Meanwhile, the team reported that <a href="https://twitter.com/FCBayernEN/status/1554752640462241792">Manuel Neuer missed training</a> Wednesday with a case of the stomach bug — but it doesn’t sound too serious.TRUE✅ Mathys Tel (17) has now the permission of the UEFA to play for <a href="https://twitter.com/FCBayern?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@FCBayern</a>. The almost-friendly nature of the DFL-Supercup would have been a nice, low-stakes but still competitive environment for the seventeen-year-old to get his feet wet with the first team.As it happened, head coach Julian Nagelsmann made an effort to help with the youngster’s acclimation by bringing him along anyway, per Sport1’s Kerry Hau (<a href="https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia/status/1553861177305858048">as captured by @iMiaSanMia</a>):Despite his ineligibility for the game, Nagelsmann decided to take Mathys Tel to Leipzig. He’ll be able to return at the earliest on August 21st (another Sunday game) for the road trip to VfL Bochum.Young striker Joshua Zirkzee meanwhile missed practice due to illness:<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Zirkzee?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Zirkzee</a> ist nicht im Training, soll krankheitsbedingt fehlen. FC Bayern München v Sport-Club Freiburg - BundesligaPhoto by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty ImagesMane had plenty of praise for his teammate for his role in Bayern’s dismantling of SC Freiburg.Bayern Munich leapfrogged SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga table with their thoroughly convincing 5-0 victory over them at the Allianz Arena, and the score line perhaps even flatters Christian Streich just a bit. Bayern very easily could’ve scored more than five goals, but Julian Nagelsmann can be delighted with the fact that there were five different goal scorers on the night; Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sane, Sadio Mane and Marcel Sabitzer.Rotations based on injuries, suspensions, and resting some players ahead of the DFB-Pokal clash against FC Augsburg saw Nagelsmann field a starting attacking four of Choupo-Moting as the lone striker with Sane, Mane, and Gnabry behind him. It was the first time we’d seen this sort of starting lineup from Bayern so far this season, but it worked wonders against Freiburg.Speaking after the big win, Mane had high praise for Choupo-Moting, who did exceptionally well to spin his defender in Freiburg’s box after controlling Sane’s outside of the foot pass to slot one past Mark Flekken and make it 2-0 to Bayern. “What a player! He played well for us and was a big part of our win today. He fights a lot, wins almost all of his duels. He’s good at hitting the balls. A fantastic game from him,” he told Tz’s Philipp Kessler.#Mané über #ChoupoMoting: „Was für ein Spieler! Er hat gut für uns gespielt, hat heute einen großen Anteil an unserem Sieg. Er kämpft viel, gewinnt fast alle seine Zweikämpfe. Er kann die Bälle gut festmachen. Ein fantastisches Spiel von ihm.“ #FCBSCF #FCBayern— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) October 16, 2022He did have injury problems that kept him out of most of the beginning of the season thus far, but Choupo-Moting has still only made a total of eight appearances for Bayern thus far this season. Most of the aforementioned appearances have been as a substitute, as the start against Freiburg was his first start of the season. Despite not having a plethora of minutes under his belt, he’s still proven his worth, scoring twice and assisting once from his appearances, carrying on in the same vein as he had when most often serving as a backup to Robert Lewandowski.

FC Barcelona v FC Bayern Munchen: Group C - UEFA Champions LeaguePhoto by Joan Valls/Urbanandsport /NurPhoto via Getty ImagesShowing everyone how it’s done. After scoring a goal while swatting aside FC Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League and continuing his vein of form, red-hot Bayern Munich frontman Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting showed that he’s more than just a footballer and showcased his singing skills – sorry, rapping skills – after the game.At the team dinner, the Cameroonian performed a Notorious B.I.G. song in front of the team and it is evident that everyone else enjoyed it by tapping to the beat, especially Joshua Kimmich, Kingsley Coman, and Sven Ulreich. The vid is from Sadio Mané’s Instagram (as captured by Twitter account @CampusVid2)Scoring in Camp Nou against Barcelona and dropping a smooth Biggie performance afterwards is not for everybody.#ChoupoMoting #FCBFCB pic.twitter.com/eW31A6AvIi— BayernTalente (@CampusVid2) October 27, 2022The musical tradition at Bayern is in full swing and it’s not stopping anytime soon. Everyone from the men’s team, the Frauen, and even former coaching staff (sadly, there is no video footage of the greatest singing performance by someone affiliated with Bayern). This is honestly a great way to bond with the team and I hope it stays with the team for as long as possible.

FC Bayern München v 1. FC Union Berlin - BundesligaPhoto by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty ImagesThe deal is done!Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be staying in Munich for another year. Bayern Munich have officially announced the extension of the Cameroon international’s contract until 2024.Having been introduced to the starting lineup last October, Choupo has hit the ground running and racked up 15 goals in 24 games, which makes him the team’s joint top scorer along with Jamal Musiala. Thus far, he has filled in the gaping Robert Lewandowski-shaped hole in the No. 9 position very well, which led to the club pushing for a contract extension. Now, after weeks of speculation, Choupo has put pen to paper.‍ Keeping the going #MiaSanMia #FCBayern #ChoupoMoting pic.twitter.com/QXPQtKSJ8A— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) March 3, 2023“We’ve very pleased that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be staying with us for another year," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić. "Choupo is an artist on the ball and has performed really well in recent years. He helped us in the first half of this season to fill the gap we had at centre-forward. He’s done really well and backed up his performances in games this year. We’re glad to have him and be able to work with him until summer 2024.”Choupo himself is also satisfied with the new deal. “I‘m super happy to be staying longer and continuing to have lots of fun with the club. I feel very much at home here. My family also feel at home in Munich. That’s a very important point for me,” he said. “I’m obviously pleased I can help the team so much. I get on really well with the guys, we work hard on our goals. The competition is big, but when you want to be among the best, that’s part of it. It’s the only way you can win lots of titles. And we’ve still got big plans. The whole package is right at FC Bayern. There’s no reason to change anything.”Here’s to many more goals and titles with Choupo!
