Helloween
πŸ“€ Walls Of Jericho
#HeavyMetal #SpeedMetal #PowerMetal

40 years ago Helloween from Hamburg, #Germany released their debut full-length studio album.

Walls Of Jericho is the last #Helloween recording with guitarist Kai Hansen on lead vocals (he also served on
πŸ‘‰ their first EP), as frontman Michael Kiske would join the band few months later.

The album contains several Helloween classics and is an absolute banger, Teutonic (and European) Power / Speed Metal at its highest level !!!

"Heavy Metal Is The Law"🀘

In this album:
#KaiHansen β€“ vocals, guitar
#MichaelWeikath β€“ guitar
#MarkusGrosskopf β€“ bass
#IngoSchwichtenberg β€“ drums

Additional musicians

Black Sabbath
πŸ“€ Paranoid
#HeavyMetal

55 years ago Black Sabbath from Birmingham, England #UK, released their 2nd studio album.

Paranoid came out few months after the band's πŸ‘‰ debut album.
It brought the heaviest guitar riffs ever heard at the time and disclosed to the world this new music genre: Heavy⚑️Metal.

Virtually every musician who started a Heavy Metal band in the next years, decades (and perhaps centuries) did it because of this!

"You can only trust yourself and the first six #BlackSabbath albums"🀘
- Henry Rollins

In this album:
#OzzyOsbourne β€“ vocals
#TonyIommi β€“ guitars, flute
#GeezerButler β€“ bass
#BillWard β€“ drums, congas

Ozzy Obourne
πŸ“€ The Ultimate Sin
#HeavyMetal #HardRock

40 years ago Ozzy Osbourne from West Midlands, England, #UK released his 4th studio album.

The Ultimate Sin was the highest charting and best selling Ozzy album at the time.

The album is generally poorly rated in Osbourne's solo discography and even Ozzy himself was never much proud of it in retrospect.
Nevertheless this is one of my favorites from him, also thanks to the wonderful work of guitarist Jake E. Lee, here at his last studio appearance with Ozzy🀘

In this album:
#OzzyOsbourne β€“ vocals
#JakeELee β€“ guitars
#PhilSoussan β€“ bass
#RandyCastillo β€“ drums

Black Sabbath
πŸ“€ Seventh Star
#HeavyMetal #HardRock

40 years ago Black Sabbath from Birmingham, #UK, released their 12th studio album.

Seventh Star came out 3 years after the previous πŸ‘‰ Born Again and was originally intended as the first solo album of guitarist Tony Iommi.
#BlackSabbath in fact did not officially disband, but Iommi put the band on hiatus since at the time he was the only remaining original member.
The record company pushed Iommi to still use the Black Sabbath monicker, that's why the album was published as "Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi".

Despite being negatively recieved by critics and generally poorly reviewed, this is a great album ❀️‍πŸ”₯

In this album:
#TonyIommi β€“ guitars
#GlennHughes β€“ vocals
#EricSinger β€“ drums
#DaveSpitz "The Beast" – bass
#GeoffNicholls β€“ keyboards

Additional musician
#GordonCopley – bass

Helloween
πŸ“€ The Time Of The Oath
#HeavyMetal #PowerMetal

30 years ago Helloween from Hamburg, #Germany, released their 7th studio album.

A concept album based on Nostradamus predictions, The Time Of The Oath was dedicated to the memory of former member and drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg who committed suicide in 1995.
The song "Steel Tormentor" is a tribute to Judas Priest.

Amazing album, one of my favorite Heavy Metal of the 1990s 🀘πŸ”₯

#AndiDeris - vocals

40 years ago King Diamond from
Copenhagen, #Denmark released their debut studio album.

The band was named after vocalist and frontman and formed in 1985 following
πŸ‘‰ Mercyful Fate disbandment.

The album title comes from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, though Fatal Portrait is King Diamond's only record which is not a whole concept album.

Another Heavy Metal milestone from this Danish legend🀘πŸ”₯

Rainbow
πŸ“€ Rising
#HardRock #HeavyMetal

50 years ago Rainbow from
Hertford, England, #UK released their 2nd studio album.

Leader Ritchie Blackmore had dismissed the band that recorded the πŸ‘‰ debut album and hired Hard Rock veterans for this.

Recorded at Giorgio Moroder's Musicland studios in Munich, Rising is unanimously regarded as a landmark album in Heavy Metal history, cited as an influence by virtually every band that came in the following years.

The two final 8-minute suites "Stargazer" and "A Light in the Black" are among the most epic compositions of the genre ❀️‍πŸ”₯

Legendary🀘

Elixir
πŸ“€ The Son Of Odin
#HeavyMetal #PowerMetal

40 years ago Elixir from London, #UK released their debut studio album.

The band was founded in 1983 and is probably the latest New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (#NWOBHM) act to release its debut album.

The Son Of Odin is widely considered not only a hidden gem of that British movement, but one of the best Power Metal albums of the 1980s🀘

#Elixir in this album:
#PaulTaylor – vocals, keyboards

Black Sabbath
πŸ“€ Master Of Reality
#HeavyMetal

55 years ago Black Sabbath from Birmingham, England #UK, released their 3rd studio album.

For this album Iommi and Butler downtuned their instruments, achieving what Iommi called a "bigger, heavier sound"🀘
For this reason Master Of Reality is not only considered a Heavy Metal milestone, also the forefather of #StonerRock / #SludgeMetal.

The album begins with a tape loop of Tony Iommi coughing from a joint he was smoking with Ozzy Osbourne, perfect introduction to the opener "Sweet Leaf", an overt ode to marjuana.

The proto speed metal "After Forever", the anthem "Children Of The Grave", the stunning psychedelic walz "Solitude", the final stoner "Into The Void"...

Essential #BlackSabbath, total masterpiece ❀️‍πŸ”₯

In this album:
#OzzyOsbourne β€“ vocals
#TonyIommi β€“ guitars, synthesiser, flute, piano
#GeezerButler β€“ bass
#BillWard β€“ drums, percussion, sleighbells
