or Camavinga next summer when the club should have more room in the budget. With Corentin Tolisso also not a lock to be on the roster this season, Bayern Munich could be looking for some young players on campus — or some cheap options on the transfer market — to bolster the midfield group if the opportunity presents itself.
