TB bacteria ‘play dead’ to outlast vaccinated or previously infected hosts. 🦠🛡️ Genetic mouse study shows TB switches into a quiescent survival mode, relying on stress-response genes rather than growth factors, undermining traditional vaccine protection and guiding new vaccine plus therapy strategies. 💉🔬

Personalized vaccine shows promise against aggressive brain cancer (glioblastoma). People in early clinical trial had increased immune response, slowed tumor progression. The vaccine caused no serious side effects. One long-term survivor remains recurrence…
🧠 Personalized Vaccine Shows Promise Against Aggressive Brain Cancer
A phase 1 clinical trial for a personalized DNA-based vaccine, GNOS-PV01, targeting glioblastoma has shown encouraging results. The vaccine demonstrated safety and elicited robust immune responses, potentially increasing recurrence-free survival in a subset of patients.

📈 Improved Survival Rates and Immune Activation
In patients with an aggressive form of glioblastoma, the vaccine was linked to prolonged overall survival compared to historical outcomes. Two-thirds of patients did not have cancer progression at six months, and two-thirds survived one year, outperforming typical rates. One participant remains recurrence-free nearly five years later.

🔬 Novel Approach Targets Multiple Neoantigens
The vaccine activates a patient's immune system to recognize multiple unique tumor proteins (neoantigens) specific to their cancer. This DNA-based platform targets up to 40 cancer proteins per patient, twice the number targeted by previous cancer vaccines, aiming to overcome tumor evolution and the "cold tumor" environment.

Vaccine protects against multiple fungal infections without hurting the gut Read Full Article #VaccineResearch #FungalInfections #GutHealth
🦠 A new vaccine, NXT-2, developed by University of Georgia researchers, shows success in preclinical animal models against life-threatening fungal infections.

🦠 This study is the first to evaluate a vaccine's impact on the gut microbiome's natural fungal and bacterial communities, finding NXT-2 protects against harmful fungi without significantly altering beneficial microbes.

🦠 NXT-2 has proven effective against the three most common fungal pathogens responsible for over 80% of fatal fungal infections, and also shows efficacy against the difficult-to-treat Candida auris.
