The Poor
β¨Beware! Fear God when dealing with the #problem of the poor who have none to patronize them, who are forlorn, indigent, #helpless and are greatly torn in mind β victims of the vicissitudes of time. Among them are some who do not question their lot in #life and who, notwithstanding their misery, do not go about seeing alms.
β¨For Godβs sake, safeguard their #rights , for on you rests the responsibility of protecting their interests.
β¨Assign for their uplift a portion of the state exchequer (Bayt al-Mal), wherever they may be, whether close at hand or far away from you. The rights of the two should be #equal in your eye. Do not let any preoccupation slip them from your mind, for no excuse whatsoever for the disregard of their rights will be acceptable to God.
β¨Do not treat their interests as of less importance than your own, and never keep them outside the purview of your important considerations, and mark the persons who look down upon them and of whose conditions they keep you in #ignorance .
β¨Select from among your officers such men as are meek and God fearing who can keep you properly informed of the condition of the poor. Make such provision for these #poor #people as shall not oblige you to offer an excuse before God on the Day of #Judgment for, it is this section of the people which, more than any other, deserves benevolent treatment.
β¨Seek your reward from #God by giving to each of them what is due to him and enjoin on yourself as a sacred #duty the task of meeting the needs of such aged among them as have no independent means of livelihood and are averse to seek alms. The discharge of this duty is what usually proves very trying to rulers, but is very welcome to societies which are gifted with foresight. It is only such societies or nations who truly carry out with equanimity their covenant with God to discharge their duty to the poor.

β¨Beware! Abstain from shedding blood without a valid cause. There is nothing more #harmful than this which brings about oneβs ruin. The #blood that is willfully shed shortens the life of a state. On the Day of #Judgment it is this #crime for which one will have to answer first. So, beware! Before me and my #God no excuse for willful killing can be entertained.

Rahyafte (The Guided Ones)

ποΈ Part 2: The Ultimate Gratitude β Guidance to Wilayah
Continuing our reflection on the profound verse:
"And We will remove whatever rancor is in their breasts... They will say, 'Praise be to Allah, who has guided us to this. We would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us.'"(Holy Quran, Surah Al-A'raf, 7:43)
1. The Incomparable Station of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS)
A remarkable conversation between Salman al-Farsi(RA) and Imam Ali (AS) unveils the depth of their divinely bestowed status. When asked about the greatest blessing given to them, Imam Ali (AS) described knowledge of the Greatest Name of Allah (Al-Ism al-A'zam), through which the heavens, the earth, Paradise, and Hell could be moved.
Yet, despite this unimaginable spiritual authority, he immediately stated:
"With all of this, we eat, we drink, we walk in the markets... We are the honored servants of Allah who do not precede Him in speech, and they act by His command. He made us infallible and purified, and favored us over many of His believing servants. Therefore, we say: 'Praise be to Allah, who has guided us to this. And we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us.'"
(Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 26, P. 7)
The teachers of this gratitude are the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) themselves. Their ultimate praise is for the very guidance they embody.
2. The Scene of Recognition on Judgment Day
Imam al-Sadiq(AS) further elaborates on the scene in the Hereafter:
"On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will call the Prophet (PBUH) and Ali (AS), and they will be seated upon the Chair of Honor before the Throne. Whenever a group of their followers emerges, they will recognize them, saying, 'This is the Prophet and this is his Successor.'
They will then say to one another:
'Praise be to Allah, who has guided us to this...' β through the Wilayah (guardianship) of the Prophet (PBUH), Ali (AS), and the Imams (AS) from their progeny.
Then, they will be commanded to be taken to Paradise."
(Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 36, P. 114)
β¨ The Final Reflection:
The cry of"Alhamdulillah" in Paradise is the culmination of a journey that began with accepting the divine guidance offered in this world through the Wilayah of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). They are the ultimate means (Wasila) by which we recognize the path to our Lord. Their own gratitude illuminates the path for our own.

π The Divine Crier: Imam Ali (AS) in the Holy Quran π Quranic Foundation: Surah Al-A'raf, Verses 44-45: "And the companions of Paradise will call out to the companions of the Fire: 'We have found what our Lord promised us to be true. Have you found whatβ¦
Part 1: π
The Men on the A'raf | Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 46 π
"And between them is a veil, and on the A'raf are men who recognize each by their mark. They call out to the companions of Paradise, 'Peace be upon you!' They have not entered it, but they are eager."
(Al-A'raf, 46)
---
π The Verse & Its Deeper Meaning
This verse introduces a profound reality: the "A'raf" β a place between Paradise and Hell β and the "Men" upon it. But who are these men?
---
π Part 2: The Gate to Allah is Through Them
From Imam Ali (as):
"We are upon the A'raf; we recognize our supporters by their marks. And we are the A'raf by whom Allah cannot be recognized except through our recognition... Allah has made us His Gates, His Path (Sirat), and His Way. Whoever deviates from our Wilayah has indeed deviated from the Path."
π Key Point: They are the ultimate criterion. Knowing them is the only way to know Allah. Loving them is the only path to Him.
---
βοΈ The Final Judgment on the Sirat
From Imam Ali (as) & Imam Sadiq (as):
"We are the Men on the A'raf who will be stationed on the Sirat on the Day of Judgment. No one will enter Paradise except the one who knows us and whom we know. And no one will enter the Fire except the one who rejects us and whom we reject."
π‘ The Scale: Your recognition and love for the Ahlul Bayt (as) is the defining factor for your eternal destiny. It's that simple, and that decisive.
---
β€οΈ A Promise of Salvation for the Lovers
From Imam Ali (as):
"By Allah, the Splitter of the seeds and the stones, no one who loves us will enter the Fire, and no one who bears hatred towards us will enter Paradise."
π― The Guarantee: Divine love for the Ahlul Bayt (as) is your ultimate shield and guarantee of salvation.
---
π― Conclusion: The Choice is Yours
The "Men on the A'raf" are none other than the Holy Ahlul Bayt (as): The Prophet (pbuh&hf), Imam Ali, Lady Fatima, and the Imams (peace be upon them all).
Their recognition is not just theoretical knowledge. It is love, obedience, and following their path.
The two paths are clear:
β‘οΈLove them, follow them, and be recognized by them for entry into Paradise.
β¬ οΈReject them, and face the dire consequences.
Choose wisely. Your eternity depends on it.

π€οΈ The A'raf is the Sirat & They are its Guardians
Imam al-Baqir (as) was asked, "What is Al-A'raf?"
He(as) replied:
"It is the Sirat (Path) between Paradise and Hell. Whoever is granted intercession by the Imams from among the sinful believers will be saved, and whoever is not granted their intercession will fall."
π Insight: The A'raf isn't just a place; it's the ultimate crossroads β the Sirat al-Mustaqeem itself. The Ahlul Bayt (as) are its eternal guardians and intercessors.
---
πͺ The Red Ruby Gate of Paradise
Imam al-Baqir (as) said:
"They are the Imams from us, the Ahlul Bayt, upon a gate of red ruby on the wall of Paradise. Every Imam from us knows what is after him... from the generation he is in to the generation that has passed."
π° Visualize: They are not just on the path; they are the very Gate to Paradise. Their knowledge transcends time, recognizing every soul from every era destined for them.
---
βοΈ The Final Distinction β Helpers vs. Enemies
Imam Ali (as) said:
"We will be stationed on the Day of Judgment between Paradise and Hell. So, whoever supported us, we will recognize him by his mark and admit him into Paradise. And whoever harbored hatred for us, we will recognize him by his mark and admit him into the Fire."
π The Marks: Your true inner state β your love or hatred β will be manifest as a visible "mark" on the Day of Judgment. They will see it and judge accordingly.
---
π The Two Choices β A Turbid Pond or an Eternal Spring?
Imam al-Baqir (as) beautifully contrasts the paths:
"Those who go to other than us go to a turbid pond, one flowing into the other (and eventually drying up). But whoever comes to the Family of Muhammad (pbuh&hf) comes to a pure, gushing spring flowing with the knowledge of Allah, having no end and no cessation."
π€ Reflect: Your source of guidance determines your end. Is it a temporary, muddy man-made pond? Or the eternal, pure spring of the Ahlul Bayt (as)?
---
π Conclusion: They are the Only Door
Imam al-Baqir (as) concludes by explaining a crucial verse:
"Allah has made Muhammad and his Family the Doors which He is approached through. And that is His saying: 'It is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is to be pious. And enter houses through their doors.' (Quran 2:189)"
πͺ The Final Word: There is no backdoor to Allah. There is no alternative path. The Ahlul Bayt (as) are the appointed Doors. To try to reach Allah without them is to try to enter a house from its back, an act of transgression.
To know them is to know Allah.
To love them is to love Allah.
To follow them is to follow the Sirat.

To follow them is to follow the Sirat.

β¨ Part 2: The Men on the A'raf β The Full Picture β¨ Continuing our reflection on Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 46. --- π€οΈ The A'raf is the Sirat & They are its Guardians Imam al-Baqir (as) was asked, "What is Al-A'raf?" He(as) replied: "It is the Sirat (Path)β¦
π The Scene on the A'raf Unveiled | Part 3 π
As we delve deeper into Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 46, the majestic scene of the A'raf becomes ever more vivid.
---
π The Masters of Recognition
Imam al-Baqir (as) and Imam al-Sadiq (as) affirm:
"They are the Imams from the Family of Muhammad (pbuh&hf). They know who enters the Fire and who enters Paradise, just as you know the righteous and the wicked among your own tribes."
π΅οΈββοΈ Their Knowledge: Their recognition isn't merely by sight; it's a profound knowledge of the inner reality of every soul, distinguishing the faithful from the rejecters with absolute certainty.
---
π The Title Bearers
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&hf) declared to Imam Ali (as) β not once, but over ten times:
"O Ali, you and the successors after you are the A'raf between Paradise and Hell. No one enters Paradise except he who knows you and you know him, and no one enters the Fire except he who rejects you and you reject him."
Imam Ali (as) himself stated:
"I am the leader of the believers, the first of the foremost, the successor of the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds, the distributor of Paradise and Hell, and I am the Master of the A'raf."
π Their Status: This is not a metaphorical role. It is a divinely appointed position of authority on the Day of Judgment, directly bestowed by Allah and His Prophet.
---
β°οΈ The Scene Unfolds β The Hill of A'raf
Imam al-Sadiq (as) paints the full picture:
"Al-A'raf are hills between Paradise and Hell. The Imams stand upon Al-A'raf with their sinful followers, while the righteous believers have already entered Paradise without account."
The scene has three acts:
1. π The Call to the People of Paradise: The Imams (as) say to their followers who are held back due to their sins: "Look at your righteous brothers in Paradise! They have preceded you!" These followers then call out: "Peace be upon you!" (This is the call mentioned in the verse: "...and they call out to the companions of Paradise, 'Peace be upon you!'")
2. π₯ The Glance Towards the People of the Fire: Then the followers on A'raf are told to look at their enemies in the Fire. Seeing the punishment, they cry out: "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people!"
3. π― The Final Address: The Imams (as) then call out to their enemies in the Fire, whom they recognize by their marks, reminding them of their arrogance in the world. Finally, they turn to their followers and give the ultimate command: "Enter Paradise! No fear shall be upon you, nor shall you grieve."
---
π Conclusion of this Part
The narrative is powerfully unfolding. The "Men on the A'raf" are undeniably the Holy Ahlul Bayt (as). In this scene, we see them not only as judges but also as compassionate intercessors and leaders for their followers, guiding them from the brink of Hell into the safety of Paradise.

π°οΈ The A'raf: The Full Assembly & The Final Distinction | Part 4 π°οΈ
In this part, we explore the complete assembly on the A'raf and address a profound theological question.
---
π₯ The Complete Assembly on the A'raf
The narrations specify the exalted individuals who will be stationed on the A'raf:
From Ibn 'Abbas and Imam al-Sadiq (as):
"Upon a wall between Paradise and Hell stand: The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&hf), Ali, Fatima, Hasan, Husayn, and Khadija (peace be upon them all)."
Another narration includes:
"Al-'Abbas, Hamzah, Ali ibn Abi Talib (as), and Ja'far al-Tayyar (upon him peace)."
π€² Their Call: They will call out: "Where are our lovers? Where are our Shi'a?" They will then recognize them by their names and the names of their fathers, take them by the hand, and guide them across the Sirat into Paradise.
---
βοΈ The Twelve Luminous Guides
A profound narration from Imam al-Sadiq (as) leaves no room for doubt:
"They are the Twelve Successors. Allah is not recognized except by he who recognizes them and they recognize him... Al-A'raf are mounds of musk upon which the Messenger of Allah (pbuh&hf) and the Successors (as) stand."
π’ The Number: The "Men on the A'raf" are explicitly the Fourteen Infallibles (as) and the Twelve Imams (as). They are the collective criterion for the salvation of all humanity.
---
β―οΈ The Marks of Recognition β White Faces vs. Black Faces
How will they be recognized? The narrations are vivid:
"They recognize their lovers by the whiteness of their faces, and their enemies by the blackness of their faces."_
"They recognize the people of Paradise by the marks of the obedient, and the people of the Fire by the marks of the disobedient."_
β¨ The Inner State Made Visible: Your love or hatred for the Ahlul Bayt (as) is not hidden. On that Day, it will be manifested as a clear, visible light (Noor) or darkness on your face.
---
βAnswering a Critical Question
A companion named Zurarah asked Imam al-Sadiq (as): "Isn't a person either a believer or a disbeliever? So where do the 'Companions of A'raf' fit in?"
The Imam (as) brilliantly replied by listing several groups from the Quran who don't fit a simple binary:
Β· The Companions of A'raf
Β· Those whose hearts are to be reconciled
Β· Those who mix good deeds with bad
He then concluded by quoting the verse itself:
"They have not entered it (Paradise), but they are eager." (7:46)
The Imam (as) said: "If they were [complete] believers, they would have entered Paradise, and if they were disbelievers, they would have entered the Fire. Leave them where Allah has left them (with hope)."
π‘ The Wisdom: This highlights the vastness of Allah's mercy and the role of intercession. There are souls whose fate is not instantly sealed; they are held on the A'raf, hopeful due to their fundamental love and recognition, awaiting the intercession of their Masters.
---
π Conclusion of this Part
The scene is now complete in its grandeur. The Ahlul Bayt (as) are not a single figure but a united, luminous assembly. They are the ultimate reference point, the recognizers, the intercessors, and the guides.
Their call on the Day of Judgment will be the most hopeful sound for their followers. Your connection to them is not just a matter of faith; it is the very substance that will define your appearance and your destiny on the Day of Al-A'raf.

π― The A'raf: Your Eternal Destiny & The Call to Action | Final Part π―
In this final part, we conclude our profound journey into the meaning of the A'raf, drawing practical lessons for our lives today.
---
π The Six Groups of Humanity
Imam al-Sadiq (as) provides a comprehensive overview of humanity's fate:
"People are of six categories, which ultimately boil down to three: Faith, Disbelief, and Misguidance. They are the people of the two promises (Paradise and Hell) β the believers and the disbelievers. Then there are the Mustad'afun (the oppressed and weak), those left awaiting Allah's command, those who confess their sins having mixed good and bad deeds, and the People of A'raf."
This clarifies that the scene on the A'raf is for a specific group whose scales are balanced, awaiting the intercession of their Masters.
---
βοΈ The People of Balanced Scales
Imam al-Sadiq (as) defines the "Companions of A'raf" precisely:
"They are a people whose good deeds and bad deeds are equal. If He admits them to the Fire, it is due to their sins; and if He admits them to Paradise, it is due to His Mercy."
This is the ultimate manifestation of Divine Justice intertwined with Divine Mercy. Their salvation hinges on the connection they built with the Ahlul Bayt (as).
---
π€ A Warning Against Hasty Judgment
The encounter between Imam al-Baqir (as) and Zurarah is a powerful lesson. When Zurarah presented a rigid, binary view of faith, the Imam (as) corrected him by listing the various groups from the Quran who don't fit this mold, including the People of A'raf, the Mustad'afun, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled.
π‘ The Lesson: We must avoid judging people hastily and writing them off. Only the Masters of A'raf have the ultimate authority to recognize and judge. Our duty is to love, invite, and hope for Allah's mercy for all.
---
π The Most Honorable of Creation
When asked, "Who are the people of A'raf?" Imam al-Baqir (as) gave a sublime answer:
"They are the most honorable of creation in the sight of Allah."
This is the highest status. They are not merely judges; they are the most beloved and honored servants of Allah, stationed at the most critical junction of the Hereafter.
---
ποΈ The Mark of the Humble
Imam al-Sadiq (as) connects this cosmic reality to a personal virtue:
"The humble people have a mark that the angels in the heavens and the knowers ('Arifin) on earth recognize. Allah says: 'And on the A'raf are men who recognize everyone by their marks.'"
π The Connection: The "mark" that the Ahlul Bayt (as) will see on the Day of Judgment begins to form right here in this world. True humility and love for them etches a luminous mark on your soul, a mark that the angels and the pure in heart can perceive even now.
---
π Conclusion: The Final Triumph & Our Responsibility
The scene concludes with the ultimate triumph of the lovers of the Ahlul Bayt (as). As the Ahlul Bayt (as) address their enemies in the Fire, they declare:
"Are these not my Shi'a and my brothers, about whom you used to swear in the world that Allah's mercy would never reach them?"
This is the final victory. The love you hold in your heart today is the very thing your enemies mocked. On that Day, it will be your salvation and their utter humiliation.
Your takeaway is clear:
1. Strengthen your recognition of the Ahlul Bayt (as) through knowledge.
2. Nurture a sincere, humble love for them in your heart.
3. Avoid arrogance and hasty judgment of others.
4. Live in hope of Allah's mercy and their intercession.
Build your connection to the Masters of the A'raf now, so that on that Day, they will recognize you by your mark, take your hand, and lead you across the Sirat into the eternal peace of Paradise.
The series on the A'raf concludes. May Allah include us among those recognized by Muhammad and his Pure Family. π€²
