Hint: It was the Bavarians.Die Folgen: Bayern’s 3-2 DFL-Supercup win over Borussia Dortmund (Bavarian Football Works)Well...that was interesting. After looking dominant early, Bayern Munich let Borussia Dortmund back in the game before Captain Clutch, err, Joshua Kimmich scored one of the craziest goals you could ever see. For a glorified exhibition, both teams brought some fire and quality to the match. Anyway, here are some quick-hitters on the contest:Kimmich is just amazing.Good for Corentin Tolisso to get on the scoresheet. He genuinely seems like a great, hard-working guy that is easy to root for and here is to hoping he can keep his trend going in an upward trajectory. Bayern Munich will no doubt need him to step-up to a challenge again this season. The deepest area of the Bayern Munich squad — the back-line — is also the one that is struggling the most at this stage of the season. That, however, is to be expected as Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, Benjamin Pavard, Alphonso Davies, and Niklas Süle are all playing big roles. It is going to take time to develop cohesion, trust, and consistency, but it will get better.Speaking of Hernandez, he seems WAY more impactful so far this season. It’s become a broken record of sorts, but Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski are just a monster 1-2 punch for Hansi Flick. It is hard to think of Hansi Flick employing any line-up without them.Erling Håland is a beast...and despite my affinity for the #TimoTime and #ArpTrain movements, I really can’t think of a better eventual successor to Lewandowski than Håland. When Marco Reus gets fully right and Lucien Favre actually commits to playing Julian Brandt, Dortmund is going to be trouble. So there it is...another trophy for Flick. (Background music of “The Man” by The Killers should start playing any time that guys steps to the podium). In the event you need the highlights from the game (DO NOT MISS Kimmich’s goal), here you go:In case you missed it...
