✍ The "Tallis" or "Tallit" in Hebrew טלית, is a large garment that Jews drape over their shoulders or head during prayer (tefilah). It’s different from an 'aba (cloak).

🔹 The small cube (tefillin for the head) and the leather strap wrapped seven times around the left arm (tefillin for the hand) are also called Tefillin.

🔸 While we're on the subject, it’s interesting to note that in the History of the City of Damascus, Volume 23, Page 190, Abu Ishaq Sabi'i narrates:

🔺 “I saw Shimar bin Dhi al-Jawshan, the killer of Husayn ibn Ali, and I didn’t see anyone in Kufa wearing a Tallis except him!” #Tallis

🔹 The name Shimar means "storyteller" in Hebrew.

🔸 His father's name, Shurhabil, is also Hebrew:

🔺 "Shurhabil is a name, believed to be Najrani or Syriac. Some linguists say that any Arabic name containing 'El' is related to God, blessed and exalted be He" [Ibn Duraid, Muhammad ibn Hasan, Al-Ishtiqaq, p. 98].

🔹 Shurhabil is an ancient Arabic male name, possibly foreign, as it ends with "El," the Hebrew word for God, meaning the original name was "Shurhab," with "El" added [Dictionary of Idioms].

🔸 Although I personally believe this name has a different meaning.

🔹 Furthermore, the title of Shimar’s father, "Dhul Jawshan," contrary to popular belief, is also Hebrew. "Goshen" or in Arabic "Jawshan" (English: Gosen) refers to the land in Egypt where the Jews lived.
