Report: Timo Werner wants a move to Bayern Munich
MediaCould the next stop on Timo Werner’s career path be in Bavaria? There have been whispers for the better part of the last two years that Timo Werner would be looking to take his talents to Bayern Munich in the near future. Per a report by Bild, that time could be soon if Werner has his way.Bild’s information states that Werner wants a move to Bavaria, but the topic has not reached the serious discussion stage between the two clubs. In addition, Bild states that Bayern’s front office did not think Werner was quite up to Bayern quality as of last summer.According to Bild’s information, Werner is ready to transfer to Munich to take the next step in his career. However: the topic has never been discussed concretely. In the summer, the Munich bosses judged him to be not (yet) Bayern-like.After an electric run of scoring in the Bundesliga, however, could the Bayern bosses be ready to raid RB Leipzig for its prized scorer?Timo Werner goals only come in twos... pic.twitter.com/YMT4gO9ghj— COPA90 (@COPA90) December 17, 2018When asked about the possibility of Werner eventually ending up in Bavaria, Niko Kovač did not want to go near the speculation.Timo is a great player. He’s developed very well and is a known entity in the Bundesliga. As for what happens in the winter or in the summer, we’ll leave that aside for the time being. How Werner would fit in with Bayern is another topic. Would he be a pure striker or could he be deployed on the wing?#Werner scored this beauty last weekend ☄️

Korea Republic v Germany: Group F - 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaPhoto by TF-Images/Getty ImagesWith Germany’s top forwards out of form, will Thomas Müller finally make a comeback to Die Mannschaft?Serge Gnabry and Timo Werner have been regulars for the German national team in recent years. Despite the national team’s performance, both these forwards were in the best form of their careers last season. However, this season hasn’t quite gone to plan for the usually lethal attackers. Could that open the door for Thomas Müller’s final chance to crack Germany’s roster?Werner has not been at his best since joining the Blues this summer. Whether this is an issue or him not being deployed properly by Lampard or purely his own fault, the performances have not been there. The German forward has not scored for Chelsea FC since November 7th and has come under criticism.⚽️ Werner's struggles at Chelsea - A thread ⚽️
At @ChelseaFC, Timo #Werner has been primarily used as a winger contrary to his striker position at RB Leipzig.
But the problem is not only Werner's position but also his role at #Chelsea as this thread attempts to unveil.#CFC pic.twitter.com/7H3XpNvikv— Max Bergmann (@MaxBergmnn) December 27, 2020Gnabry was another German at the top of his game last season. However, this season, he has scored only four goals and made two assists in 19 appearances for Bayern Munich. On top of this, Gnabry has gone seven games in a row without a goal in the Bundesliga. While he hasn’t been poor, there are certain expectations that haven’t quite been met.Apart from these two players, there are three others that make up the attacking core of the German national team: Leroy Sané, Marco Reus, and Kai Havertz. They are no exception to recent underperformance. Does Löw finally need to look elsewhere for options? Now more than ever, Löw has the perfect opportunity to reintroduce Müller to the team.We have said this many times, but there are so many reasons why Müller should return to Die Mannschaft. So far, Joachim Löw has stood his ground and refused on the grounds of “building the next generation” and similar excuses. But things could always change. So far this season, Müller has scored 9 times and provided 10 assists in 22 appearances. There is really no good reason not to have the 2010 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner back in the squad at this point. After Spain dismantled Germany 6-0 back in November, Joachim Löw has been under increasing pressure and might need a desperation move to save his job. Is this his last chance to make the cut? Only time will tell when Löw makes his next team selections in March.

Pretty/Getty Images for FC BayernCan you believe the Bayern Munich season is about to kick off this weekend? Will Chelsea be Davies’ next move? (Football London)Could Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies be eyeing a move to...Chelsea FC?Probably not right now, but some outlets are connecting the dots on a how the Canadian star could end up in London:Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has revealed that he used to support Chelsea as a youngster, an admission that could potentially open up a possible Blues transfer in the future amid Thomas Tuchel’s defensive struggles currently in the market. The full-back area could become an area of concern, especially if both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso were to eventually get their Barcelona wishes granted amid rumours that Chelsea have terminated talks with Barca due to the Kounde stand-off. With Jonathan Clauss set for Marseille, a new left-back or cover for Reece James may not be on the agenda until the 2023 January transfer or maybe even next summer. One man who could bite at the opportunity to join Chelsea is Bayern superstar Davies who made an admission that could prove prominent in the future. Having established himself as one of the best in his position in the Bundesliga, many big clubs would jump at the opportunity to sign him. Maybe after listening to his short Blues message, Boehly will have his agents number in mind ahead of future transfer windows.(Places on tinfoil hat, fires up X-Files music)Okay, so reports like this do not mean anything...like, anything at all really. However, Davies could be a candidate to move on from Bayern Munich when his contract expires in 2025 (which would mean he could be up for sale by the summer of 2024) just based on how young he is and how he has already established himself as the type of talent that Premier League clubs would drool over. There is no reason to think Davies will be going anywhere, any time soon — or really even that he wants to go anywhere ever at all (unless you have a weird hunch) — so it is nothing to be alarmed about at this stage. It will be interesting, though, to see what clubs come calling for the Canadian in 2024.Bayern kicking the tires on Timo? (Sport Bild via Get Football News Germany)One of Bayern Munich’s biggest competitors in the Bundesliga is still working through some red tape in hopes of acquiring Chelsea FC forward Timo Werner. At the moment, RB Leipzig is balking at Chelsea’s €33 million price tag on Werner and would prefer to bring him back to Germany on a “loan with an option to buy”-type arrangement:As reported by Sport Bild, RB Leipzig have a preference to loan Timo Werner from Chelsea but the Premier League side would rather sell on a permanent basis for a reported €33m.Chelsea’s asking price for Werner is too high for Leipzig following the recent arrival of David Raum from Hoffenheim for around €26m. A possible solution would be signing the 26-year-old German forward on loan with a purchase obligation in 2023, when there’s a possibility that Christopher Nkunku, who signed a contract extension until 2026, could depart the Bundesliga club.Serie A side Juventus have also shown an interest in Werner and Chelsea would need a replacement, hence their preference to sell the Germany international.RB Leipzig actually provided some commentary on the pursuit process as well. Chelsea v Arsenal - Florida CupPhoto by Trevor Ruszkowski/ISI Photos/Getty ImagesTimo Werner is reportedly returning to the Bundesliga.According to Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea FC and RB Leipzig have struck a deal for former Bayern Munich transfer target and current Germany forward Timo Werner.Werner, of course, became a breakout star with RB Leipzig before moving to Chelsea for the 2020/21 season where he won a Champions League title with the Premier League club. Things, however, would not always be great for Werner at Chelsea as the squad was overloaded with forwards and also offered little consistency for him and most other younger players. Now, though, Werner looks like he is headed back to Leipzig for the stretch run leading into this winter’s World Cup in Qatar:Excl. Timo #Werner: He is on verge to join Leipzig! It’s almost a DONE DEAL. Positive developments in the last days. Timo wants to return & he will. Total agreement expected in the next week. Massive deal for RB and the Bundesliga! #CFC @Sky_Marc @philipphinze24 @SkySportDE— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) August 7, 2022Plettenberg issued a follow-up tweet stating that he did not know if the move would be a loan agreement or a permanent deal just yet:Loan or permanent deal .. For this we are still in research. It’s not 100 % clear at this stage. We expect a loan with an option to buy.— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) August 7, 2022Werner’s pace and ability to create offense has rarely been questioned, but he became the target of many English fans for ill-time offside runs and missing chances that some considered to be easy while in London.Whatever the case, Werner will make RB Leipzig a better, more competitive squad, but there could be some roster fallout. With Werner in tow, Die Roten Bullen will add the Germany international to an attack that currently features Christopher Nkunku, Dani Olmo, Dominik Szoboszlai, André Silva, Emil Forsberg, Yussuf Poulsen, and Alexander Sørloth among others. In a season where Bayern Munich is making a speedy attack all the rage, RB Leipzig is trying to counter that with its own set of lightning-fast forwards. The arrival of Werner and Hoffenheim left-back David Raum, plus Konrad Laimer looking like he will be staying put for this season, figures to make RB Leipzig a much more formidable opponent for Bayern Munich and everyone else during this campaign. The move should benefit Werner’s status with the German national team as well. With RB Leipzig, Werner is almost certain to get the minutes he needs to stay near the top of Hansi Flick’s depth chart.

RB Leipzig v TSG Hoffenheim - Bundesliga Photo by Luciano Lima/Getty Images Back to England? Update: Saturday January 6th, 8:35AM EST — Werner on his way to LondonPer Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner will set off for London on Sunday. Werner believes that a move to Tottenham Hotspur will help his chances to make the German national team for the Euros this summer: Details Timo #Werner: If everything goes well today, the 27 y/o is expected to travel to the Spurs tomorrow ✈️➡️ It’s a 6-months-loan➡️ Final negotiations currently underway ✔️ Verbal agreement between Werner & @SpursOfficial is done as revealed. Werner wants to join Spurs and Postecoglou to keep his chances alive for the EUROs. @SkySportDERB Leipzig is chasing Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, while also being in the midst of a transition as a squad. That the club has achieved such good results so far this season is impressive. As seems to be the cycle at the club, though, more and more veterans have left — or are on the verge of leaving — to make way for younger players.Timo Werner, once the centerpiece of Leipzig’s attack, seems to be the next veteran player ready to make an exit.According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Werner could be heading head off to Tottenham Hotspur to help the club replace the scoring void left by current Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane: More on Timo #Werner and our exclusive news / @philipphinze24: ➡️ Tottenham is likely to cover his salary until the end of the season➡️ There has been significant movement in the poker since yesterday! Werner, he’s ready to join @SpursOfficial on a 6-months-loan immediately! Final details between the clubs will be clarified today ✔️@SkySportDEWerner, who has been battling injuries this season, is among the established players caught up in a club that is transitioning generations. A six-month loan could benefit both parties, but only if Werner is healthy, confident, and in-form. If any of those three components are missing from Werner’s game, the arrangement likely will not pan out.
