Powered by some Bayern Munich players, Die Mannschaft throttled the visitors 7-1:Let’s get this out of the way...Kai Havertz was a BEAST. If his intention was to show he should be part of the starting XI...well, he did just that. Havertz was creative, fast, and relentless. I’m not getting caught up in one game, but if you ask me today, I’m at least starting with Havertz over Sane against France. How great was it to see Thomas Müller get back on the scoresheet for Germany? Müller was good once again.Mats Hummels did not look like his patella injury was bothering him. He look fluid and showed great anticipation. His pass on Serge Gnabry’s goal was ridiculously good.Robin Gosens finally displayed what Joachim Low has apparently seen for quite a while now. He was speedy and threatening down the left side and was able to contribute at both ends of the field. In case you turned off the game at halftime, it became #TimoTime once again as Timo Werner scored off of a nice feed from Joshua Kimmich. It also appears that Kimmich is growing a Fu Manchu...is he throwing off major Johnny Cakes vibes? We are learning a little bit more about Julian Nagelsmann and the young players on campus through week. Here are some quick hitters on what we saw in the match:Bayern Munich was scrambling defensively for most of the first half. Bouna Sarr, Dayot Upamecano, Tanguy Nianzou, and Josip Stanisic left holes in front of Sven Ulreich at times. Overall, though they were pretty solid and did not make any egregious mistakes. Even with giving up two goals, the defenders earned passing marks.Ulreich, of course, started the mess that led to the first goal with a bad pass. He did, however, make some excellent saves down the stretch to preserve the draw.Omar Richards starting further up the pitch was interesting and probably a bit of a trial to see if he was a possibility if he could be considered to help fill the fourth winger role. Richards should have buried one first half opportunity and didn’t get enough power on another that should have also been a goal. It seems like he has some good skills and talent to work with, but his finishing is very unrefined.Bayern Munich had trouble connecting offensively early, but got more comfortable working together as the game went on.None of the issues we saw from Bayern Munich were surprising or unexpected when mixing so many new and/or young players into the mix.It was a great setup by \Sarr on Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s goal. Michael Cuisance kept the play alive with a lunging play on the ball to find Sarr. For Sarr and Cuisance, that play seemed to boost both players into better efforts from that point forward.Torben Rhein does not look out of place playing at this level. His assist on Nianzou’s fantastic header goal was superb. This kid can play.Nianzou’s header was spectacular by the way.Armindo Sieb had some good moments, but was not as impactful in this match as he was last week...but that is okay. Sieb still showed a lot of skill and hunger and — along with Rhein — has been extremely impressive.Joshua Zirkzee’s miss right before halftime was really inexcusable. He had no reason to be that cocky even in a “one v none.” Ajax defender Perr Schuurs simply made the play with sheer will and by taking advantage of Zirkzee’s foolhardy decsion-making. The shame of that play is that Zirkzee was doing pretty well before that point and was decent overall. Like our own Phillip Quinn wrote, however, that one play was all anyone will remember about Zirkzee’s performance in that game.Cuisance was very good on the day and very active. He did have a couple of plays that I’m sure he’d like back, but that was progress for the midfielder.I loved the fearlessness of Bayern Munich second unit. They were fun, tried things, and were aggressive moving forward. It wasn’t always easy for them, but they made great use of their collective opportunity. If you missed our Initial Analysis, Match…

Liechtenstein v Germany - 2022 FIFA World Cup QualifierPhoto by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty ImagesNot a bad way to start the Hansi Flick Era, eh?Germany kicked off the first game of former Bayern Munich manger Hansi Flick’s tenure with a 2-0 over Liechtenstein. Many people were eager to see what Flick’s version of Die Mannschaft would look like and those eager to see the post-Joachim Löw era start.Germany was thoroughly dominant in possessing the ball and looked to be constantly seeking ways to break through Liechtenstein. Here are our talking points from the game:A look at Flick’s starting lineup and how it melded over the course of the game.Jamal Musiala’s excellence continues. It was #TimoTime for the Germany offense. An appreciation of Niklas Süle.Overall, it was a good start for Germany under Flick and while Liechtenstein is not exactly a world power, the feeling of positivity during and after the match was a breath of fresh air.Find any of the contributors on Twitter @BavarianFBWorks, @jeffersonfenner, @TheBarrelBlog, @TommyAdams71, and @bfwinnn.For the latest and greatest in football news, Bayern news, Germany news, and transfer rumors, be sure to visit https://ift.tt/QxgkaH!

North Macedonia v Germany - 2022 FIFA World Cup QualifierPhoto by Alex Grimm/Getty ImagesIt was #TimoTime against North Macedonia. If there was any German player who needed to breakout, it was Timo Werner. The Chelsea FC forward — and rumored Bayern Munich transfer target — has heard the negativity and is trying his best to tune it out as he seeks to prove his mettle under Hansi Flick.“It has to roll off. If I’d spent two days thinking too much, I wouldn’t have been able to play here. Because at some point the barrel is full. That’s why I have to let it roll off. I’m happy that I was able to help the team today,” Werner said (as captured by Tz).And help the team he did.Werner scored a fantastic brace, which which included a highlight reel goal that was assisted by Thomas Müller and then added another spectacular shot with a mid-range curler. This assist from Müller pic.twitter.com/Z9FPQWziIQ— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) October 11, 2021It was the kind of effort that Flick has been hoping for from Werner. For his part, the Chelsea man likes having the opportunity to play under Flick.“I’ve often said that when a coach likes you and backs you, that helps every player. He gives me 100 percent confidence from the outside and I hope I can give that back,” Werner said. “These are teams against whom it is always difficult at the beginning. It was good that we didn’t concede a goal. There were some tricky situations. When we took the lead, it was much easier for us.”Werner now has five goals and one assist in five games under Flick.

Here are some quick hitters on the match:Germany was careless early on. North Macedonia was eager to battle and it looked like it took the Germans a bit to shake off the cob webs.North Macedonia was very aggressive to the ball and often did not give Germany time to breath. Both teams, in fact were sloppy and played in a bit of a flustered state early in the match.Kai Havertz has several instances where he was able to flash his footwork. Is it me or did the ref look like the discount rack version of Marc-André ter Stegen? This was the first time the squad appeared a little flat under Hansi Flick. At times, it appears that Niklas Süle’s versatility allowed the Bayern Munich defender and Lukas Klostermann to interchange on the backline.Overall, the defense had a couple of lapses, but was good.If Havertz had stayed wider he’d have been part of a highlight reel goal in the 30th minute when Süle went charging hard up the pitch and eventually lifted over a cross. Havertz, though, was too narrow. It’s a shame that a two-on-one break was foiled by a ball with a little too much bounce. Serge Gnabry and Timo Werner would have had a chance to do something, but a poor touch (combined with a sloppy pitch) made the ball to handle for Gnabry, who lost his footing a few times on the slick turf.I know there was a lot of rain, but man, that field was really a mess.Germany’s decision-making in the final third was not great. They had chances, but often sent inaccurate passes or just made the wrong decision all too often.Four minutes into the second half, Thomas Müller led a three-on-two break and slid a perfect pass to Havertz, who finally gave Germany the lead. You could tell that a humungous weight had been lifted off of Germany’s shoulders.Flick used Karim Adeyemi as wing, so for those hoping to see him on the offensive flank in Munich, that was your preview. Adeyemi asserted himself nicely.David Raum is not yet ready for a starting role, but it was good to get an extended view of his game. I felt like he rushed too may decisions and just played a bit nervy (as should be expected for a young player).Without sounding too negative, Germany’s entire unit of forwards and midfielders was lackluster for most of the match...until the switch flipped on for #TimoTime.Werner put an exclamation point on what was a pretty blah game, with a great half-volley strike for Germany’s second goal. It was a simply brilliant flick-on by Müller as well.Joshua Kimmich needs a rest. He looked like he was carrying a piano on his back and made some very uncharacteristic mistakes. As you can tell, the Raumdeuter, picked up assists on the first two goals.Werner’s second goal was equally as masterful. Just inside the left corner of the box, Werner tucked his shot in the the far post. Florian Wirtz had the assist.Jamal Musiala put the icing on the cake with his late tally. Adeyemi had the assist.Me before the game hearing all of the Timo Werner slander:MediaMe after the game when all the blokes were…

Speaking on the London is Blue podcast, Law revealed that he had been handed an insight the future of Bayern Munich’s star striker.Lewandowski still has two years left on his contract, but there remains uncertainty in the Bavarian camp that he will extend his deal again. “I keep being told by good contacts that it’s likely Lewandowski will look for something new this summer,” said Law.The post indicated that Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool could be interested in Lewandowski.Meanwhile, Law also brought back the rumors that FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund could have interest in Werner:There have a fair few rumours swirling around about Timo Werner’s status within Thomas Tuchel’s squad. Barcelona are said to be intrigued by the German international, who continues to paint a rather unpretty picture in Chelsea blue.Borussia Dortmund also reportedly want to sign the 25-year-old speed merchant. Out of the two options, surely the latter would be more appealing. A return to the Bundesliga, the division he become a household name in and thus the reason Chelsea bought him off RB Leipzig; what’s not to like? If not Dortmund, perhaps Bayern?Permitted Lewandoski does leave the Allianz at the end of the season, the German champions will need someone else to spearhead their attack. Werner would be a likeable option, especially considering he played under Julian Nagelsmann at Leipzig. “Nagelsmann knows Timo Werner really well, loves Timo Werner,” continued Law.Given that Bayern Munich is essentially playing a 3-4-2-1, it would not be a shock to see Nagelsmann push for the club to get Werner — even if Lewandowski stays (which, honestly, I’d fully expect him to).The Lewandowski news does not seem likely — unless he has had a sudden change of heart.Newcastle eyeing Sanches (The Shields Gazette)Former Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches recently stated that he is now ready to play for a big club.Hearing that, suddenly rich Newcastle United might be ready to give him an opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League:In other news, Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign Renato Sanches.A deal in January being something the club is pushing for, with a possible £35m feel potentially on the cards. The French international is valued at around €80 million by AS Monaco.Bayern Munich could rival Real Madrid in pursuit of several up and coming players in the summer, with Ryan Gravenberch another key midfield target for both clubs. Tchouameni could replace compatriot Corentin Tolisso at the Allianz Arena, with the French international entering the final six months of his Bayern contract.Apart from Tchouameni and Gravenberch, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also likely to compete for Florian Wirtz, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham. However, it’s doubtful that Dortmund would be able and willing to pay the money required to bring Werner to Signal Iduna Park, should he be interested in a move back to the Bundesliga. Two years ago, Chelsea put €53 million on the table to sign Werner from RB Leipzig on a contract until 2025 worth €16 million per season in wages.Given Julian Nagelsmann’s connection to Werner, it would not be totally shocking to see Bayern Munich linked to the former RB Leipzig star again, especially given the manager’s desire to move to a 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-2-1 formation for next season.<a href="https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2022/3/2/22958622/podcast-bayern-munich-bayer-leverkusen-bundesliga-frimpong-wirtz…

Okay.A game day dedicated to Norwegian heritage? Done.An appearance in Alphonso Davies’ next video? Let’s do it.Whatever...it...takes.That, however, did not happen.Losing Lewandowski would be devastating on every level, but not having an adequate replacement could be even more harmful to the future of the club.As much as Bayern Munich’s internal “30+ Rule” on player contracts might help in some cases, there is always an outlier. With Lewandowski — and not having a suitable or capable replacement available — maybe the standard could have been relaxed a bit.It is tough to not sound like I am at least overplaying exactly everything that Lewandowski does a little bit and why he is so important, but his role on the squad is irreplaceable. The only available striker on Earth who could conceivably even come close is Haaland. With the Norwegian almost officially off the table and the Pole looking to leave, the acumen of both sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic and manager Julian Nagelsmann is going to be greatly tested. Can Brazzo find a fit to at least somewhat lessen the damage? Can Nagelsmann scheme his way to making Lewandowski’s departure less painful? All of that remains to be seen, but nothing will come easy — or cheap. For the Bavarians, it is already looking to be quite the cruel summer.Anyway, the next few weeks are sure to be tense for Bayern Munich fans — and maybe even a little painful. Somehow, this feels a little different than Lewandowski’s attempt to leave for Real Madrid in 2018.It feels more real...and maybe even a little more unnecessary.Should we ask what time it is if Lewy does leave? As much as Brazzo might be against it, he might have to finally relent and listen to the “Ghost of Hansi Flick” and days of sextuples past.If Lewandowski does leave — and there is no way to swoop in and get Haaland at the last minute (there is probably not) — what will Bayern Munich do?I say they should make it...#TIMOTIME.LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The (#Timo)time is now Brazzo. Sane definitely played with much more energy in this match than in some previous games, but still did not find a way to break into the scoring column. Sane had a great opportunity in the 39th minute as well but hit it right at Gianluigi Donnarumma. Overall, it was not great for Sane, despite the more lively play. The winger is definitely in a funk.Manuel Neuer made an absolutely beautiful double-save in the 8th minute. Classic Neuer.Germany’s goal in the 10th minute was perfect. Niklas Sule hit Timo Werner with a lofted pass into the box, the Chelsea FC man settled it, laid it off to David Raum, who hit Joshua Kimmich making a late run for a picturesque goal. What a start for the Germans!Jonas Hofmann almost made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Werner sent him a nice pass, but Hofmann didn’t get a good piece of the ball on his shot.Werner had a good chance in the 40th minute, but also found too much of the net as Donnarumma made a leaping save. There was no question on the penalty call on Italy late in the first half. Ilkay Gundogan buried it (though his placement was iffy) and Germany went into halftime up 2-0. Die Mannschaft was thoroughly dominant in the first half.Thomas Müller put his name on the scoresheet in the 51st minute with a very Thomas Müller goal in taking advantage of some sloppy play by Italy in the final third.Werner’s first goal was spectacular. The team play and passing leading to a “lay out” finish from Werner was awesome. Just a minute later, Werner struck again. What a couple of minutes for Werner. It was #TimoTime at that stage of the match. Also, Teddy Son made a bad bet in our virtual office and now has to paint his nails because Werner scored...so we all won.Leon Stach came on and almost got himself on the scoresheet, but missed a very good opportunity.Neuer was a complete beast in the match. What are the best ways forward at forward? We polled the BFW staff (prior to the Mathys Tel announcement) asking for a variety of solutions, whether inside or outside the box.As for the plans for this season, Bayern appear decided to try to make it work with a variety of less traditional nines — Sadio Mané, Serge Gnabry, Mathys Tel. But rumors persist that should this go less than swimmingly, sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić has his eye on the biggest fish of them all — Tottenham’s Harry Kane. For the moment, then, the long-term picture is still very much murky. The Mainz striker is young (22), is a guaranteed starter in the Bundesliga under Bo Svensson, and most importantly, he’s an actual centre-forward.Who has scored a bunch of goals against us.The kid is passionate, he’s good on the ball, and has dramatically improved his game in the past few years — especially in areas like passing, holding onto the ball, and aerial prowess. He is capable of scoring goals in every style and is excellent at finding spaces. At Mainz, Svensson expects endless pressing the moment the players get possession and emphasises careful and quick passing. The ball needs to be moved forward with haste. Having grown up in such a system, Burkardt is a rising German talent who will fit right in at Bayern.Frank MoAfter Mathys Tel signed for Bayern, I think Bayern should keep from signing any more forwards this summer. Because between Sadio Mané and Mathys Tel, Bayern have enough solutions in short and long term in the striker position. In the short term, Mané can take the goal-scoring burden and, as he inevitably declines in a few years, Tel will be able to pick up the slack. The process may not be perfect and we’ll have to see if Mané can operate as a lone center-forward, but it is worth trying it out for at least a season. And if Mané does struggle in that role, that’s fine. Bayern will still be able to add a new center-forward next summer, on the club’s terms and without having to panic late in the window.Soundz58The best answer is CR7. Timo Werner looks on during the UEFA Nations League match between Germany and England on June 14, 2022Photo by Alex Gottschalk/DeFodi Images via Getty ImagesOne Germany legend pleads to a current-generation torchbearer to turn on the fire.Germany international and current — though not for long? — Chelsea FC striker Timo Werner cuts an enigmatic figure. Once the toast of the Bundesliga ball under Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, Werner has endured a perilous few years in England. Former Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Germany player Michael Ballack has some advice, as well as choice words, for Germany’s pacy frontman.“He lacks the necessary ‘elbow mentality’,” Ballack said pointedly in comments captured by Sport1. “Taking the step to Chelsea...was courageous. [But] Timo was already further along than he is at the moment. That’s where we talk about personality and character.”For Ballack, this is as true for club as it is for country, and Werner must — cue Drake memes — “flip the switch.”Ballack noted that Werner was once close to solidifying his role as Germany’s No. 9. But while he still wears the jersey and enjoys a good measure of faith from current coach Hansi Flick, he’s had quite some years to forget in the national setup. Flick’s predecessor Joachim Löw lost faith in Werner by last year and used him sparingly in the 2021 EURO, despite overseeing Werner’s rise through the 2017 Confederations Cup and some forgettable tournament that happened the following year.Okay, okay — the 2018 World Cup. That happened. And perhaps that was the beginning of the end. Werner was unconvincing centrally that tournament and Germany seemed to need to shift him wide left to get any scoring initiative going. Transfer rumors abounded, including to Bayern Munich. By 2020 Werner was at Chelsea, where he invented new ways to miss sitters on a regular basis. The boo-birds were accumulating. He needed to play off a real nine, they ventured. Or he could only score in the Bundesliga.Werner never stopped working hard, or making the darting, dangerous runs, especially down the left channel. He won a Champions League with the Blues in his first season. But he never got things quite on track again, either. And now he finds himself likely on his way out at his club, after watching Romelu Lukaku come and go.“Too well-behaved” is how Ballack describes Werner’s demeanor — that he is someone who has gotten into the habit of “surrender[ing] to his fate.”These are ills that may take more than a change of scenery to address. As rumors swirl of a return to RB Leipzig and the Bundesliga, Ballack — a ferocious mentality warrior through his time with the German men’s national team — urged Werner to undergo a re-eval and reboot.Otherwise, Ballack warned, “He will continue to have a hard time.”Despite the harsh words, Ballack seems a man firmly in Werner’s corner. And if Timo can rebound, it’ll be a lift for Germany’s hopes as well. The Men’s World Cup is once again just around the corner. Let’s hope it’s #TimoTime this time.

(Sport1)Paris Saint-Germain might be plotting a move for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in hopes of having a solution for Bayern Munich’s (sometimes) potent attack:At PSG you see a need for action - especially with regard to the eighteenth round games in the Champions League against FC Bayern! The top French club still has a lot to do on the transfer market in order to be prepared for the games against the German record champions on February 14 (in Paris) and March 8.The focus is on signing central defender Milan Skriniar (27). The Slovakian international’s contract with Inter Milan expires at the end of the season. Skriniar’s agent Roberto Sistici told TeleNord: “We have already informed Inter that Skriniar will not renew his contract as it stands now. We told them that we feel free to talk to other clubs.”To say PSG are interested in Skriniar would be an understatement. A transfer of the defensive player to the French capital had already been in the offing for a long time last summer, but the move then failed. It should work on the second attempt, possibly in the coming days. Should Inter sell the Slovak, they could get a fee of between 15 and 20 million euros. In the summer, Skriniar would be gone on a free transfer.PSG coach Christophe Galtier (56) told BeIN Sports: “I can’t say if Milan Skriniar will join us in January or in the summer... He’s a player we’ve been following for a long time. Tamworth v Tottenham Hotspur - Emirates FA Cup Third Round Photo by Simon Stacpoole/Offside/Offside via Getty Images It’s #TimoTime! Earlier this summer, the rumors linking RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner to the New York Red Bulls in MLS were all the rage. Now, though, there is hope that a Bundesliga side could be ready to take a chance at reviving the career of Werner — Borussia Mönchengladbach.BuLiNews.com captured a report from Bild, which had the most recent details on the situation to date: With Timo Werner no longer considered to be part of RB Leipzig’s plans, there’s now interest from other clubs in the Bundesliga. As Bild reports, Werner is being discussed internally as an option for Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Foals are convinced of his versatility given he can play wide left and up top, and could envision a transfer under two conditions. For one thing, the speedy attacker would have to forgo about two-thirds of his current salary to fit into their salary structure.Secondly, the tabloid suggests Gladbach would be dependent on Leipzig letting Werner leave on a free transfer.RB Leipzig has definitely moved from the Werner Era and really could be open to letting Werner leave for free. The bigger question might be if Werner would be willing to consider a paycut — which he really should be open to accept at this stage of his career if he really wants to put himself in a position to be a contributor on a good team. Would Gladbach be a good landing spot for a player in desperate need of a fresh start?Bayern Munich is getting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz...now what?
