It seems increasingly like a question of time before the club signs him to a long-term contract. One major factor in that decision is Flick’s involvement in building his squad.According to Sport Bild, Flick wants to have more say in squad planning if he signs a long-term contract with Bayern. Joshua Zirkzee move could be dependent on Bayern Munich’s willingness to pay wages
FC Bayern Munich v FC Sevilla: UEFA Super Cup 2020 Photo by Tullio Puglia - UEFA/UEFA via Getty ImagesWill Joshua Zirkzee be heading back to the Netherlands on a loan move? One of the last remaining chips to fall in this transfer season is whether or not Bayern Munich will be able to loan out Joshua Zirkzee.Zirkzee, whose role as back-up to Robert Lewandowski has seemingly been usurped by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, was rumored to be heading to Feyenoord, but things might have cooled per reports out of the Netherlands. While Feyenoord is not completely out of the mix by any means, the hold-up is allegedly related to Bayern Munich’s willingness to absorb more of Zirkzee’s wages.Per a report from Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur (captured from the Dick Voormekaar Podcast of Voetbal International), Feyenoord sporting director Frank Arnesen declared that his club “will do nothing more during this transfer period.” Is that hardline negotiating stance or legitimate? We should soon find out as the Dutch transfer window closes today. That news was described as “a hard blow” for trainer Dick Advocaat, who “hoped the Rotterdammers would make an attempt to bring Zirkzee to the Stadium Club.”A hard blow for Dick, indeed. Report: Bayern Munich still open to Joshua Zirkzee loan
FBL-EUR-C1-SALZBURG-BAYERN MUNICH Photo by BARBARA GINDL/APA/AFP via Getty ImagesBayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee could still leave the squad on a loan assignment.Bayern Munich prospect Joshua Zirkzee missed out on an opportunity to leave on a loan assignment over the summer, but a report from Bild indicated that the Bavarians are still open to such an arrangement.FC Köln was one of the clubs very interested in Zirkzee at the time and the Billy Goats remain keen to bring in the 19-year-old Netherlands youth international. The Bild report states that a deal with FC Köln could potentially solve the respective problems for all parties:For Zirkzee, the player would be able to get regular, first-team minutes in the Bundesliga. For Bayern Munich, the club would get a chance to further evaluate Zirkzee’s progress against top-flight competition. For FC Köln, the club would get an offensive threat. FC Bayern Muenchen - Press Conference And Training SessionPhoto by Handout/FC Bayern via Getty ImagesThe Dutch youngster did not travel with the first-team to Borussia Mönchengladbach and instead stayed home to train with Bayern Munich II.Tz reporter Manuel Bonke has tweeted out that Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee did not travel with the senior-team to Borussia Mönchengladbach for today’s game. The Dutch youngster has been the subject of numerous transfer rumors as Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Köln, and Feyenoord among others have been linked to the 19-year-old.Zirkzee, who has been a part of Bayern Munich’s game day squad more often than not this season, stayed back in Munich to train with Bayern Munich II ahead of its derby tomorrow against TSV 1860 Munich:Keine Überraschung: Joshua #Zirkzee ist nicht mit dem #FCBayern nach Gladbach gereist. Stattdessen absolvierte der Youngster heute das Abschlusstraining mit der U23 - und wird im Derby gegen den #TSV1860 wohl an der Seite von Fiete Arp stürmen. #BMGFCB— Manuel Bonke (@mano_bonke) January 8, 2021No surprise: Joshua #Zirkzee did not travel with #FCBayern to Gladbach. Instead, the youngster completed the final training session with the U23 today - and will probably play striker alongside Fiete Arp in the derby against #TSV1860. #BMGFCBThe luster clearly seems to have been taken off of Zirkzee’s status on Säbener Straße.Regardless, Zirkzee’s expected position next to Arp atop the Bayern Munich II formation should at least provide fans with something to keep an eye on tomorrow. It could be one of Zirkzee’s last appearances for the club for the foreseeable future.

FC Bayern München v 1. FC Köln - Pre-Season FriendlyPhoto by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty ImagesNagelsmann wanted to see players like Zirkzee, Cuisance, and Chris Richards in a match before he and the front office make any decisions regarding loan moves.Bayern Munich’s first preseason match against 1. FC Köln included many players from the second team and from the academy. While Julian Nagelsmann had a lot to look at in his first match in charge of Bayern, he reportedly had a plan to get a look at certain players, before deciding on their futures. Es soll die beste Entscheidung für deren Entwicklung getroffen werden.— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) July 17, 2021It was Nagelsmann’s desire in the preparations to personally see players like #Zirkzee, #Cuisance, and C. #Richards. Only then will he and the bosses decide how to go forward with these talents. The best decision should be made for their development. The three mentioned players — along with Taylor Booth — have all come back from loan stints this summer and Bayern’s coaching staff and front office trying to come up with the best solution for them. Zirkzee, Richards, and Booth all started and played the first half, while Cuisance came on at halftime and played the rest of the match. Zirkzee scored Bayern’s second goal, which was assisted by Booth. Both players were quite active in the attack — both on and off the ball. Richards didn’t have his best showing. While nothing was terribly wrong, it just seemed like he and Dayot Upamecano couldn’t get on the same page. Cuisance also wasn’t super impressive, but did manage to put in some decent service into the box in the second half as Bayern was searching for a late equalizer. With most of the first team missing today, the players available had a key chance to make Nagelsmann’s decisions tougher when he and the front office make decisions about who stays in Munich, who goes on loan, and who plays with Bayern II. Although we may want to see some of the young talent stay with Bayern, we must remember that their development and the future is what is the most important thing — except with Cuisance, who knows what we are going to do with him?!

FC Bayern Muenchen v Borussia Moenchengladbach - Pre-Season Match BundesligaPhoto by Robin Marchant/Getty ImagesRumors began circulating late in the week that Anderlecht were interested in the Dutch forward, and it appears that things are set to move forward.Word began trickling out this week that Anderlecht were interested in bringing Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee to Belgium, and it’s now looking like the move is going to happen barring a late issue. Zirkzee’s absence during Bayern’s friendly against Napoli seemingly confirms that this deal is happening. Now, we have word from Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg that the loan is close to being done. He says that it’s likely that Zirkzee’s destination will be announced “after this weekend” at the latest.❗️News #Zirkzee: His loan move to @rscanderlecht is close to be done. That is why he is not in the squad today. There are a lot of options for him but the Belgians have got „the best cards“. Announcement of his new club after this weekend at the latest. @SPORT1 #FCBayern— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) July 31, 2021Belgium is a nice landing spot for Zirkzee to get his feet under him in a top fight setting. Anderlecht are one of the giants of Belgian football; however, their struggles last season had them fall down to qualify only for the new UEFA Europa Conference League. They enter in the Third Qualifying Round and will play Albanian club Laçi.Rumors persist that there will be purchase option on the loan, but we’ll have to wait and see if more information becomes available soon.

FC Bayern Munich v SSC Napoli - Pre-Season MatchPhoto by Leonhard Simon/Getty ImagesJulian Nagelsmann is finally getting to see what he has to work with.Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is started to get a feel for what he really has on his roster. At today’s training, Niklas Süle returned from his back injury, while Joshua Kimmich, Manuel Neuer, and Thomas Müller made their first official appearances. Aside of injured stars Lucas Hernandez and Alphonso Davies, the only other players who missed the session were Kingsley Coman (bruised rib), Corentin Tolisso (COVID-19), and Joshua Zirkzee:Die letzten drei Nationalspieler sind zurück im @FCBayern-Training: @Manuel_Neuer @esmuellert_ und @JoshuaKimmich! Also there again after a back blockage: Niklas #Süle. Kingsley #Coman (Bruised rib) and Joshua #Zirkzee are not included! #FCBZirkzee, of course, is likely being held out because he appears close to a move to Anderlecht, while Coman picked up his knock early in the friendly against Napoli.Süle, meanwhile, looks to be moving past the scare he gave everyone last week when he left a training session early with back pain.Kimmich, Neuer, and Müller also made their first formal appearances after taking their respective medical exams yesterday. Müller got in some individual work last week before sitting out with some lingering soreness. In other news, Leon Goretzka suffered a minor knock during a collision with Benjamin Pavard, but appeared to shake it off and finish his session:Leon Goretzka took a knock to his knee following an aerial duel with Pavard in today's training. KAA Gent v RSC Anderlecht - Croky Cup FinalPhoto by Jeroen Meuwsen/BSR Agency/Getty ImagesWhat does the future hold for Joshua Zirkzee?Bayern Munich loanee Joshua Zirkzee has had a successful campaign with Anderlecht as he has compiled 17 goals and 10 assists in 42 games across all competitions. The talented 20-year-old, however, might not necessarily be keen on re-joining Bayern Munich to show the brass what improvements he has made in his game. In fact, Zirkzee has reportedly already made up his mind that he would prefer not to return to Bayern Munich if Robert Lewandowski extends his deal in Bavaria.According to Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, Zirkzee does not want to take a back seat to Lewandowski again especially when he is drawing interest from several other clubs:Update #Zirkzee: Still no decision about his future. It is said around the player the he won’t play for #FCBayern as long as Lewandowski is under contract. Bayern has to take a decision. JZ leaves Anderlecht after that season. Much interest from many clubs. @SkySportNews— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) April 25, 2022In many ways, this would be the perfect time for Bayern Munich to sell Zirkzee. Should Lewandowski end up leaving Bayern Munich somehow this summer, Zirkzee is not necessarily ready to step in and fill the void. Moreover, Bayern Munich seems set with back-up options to Lewandowski if the Poland international remains with the club. The biggest key is that Zirkzee has done a good job of improving his value and making himself extremely marketable. With the Bavarians in need of revenue, selling Zirkzee could be the best move.

(Football London)We know the likelihood of swap deals in modern football is not really all that high, but according a report out of England, Bayern Munich and Chelsea FC could be eyeing a player trade after this season. The subjects of the alleged deal: Leroy Sané and Kai Havertz:Chelsea’s full concentration is rightly on this summer’s transfer window but could Todd Boehly already be having ideas of his first big deal in the 2023 version?A few stars, not only in the attack, have a lot to prove in 2022/23 if they are to be part of Chelsea in the long-term. One man who has this pressure on his back is Kai Havertz. Despite having purple patches at times in the last two seasons, with the Champions League winning goal in mind, there hasn’t been enough consistency in the Chelsea number 29’s game to merit a permanent answer to the attacking woes of Tuchel’s side.If not enough consistency is shown from the £70million recruit, then Boehly could look into cashing in the 23-year-old before his value plummets suddenly. One interested side already is Bayern Munich, a club that lost out to the west Londoners when Havertz was at Bayer Leverkusen. This time around though, the Bavarians have eyed the German international as a potential long-term Robert Lewandowski heir. SPORT 1 correspondent Kerry Hau has reported that the Bundesliga giants, led by director Hasan Salihamidžić, enquired to the agents of Havertz at the beginning of the summer and could make an official move in 2023. We already know Boehly’s preferences for player plus cash swap deals as shown with the Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill transactions. Is there any player Chelsea could demand from Julian Nagelsmann’s side? The names of Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala ring to mind but one viable option is former Man City winger Leroy Sane who has been linked to Arsenal and Man United so far this summer. With no move looking likely to materialize for the 26-year-old, the Blues could try their luck in 2023 if Havertz wasn’t to make a real statement that he could be the long-term answer to the current World Champions’ goalscoring woes but consistency is the key.It seems like a long shot for sure and whole lot could happen between now and the 2023 summer transfer window, but it is something to keep an eye on, I guess.Stuttgart, Gladbach to battle over Zirkzee? We will have to wait and Zee.According to Florian Plettenberg, VfB Stuttgart and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in intense negotiations for the transfer of striker Saša Kalajdžić. Once a Bayern Munich target, it looks like Kalajdžić might be on his way to Wolverhampton instead of Bavaria. Earlier this month, the player was also on Manchester United’s list of possible targets. There has been a verbal agreement between the player and Wolves and the club wishes to get the transfer done in the next few days. The Austrian is keen on a move to the Premier League. However the two clubs are still not in agreement in terms of valuation. Wolves have indicated they are prepared to pay around €18 million but VfB Stuttgart have quoted an asking price of €25 million.❗️Excl. Initially exploding to the scene at the age of 19 with some impressive substitute appearances for the Bayern Munich first team (ah yes, gone are the days when we used to be aboard the Zee hype train after he scored late game winners against Freiburg and Wolfsburg), his steep rise stunted shortly, stagnating over the course of the next season, making just a couple of appearances. He was then loaned to Serie A side Parma, which turned out to be an unfruitful spell, with him just registering four appearances due to being sidelined for the majority of the season with an LCL injury. In summer 2021, he made another loan move, this time to Anderlecht, which proved to be a much better move. He registered a whopping 18 goals and 13 assists (31 goal contributions!!!) across all competitions for the Eredivisie side, garnering interest from clubs such as VfB Stuttgart, Bologna, Club Brugge, and of course, Anderlecht, who wish to retain him.Bayern seems to be ready to move on from the player, at least for the time being, and is looking to offload him before the transfer window closes. Among the clubs vying for his signature, FC Bologna seems to be the frontrunner, according to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk:TRUE✅ FC Bologna are the favorite for a transfer of Joshua Zirkzee @FCBayern ahead of Anderlecht, Brügge and Stuttgart @SPORTBILD— Christian Falk (@cfbayern) August 24, 2022The player is reportedly a hotly contested commodity, with the race between the four clubs expected to result in a transfer fee war. Bologna and VfB Stuttgart seem to have a financial advantage over their competitors, with Florian Plettenberg also proclaiming Bologna to be ahead of the pack at the moment. Plettenberg also reports that the transfer fee would be around 8 to 9 million euros plus bonuses. Bologna & VfB can pay the most. VfB has to wait because of Kalajdzic, meanwhile Bologna in front now. Details now: €8-9m + bonus + sell-on clause, matching right etc. Similar to Nianzou. @SkySportDE— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) August 24, 2022The “matching right” included means that Bayern should also be able to procure the player back if needed. The club would simply have to match the fee offered by another interested club.Despite the reported fee being quite disappointing and quite low for the player, the sell-on clause gives reason for respite. However, if the move materializes, this would be another case of Bayern selling a talent for peanuts. Yes, the club is in a tough negotiating position right now, with Zirkzee’s performances (or lack thereof) not warranting much in terms of a transfer fee. However, if the player does experience a resurgence at his future club, Bayern could stand to rake in a nice chunk of change. Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - BundesligaPhoto by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Corbis via Getty ImagesA return to Italy is on the cards for the young Dutchman.Update (August 25, 5:45pm ET)Per Bild, Bayern Munich have secured a buy-back clause on Joshua Zirkzee in the range of €20-25m. That’s in addition to a sell-on clause and the right to match bids, as detailed below.According to reports (heard through Kerry Hau of Sport1), Bologna F.C. 1909 have won the race for Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee’s signature. We previously reported that Bologna were ahead of Anderlecht, Stuttgart, and Brügge in vying for the young striker’s signing, and now it seems that they’ve managed to seal the deal. Zirkzee may feel he has unfinished business in Italy, following a relatively unsuccessful loan spell with Parma last year.Nicht Stuttgart, nicht Anderlecht: Joshua #Zirkzee hat einem Transfer nach Bologna zugestimmt. Die Ablöse liegt bei 8,5 Mio. Euro – Weiterverkaufsklausel (50 %) und Matching Right inklusive. Die Vereine handeln nun die finalen Details aus. Sky berichtete zuerst. #FCBayern @SPORT1— Kerry Hau (@kerry_hau) August 25, 2022Not Stuttgart, not Anderlecht: Joshua #Zirkzee has agreed to a transfer to Bologna. The transfer fee is EUR 8.5 million – resale clause (50 %) and matching right included. The clubs are now negotiating the final details. Sky reported first. All said, Zirkzee will move to Bologna for a fee of around €8.5 million. Similar to the Nianzou deal, it’s said that Bayern will also maintain first matching rights as well as a sell-on fee of up to 50%. That may seem like a slightly low fee, given the player’s valuation of €11m (per Transfermarkt), but it may well be that the club was willing to take less money up front to maintain provisions for matching rights and a sell-on percentage.Bologna are now closing on Joshua Zirzkee deal. Permanent move as releaved earlier today, fee around €8m plus sell-on clause for Bayern. #FCBayern
Zirkzee has agreed personal terms with Bologna today - he will be back in Serie A soon. https://t.co/QV7p6fDKx6— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 25, 2022The departures of Robert Lewandowski (€45m), Tanguy Nianzou (€16m), Marc Roca (€12m), Chris Richards (€12m), Omar Richards (€8.5m), Lars Lukas Mai (€1.6m), Christian Fruchtl (€500k), and Ron-Thorben Hoffmann (€300k) currently have the club sitting at a combined ~€96m in sales for the summer transfer window. Assuming the deal for Zirkzee does go through at €8.5m, it will push Bayern Munich over €100m in sales in a single transfer window for the first time in club history.
