🔴 The Savior: From “Iran to America” and Its Reflection in Foreign Policy
✍️ Mostafa Amiri
▪️ The text was initially only a message from our audience, and we did not intend to add anything to it. However, the issue was so important that it was eventually edited. Now, this “combined text” from the audience and the author is presented to you:
▪️ The reason the culture of awaiting (انتظار) has not fully developed in Iran, or what you call “active awaiting,” is that religious experts have presented Mahdism as so abstract, non-operational, and devoid of practical agency that many people do not have a tangible understanding of it.
● Now, take a survey: Out of these 80 million people in Iran, how many are serious followers and actively engaged in Mahdism-related topics?
● What is the most viewed Mahdist channel? How many members does it have? At most, 30,000.
▪️ Suppose even 500,000 out of 80 million follow a certain Mahdist channel. Look at the recent posts of these channels — how many views did they get? Then compare that with sports and entertainment channels.
▪️ On the other hand, there is this famous phrase in the popular approach to the concept of the Savior:
“Imam Mahdi will come and fix everything.”
▪️ Well, how much of this perception is believable or rational?
But in contrast, in America, they have successfully framed the discourse of the coming of the Savior as completely achievable and down-to-earth. Completely tangible!
▪️ What does that mean? It means you must take these steps for the Savior to appear:
Support the establishment of Israel, consider war in the Middle East as part of a divine plan, etc.
▪️ Cultural projects, valuable publications, media productions, organizations like Christians United for Israel (CUFI), etc., are merely examples of practical actions in American society.
▪️ The result is that in the Shia land of Imam Mahdi, because people lack a proper understanding of the issue, they do not feel a strong sense of duty.
▪️ Meanwhile, in America, both the government and the people who await the Savior have long been planning, future-studying, and taking #practical action, because for them, the issue equates to a sense of duty and social power — and its reflection in U.S. foreign policy is evident.
▪️ The consequences of these two models of promoting the discourse of awaiting the Savior can now be seen in the two societies:
● In Iranian society, people say: “What do we have to do with Lebanon and Palestine?”
● But in American society, they consider supporting Jews and Israel as a divine plan for the future and the salvation of humanity. Isn’t that strange?
These topics that you present and emphasize should reach the youth — they are documented, rational, and based on tangible evidence, and will be very enlightening.
