Poland v England: 2022 FIFA World Cup QualifierPhoto by Eddie Keogh - The FA/The FA via Getty ImagesCould Bayern Munich be playing the long game with Harry Kane?According to reports from both Sport Bild and kicker, Bayern Munich could be poised to make a serious run at Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane in 2023.Just a few weeks ago, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla issued a report stating that Bayern Munich had made contact with Harry Kane, but now it appears that could have been just a bit premature per kicker:(Robert) Lewandowski is therefore expected back for now. Nevertheless, the Munich team have to prepare for the 33-year-old’s departure — by the summer of 2023 at the latest. According to kicker information, one name that is conceivable in the forward position when shaping the future is Harry Kane . The 28-year-old has a contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2024.He would fit into Bayern’s position profile. What is wanted is an attacker who has already demonstrated the required top level and does not have to grow into it. However, a transfer this summer is difficult or almost impossible to implement due to the financial aspects. In addition, Bild filed a report (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) which had nearly the same messaging:Bayern have an interest in principle in Harry Kane, but the club is aware that a move this summer, is financially unaffordable. The club could take advantage of Kane’s contract situation next year (contract until 2024) to get him at a reasonable price.Lewandowski has been heavily linked to FC Barcelona, with Chelsea FC and Paris Saint-Germain being considered dark horse candidates to acquire the Poland international. However, the Bavarians have taken a hardline stance about what monetary figure they want for Lewandowski and it is conceivable that the star striker could play out his contract though the end of the season with Bayern Munich. As Fabrizio Romano points out, though, there is no talk on a move for this summer whatsoever — and Tottenham Hotspur is expected to try and ink Kane to a new deal:There’s no discussion, negotiation or talk about Harry Kane. Tottenham always considered him untouchable and there’s nothing concrete going on with Bayern. ⚪️❌ #THFC

FC Bayern Munich - Nagelsmann Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images Could the German boss really find himself in North London? Ex-Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann remains a top candidate for many jobs in the summer, including Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur who have been without a permanent manager since the departure of Antonio Conte in March. However, it seems that the early reports that Nagelsmann is currently unwilling to join Spurs were not fully correct, as Fabrizio Romano reported that Nagelsmann would only consider joining Spurs if he were to be paired with a supportive sporting director rather than an outright rejection. For the unfamiliar, Spurs parted ways with their sporting director recently too after Fabio Paratici was handed a worldwide ban by FIFA for the extremely muddled and complicated sporting-financial situation of Juventus.Nagelsmann is of course not the only man shortlisted for the job, as Sporting Lisbon’s Rúben Amorim, Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou, the currently unemployed Luis Enrique and the Eredivisie’s latest bald genius in Feyenoord miracle-worker Arne Slot.Negotiations between Nagelsmann and Tottenham have not resumed, at this stage. No changes: he'd only consider the job with supportive sporting director. ⚪️ #THFC

England v North Macedonia: Group C - UEFA EURO 2024 Qualifying Round Photo by Joe Prior/Visionhaus via Getty Images How serious is Bayern Munich getting about another run at Harry Kane? According to football journalist Rudy Galetti, Bayern Munich is “set to start talks” with Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.Say what?In recent days, rumors began to re-emerge that Bayern Munich wanted to take another run at the English star after things seemingly fell apart during the first attempt by the Bavarians in the late spring: As revealed in Jan, #Kane remains the main target of Bayern Munich for the attack.

‼️ The striker likes the destination and, after some contacts with the club, it seems that there'll be no issues to agree personal terms.

️ #Bayern are now set to start talks with #THFC. https://t.co/Kp49WWqa6W pic.twitter.com/TmmRpuYnUN— Rudy Galetti (@RudyGaletti) June 23, 2023ESPN added some context to the report, as well: Bayern are believed to be in the market for a high-profile forward this summer after seeing Robert Lewandowski join Barcelona last season. Alongside Kane, the Bundesliga outfit have been linked to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, showcasing Bayern’s desire to bring an established forward to the club.Manchester United were previously linked with a move for Kane, however, the Red Devils interest has cooled due to the £100 million fee Spurs would want for his transfer. Whilst Bayern may struggle to meet that £100m valuation, Spurs could be more forgiving to a club outside of England.Could this really...happen?BFW AnalysisAdmittedly, I have been doubting a move like this could happen for months, so it did seem a little odd to see rumors start to pop back up this week. Kane is — absolutely — coveted by Bayern Munich, but there are major doubts about his willingness to leave England. Much like the ill-fated pursuit of West Ham’s Declan Rice, Bayern Munich appears to be fooling itself into thinking that an “in his prime” English will make the jump to Germany. But...is it really all that foolish?Maybe, maybe not, but the Bavarians are going to explore all options and not leave any stone unturned in trying to add a world class striker. Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski are not available and while it still might be an utter longshot to convince Kane to leave England, Bayern Munich is willing to take the old “puncher’s chance” pursuit of the high-scoring 29-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace - Premier League Photo by Craig Mercer/MB Media/Getty Images This is according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, so it’s as official as it gets. Forget Osimhen, forget Kolo Muani. Bayern Munich are aiming for the sky, and that’s gonna come with a sky high price tag. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Bayern Munich have submitted an official bid of €70m + add-ons for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. The Bundesliga champions, per recent reports, see him as their number one striker target for this summer. EXCLUSIVE: Bayern Munich have today submitted an official proposal to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. #FCBayern written offer to #THFC for 29yo striker worth €70m + add-ons. England captain has 1yr left of existing Spurs contract @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/2EDdre3uiG— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) June 27, 2023Given that this is David Ornstein we’re talking about, this report can basically be taken as official fact. His sources in England, especially among London clubs, are rock solid. Therefore, the Bayern bosses must think Kane is willing to come to the Bundesliga if they’ve made a bid like this. It’s almost certainly going to fall short of Daniel Levy’s desired price, but that’s what negotiations are for. What this means is that Bayern are finally moving on the striker issue. After weeks of nothing but rumor, we have our first news of the club making a concrete move — and what a move it is! Enticing Harry Kane, the English captain and a top EPL striker, to the Bundesliga will take no mean feat. The club is not messing around this summer. However, if the bidding for Kane has started, then you can be sure that other clubs across Europe will take notice. Real Madrid, Manchester United, and all the rest have been put on alert. Now, can the Bavarians pull this off? Is this actually gonna happen, for real? Or, like Declan Rice, will this end up being another wild goose chase? We’ll have to wait and find out. Exciting times. UpdateSpurs journos are holding the line, saying that the club will reject any such bid made by Bayern. We’ve got a saga on our hands, folks. Big news from David.

A €100 million fee is obviously way over for a 30-year-old man with one year left on his contract. I can also see this ending up with Kane being pissed with Spurs and walking in 2024. The question is, where to? Bayern simply can’t wait until 2024 for him, and there’s no way he’ll go to other English clubs. Spurs have dug themselves a hole here. I propose that we go for Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa from Juventus; them combined will cost just over 100 million if the price is right. We would have paid more, but we could get more players for almost the same price.

Knowing that...are you in?At this point, how could Bayern Munich <em>not</em> be in?The Bavarians are engaging in something resembling a late night eBay bidding war. Simply put, Bayern Munich has come too far to let its prize slip away. €115 million? €120 million? There is no stopping this Kane Train (if I hashtag that, it is doomed to derail). Tottenham Hotspur clearly does not want to sell its poster boy, but getting nine figures now is likely far better than getting jack squat in 12 months. Postecoglou: “Harry Kane deal? Tottenham Hotspur v Shakhtar Donetsk - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Vince Mignott/MB Media/Getty Images Well, this doesn’t look good. According to the extremely reliable David Ornstein, Tottenham Hotspur have rejected Bayern Munich’s latest bid of €100m plus add-ons for Harry Kane. Per German sources this was supposed to be the final offer made by the club, so reading between the lines you get the impression that the deal could be nearing collapse. With less than a week left until both Spurs and Bayern resume their respective seasons, this setback makes securing Kane much more difficult unless Bayern Munich return with a much improved bid in the coming days. Bayern Munich have seen latest offer for Harry Kane rejected by Tottenham. After proposals in June + July turned down #FCBayern were £25m short of #THFC valuation. Talks last week led to improved bid but that has now been knocked back too @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/R7zVBWjGez— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) August 7, 2023At this point you have to ask, is it worth it? Bayern Munich went as high as it dared, now that the bid has been knocked back down, it seems clear that Daniel Levy and Spurs have no intention of budging from their original asking price. At that level, it makes more sense to go for a young player like Osimhen than someone like Kane who’s nearing thirty. Feels like Bayern should cut their losses and pull out of this one, it simply looks like it wasn’t meant to be. Frustrated by this insane turn of events? Should Bayern just give up on the Kane transfer? We discussed that very thing in the latest episode of our podcast! Listen to it below or on Spotify. As always, we appreciate all the support.

Tottenham Hotspur v Shakhtar Donetsk - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Visionhaus/Getty Images This is it! Remember when we were all sad and getting angsty about Harry Kane not possibly moving to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur? Well, BIG NEWS has come in from David Ornstein as he reports that the two clubs have agreed terms for the England striker: EXCLUSIVE: Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign Harry Kane, sources in Germany indicate. #FCBayern proposal worth above €100m accepted by #THFC. 30yo has been leaning towards staying but must now make a decision @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/mPjC3YPDnH— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) August 10, 2023Although this is well past the deadline that Bayern have initially set for Tottenham, this is great news as the Bavarians can finally solve their striker issue. Bayern also looked up Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus, Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt, and Victor Osimhen from Napoli but they finally settled on Kane and it looks like the transfer will be completed. As stated above: Daniel Levy has finally accepted Bayern’s offer of north of 100 million euros for Kane and we can all see the light at the end of the tunnel in this rather exhausting saga, though no one tops Leroy Sane’s transfer saga.Anyway, anticipate a “Here we go!“ from Fabrizio Romano soon enough.

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace - Premier League Photo by Tottenham Hotspur FC/Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images This comes from David Ornstein, who broke the news in the first place. FINALLY. IT’S ALMOST OVER. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur striker has finally agreed to move to Bayern Munich today. The 30-year-old is currently waiting for permission to travel to Germany and undergo his medical, which will take place on Friday according to German sources. Kane will sign a four-year contract, and not five as initially reported. Transfer fee is in the range of €110m plus add-ons. Here’s the announcement per Ornstein, who has been consistently the first person to report breakthroughs on this saga since it first began over a month ago: Harry Kane has reached an agreement to join Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur. Personal terms in place for 30yo to sign a 4yr contract. England captain awaiting green light from #THFC to travel for medical + complete transfer @TheAthleticFC #FCBayern https://t.co/LPAkVUiF9E— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) August 10, 2023This puts an end to speculation that Kane could reject Bayern Munich in favor of staying at Spurs for another season. The twelve hours have been a rollercoaster, from Spurs initially accepting Bayern’s bid, to Kane suddenly hesitating, followed by outcry and gnashing of teeth by fans, justifications from The Athletic (because that’s what they do), pundits and analysts weighing in, and finally rumors that another club was going to hijack the process. According to Romano, Spurs already gave Kane permission to travel to Germany, which is an important bit of news Ornstein did not share (or maybe Romano jumped the gun on this one). Honestly, reports are all over the place right now, but they all say the same thing — Bayern have their man. Now it’s all a matter of getting him on a plane and over to Munich where he can complete his medical and sign the piece of paper that will make him a Bayern player. After that, us fans can finally breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Brentford FC v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League Photo by Eddie Keogh/Getty Images Bayern Munich is getting its man... Per reports — and acknowledgement from club officials — Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has arrived in Germany to take a medical exam for Bayern Munich. Signing Dier would end weeks of speculation and confirm that the Bavarians were interested in inking Dier as far back as last summer. The confidant of Harry Kane has boots on the ground in Bavaria and could make a quick transition from the Premier League to the Bundesliga if his exam goes well. Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting that the move is a done deal, pending the result of the medical exam: EXCLUSIVE News #Dier: DONE DEAL - He will join FC Bayern! It’s a good day for Eric Dier fans at Bayern Munich! Why, exactly?Well, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the 30-year-old England defender has triggered a one-year extension to his current contract because of playing time milestones that he was able to reach. Suspension and injuries certainly helped Dier’s cause along the way. Bayern Munich fans were always aware of an option to trigger an extension in Dier’s contract, but the details of which were never known. Until now.According to Bild (As captured by @iMiaSanMia), the extension came into play once the former Spurs man made three starting eleven appearances (so just after the Bayer Leverkusen game). Resident Bayern Munich expert, Florian Plettenberg, also weighed in on Dier’s extension, stating that Bayern are “very satisfied with his performances.” News Eric #Dier: Yes, his contract has already automatically extended until 2025 ✔️

The 30-year-old’s contract has been extended by a season until 30 June 2025 after a pre-agreed clause was met. Dier originally joined Bayern in January on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. All in all, the contract extension is well deserved.Starting four out of Bayern’s last six Bundesliga games, Dier has been able to string together a consistent set of performances, most recently helping Die Rekordmeister to a 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig. While Eric Dier hasn’t exactly lit the pitch on fire, he has proved to be a reliable stopgap, bringing some stability into Bayern’s defence. In one of Bayern’s most unstable moments in recent memory, any stabilising presence is welcome.
