๐ The late Ayatollah Mujtahidi:
โ There are two things that annihilate sins:
1- Illness:
๐ Imam Ali (peace be upon him) once addressed one of his companions who had fallen ill and said:
"Allah has made your illness a means of diminishing your sins. A person who suffers from fever is atoning for his sins. Do not distress over being sick, do not complain. The benefit of falling ill is that it destroys sins. By complaining and lamenting, you diminish its reward and merit."
2- Prostration:
๐ It is narrated that when a person prostrates and remains in prostration for a while, glorifying God, it is said that prostration sheds sins, just as the wind in autumn blows away the leaves of a tree.

๐ธ Sin and the Smell of Garlic ๐ธ
โOne who has eaten garlic themselves cannot smell its odorโneither on themselves nor on others.
#Sin has a foul odor that the sinner themselves does not perceive; but those who are not accustomed to sin can distinctly smell its unpleasant stench!โ

๐ธThe Reason for God's Different Treatment of Believing and Non-Believing Societies๐ธ
#Sin decreases sustenance, and that is why God has taught us to seek forgiveness so that He may send rain upon us:
You may ask: How is it that those who neither pray nor worship receive abundant and regular rain, while weโwho pray and believe in Godโsuffer from drought because of one or a few sins?
The reason is that there exists between you and God a relationship of divine nurturing and discipline.
You are within Godโs sphere of education. Those who are within this divine educational domain experience reward and punishment. But those who have left that sphere and been abandoned to themselves are treated differently.
A child who attends school is not the same as one who roams the streets without supervision. No one asks the street child about his homework; but a child who has a father, when he neglects his duties, may have his allowance reduced or cut off.
You are not the stray children of the worldโyou are under the training of faith and the Qurโan, and every action of yours is under the observation of God and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
The Imam of the Age (may Allah hasten his reappearance) reviews our deeds twice every week.
Such is your condition: when you pay zakat, God increases your rainfall and turns away floods and calamities.
