📜15 April 1423. Francesco Foscari is elected as the 65th Doge of the Republic of Venice. His "dogado" (=reign) will last 34 years until his death in 1457 and it's the longest of all Doges in Venetian history!
🤴Foscari is a crucial figure for Venice: his "dogado" sees the inception of the Italian #Renaissance, Venice is at the peak of its grandeur and he acquires the title of Serenissimo Principe: and precisely on that period Venice begins to be worldwide associated with the word #Serenissima!
🤴Foscari is also a legendary figure for Venice: he decided twice to exile his son Jacopo, the first time for corruption, the second time for complicity in murder. You can imagine his grief in doing that and the city was completely sympathetic and devoted to him for his sense of justice. Lord Byron will write a play on this entitled "The Two Foscari: A Historical Tragedy" (1821) and Giuseppe Verdi will put it in music in his early opera "I due Foscari" (1844).

30 years ago White Skull from #Vicenza, #Italy released their debut studio album.
Before evolving into an appeciated European Power Metal band in the following years, #WhiteSkull started their career delivering a pure Hard Rock / Heavy Metal sound. That's probably why this album is poorly considered in their discography, while in my opinion is absolutely great, a true hidden gem from Venice region🤘
In this album:
#FedericaDeBoni "Sister" – vocals
#TonyFontò "Mad" – guitars, backing vocals
#FabioPozzato – bass, backing vocals
#AlexMantiero – drums, keyboards
Additional musicians
#MaxFaccio – guitars
#MirkoGalliazzo, #SergioVettore – backing vocals
#LuisAlvarez – saxophone
