🔻 Imagine a three-meter length and two-meter width for this mihrab (envision its grandeur).
✍ The mihrab you see in the picture is from the Imamia School of Isfahan, built during the Ilkhanate period (700 years ago). This mihrab is adorned with shades of turquoise blue, milky white, dark green, and yellow, displaying fascinating geometric patterns.
Now, here's the intriguing part: in the early 1300s, this mihrab was dismantled from the Imamia School and sent to Philadelphia, USA, by ship. For a while, it was housed in the museum of the University of Philadelphia and later in the Persian section of the Burlington House in London, until the Metropolitan Museum acquired it in 1939.

The End of an Era 🕋
On the occasion of the collapse of the Umayyad dynasty following the assassination of Marwan ibn Muhammad (Marwan al-Himar) , the last Umayyad caliph, in 132 AH (750 CE) .
But was this merely the fall of a ruling family, or the logical conclusion of a much deeper legacy?
🔍 A controversial genealogical inquiry suggests that the Umayyads were not just political rivals of the Hashimites, but perhaps ideological and racial adversaries with a very different origin.
Key points from the analysis:
· The Cursed Tree: The Prophet (PBUH) reportedly applied the “accursed tree” in the Qur’an to the Umayyads.
· Monkey Metaphor: A disturbing dream of monkeys climbing his pulpit was interpreted by the Prophet as referring to the Umayyads, reminiscent of the Jewish punishment of being transformed into apes.
· Unnatural Hostility: An unrelenting, generational war against the Hashimites – from Abu Sufyan vs. the Prophet, Muawiyah vs. Imam Ali, to Yazid vs. Imam Husayn (AS).
· Questionable Lineage: Strong evidence from early Islamic historians suggesting Abu Amr (Dhukwan) was a Jewish freed slave from Saffuriyya, not a true Qurayshi. Accusations of adultery, adoption, and Roman/Jewish roots surround the Umayyad ancestry.
📜 One striking quote from Imam Ali (AS) to Muawiyah:
“Freedmen and their children have nothing to do with the early migrants… the sound of the gaming piece proves it is not from the same set.” (Nahj al-Balaghah)

Was the Umayyad Caliphate a continuation of a non-Arab, Judeo-Roman priestly ambition? Judge for yourself.
