Andrea Palladio, widely considered one of the most influential architects in history, was born in #Padua, at the time under the Republic Of Venice.

The city of #Vicenza, with its 23 buildings designed by #Palladio, and the 24 Palladian Villas of the #Veneto region are listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
In particular the influence of #PalladianVillas design and style can be found all over the world in public buildings and constructions, the most famous example is the US Capitol🇺🇸

Here in Venice we can admire several churches designed and built by #AndreaPalladio, most notably the Church and Refectory of San Giorgio Maggiore island, the Church of Redentore, the Church of Le Zitelle, the façade for the Church of San Francesco della Vigna, the façade for the Basilica of San Pietro di Castello (see 📸☝️).

🍹Few days ago Rino Dondi Pinton from #Padua, #Italy passed away aged 103 🙏

In 1948 this man invented #Cynar, one of the most famous drinks of the past century, based on 12 herbs and above all artichoke.

Used both as digestive "amaro" and aperitif, today you can drink it as a #Spritz here in Venice and Veneto region.

30 years ago Alex Masi from #Venice and Alex De Rosso from #Padua, #Italy released their solo albums (3rd for Masi, debut for De Rosso).

These 2 wonderful guitarists probably had never met at the time (Masi living in Los Angeles and De Rosso in Padua) but they share a membership in the same Venetian band: 👉 Dark Lord !
De Rosso in fact replaced Masi after the latter moved to Los Angeles, and appears in #DarkLord 👉 1988 album.

Same name, same region, same release date and a past in the same band, crazy🤘

👨‍🎨13 September 1506. Andrea Mantegna (above his sculpture portrait☝️) passes away in Mantova.
Born near #Padua, in a place that today is named after him (Isola Mantegna) at the time under the Republic of Venice, #Mantegna was one the most prominent painters and engravers of the early #Renaissance.
Some said he was the only artist able to "sculpt on a painting".
#AndreaMantegna was brother-in-law of another fantastic 👉 Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini.

Mantegna's works are held in the most important Italian and international museums.
In Venice we can admire just 2 of them, those in the pictures above☝️:
San Sebastiano at Museum Franchetti inside the #CaDOro and San Giorgio inside the #AccademiaGalleries.
