🎼12 May 1971. It's 50 years now when Weather Report released their debut album of the same name.
Their music is Jazz Fusion 🎺🎹πŸ₯ and they are wideley considered one of the best bands in history in this genre!
I'm not particularly fond of this kind of music but one thing is sure: when I put #WeatherReport (any of their records) as background music, whatever I'm doing I can leave them on hours and hours without noticing or getting bored... and I guess that's because my brain thinks it's good πŸ§ πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

πŸ“œ12 May 1797. The last day of the #Serenissima Republic of Venice.
Under siege for days by the troops of Napoleon which stopped in the mainland and were ready to invade Venice, the Maggior Consiglio (Venice Parliament) in a dramatic last meeting decided to depose the Doge Ludovico Manin, to surrender to #Napoleon avoiding bloodshed and to create a Municipality, thus killing the Republic after 1100 years. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜”
The Venetians and the #Schiavoni (= people from the Balkans who worked in Venice for ages) took this as the Doge's betrayal and tried to organise a rebellion in the city under the #SanMarco flag. The riots were easily defeated by the Venetian new miltary police itself (see picture of riots on #RialtoBridge☝️) and Napoleon could enter the city without opposition some days later.
He would then use Venice as a bargain and after "undressing" the city of the works of art he was interested in, he sold Venice to Austria some months later.
