- Muawiya raised an army of Muslims unfamiliar with true Islam to fight against Imam Ali (ع) at Siffin.
- The battles of Jamal and Nahrawan were direct consequences of these manipulated conquests.

- Wars diverted attention from the illegitimacy of early rulers.
