Manchester City star Kyle Walker was rumored to be close to a deal with Bayern Munich, but it appears that the 33-year-old might end up inking a contract extension with Pep Guardiola’s club after all. After days of “it’s getting close”-type rumors, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Walker and Manchester City could be working on a contract extension:EXCL: Man City and Kyle Walker are in talks over contract extension. Sources believe this is still a possibility despite interest from Bayern. #MCFCBayern want Walker but City are still in talks to discuss Kyle’s stay.Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, however, has a report with Bayern Munich angling to get a deal done as soon as possible:More on Kyle #Walker: FC Bayern wants to finalize the deal soon as he wants to join Tuchel as revealed. Bayern is working on a total verbal agreement now. ➡️ First talks and ideas about a possible package of €20-30m transfer fee - all in!➡️ Negotiations ongoing. #MCFC Two journalists, two differing view points…where does the truth reside? That remains to be seen, but if Walker is yanking Bayern Munich by its chain just to get more money out of Manchester City, it would feel eerily similar to how things played out with West Ham’s Declan Rice — with the English midfielder dangling the carrot to Bayern Munich, only to have no real desire to leave the island. Rice is expected to sign with Arsenal FC in the coming days.

Manchester City v Chelsea FC - Premier League Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images Things have been silent on the Kyle Walker front for Bayern Munich...until now. There has been a period of silence regarding Bayern Munich’s rumored pursuit of Manchester City defender Kyle Walker. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, part of the reason for that is because Pep Guardiola’s club is pushing to sign Walker to an extension: Manchester City are insisting to extend Kyle Walker’s contract as negotiations over new deal continue. #MCFCBayern are still pushing and tempting Walker, waiting for final decision in the next days. #FCBayernSources feel next week could be crucial. As of now the Bayern Munich backline is in chaos. Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard are leaving, Noussair Mazraoui’s agent recently shopped him to Juventus, and Alphonso Davies and his agent are playing reindeer games with the club brass. A rumored move for César Azpilicueta is off as he signed with Atlético de Madrid, but Napoli’s Kim Min-jae could ink his deal with Bayern Munich any day now. Bayern Munich did sign Raphael Guerreiro on a free transfer, but more help could be needed if players like Mazraoui and Davies push to leave this summer (at this point, it is impossible to rule anything out). City are still hoping the player would rethink his decision. Pep Guardiola considers Walker’s qualities to be irreplaceable, and is fighting to keep him, though the player wants to join Bayern.Bayern remain patient. Jan-Christian Dreesen and Marco Neppe, who did not travel to Japan, want to and will intensify their efforts to sign both Kane and Walker in the near future. Kane has the priority for now, with a meeting with Daniel Levy scheduled for this week.Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg offered up his own news as well:Benjamin #Pavard, he still wants to leave FC Bayern this summer as he has no intention to extend his contract beyond 2024. ➡️ It’s still a race between ManCity, ManUtd and Juventus at this stage➡️ Swap deal with Kyle Walker has been no hot topic in the last days. #MCFCBayern bosses are waiting for a concrete offer. @SkySportDETwitter account @iMiaSanMia also captured more from Plettenberg: Talks between Bayern and City for Kyle Walker are ongoing, but are not in the final stages yet. There’s no concrete offer on the table as of now. However, Pep Guardiola and sporting director Txiki Begiristain are informed of Walker’s plans. The main reason talks are not advancing is that Dreesen and Neppe didn’t travel to Japan and stayed in Munich to meet Levy in London this week. Herbert Hainer is in Tokyo, but is not responsible for negotiations with City. While there is an agreement in place between Bayern Munich and Walker, it remains to be seen if the Englishman will actually pull the trigger on leaving Guardiola, who has shown no willingness to see Walker skip town. Price on Tchouameni is set (El Nacional via 90Min.com)Just a few weeks ago, Bayern Munich was linked to Real Madrid defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The problem?
