Iron Maiden
πŸ“€ The Number Of The Beast
#HeavyMetal

40 years ago #UK Heavy⚑️Metal band Iron Maiden released their 3rd studio album The Number Of The Beast.
It's the band's first work with new vocalist and frontman Bruce Dickinson, who replaced Paul Di'Anno, and their last work with drummer Clive Burr.

The Number Of The Beast was a huge commercial success peaking at n.1 UK charts and entering US Billboard first 20, one of the best selling Heavy Metal albums ever with 20million copies worldwide. It is still today considered by critics and fans one of the all time best albums in Heavy Metal history!

#IronMaiden in this album were:
#BruceDickinson – lead vocals
#DaveMurray – guitars
#AdrianSmith – guitars, backing vocals
#SteveHarris – bass, backing vocals
#CliveBurr – drums

Iron Maiden
πŸ“€ Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
#HeavyMetal #ProgressiveMetal

35 years ago Iron Maiden from London, #UK released their 7th studio album entitled after that Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (in the picture☝️my original MC in #VeniceRocksRoom).

The album was an immediate success, debuting at n.1 in UK charts (first time for the band since their πŸ‘‰ 1982 The Number Of The Beast).

It was the first #IronMaiden album to feature keyboards 🎹 (played by "whoever had a finger free" as the band stated), their first and only concept album, in which frontman Bruce Dickinson had a primary songwriting role and their last with guitarist Adrian Smith who left after the promotional world tour to return in the band 10 years later.

In this album:
#BruceDickinson – vocals
#DaveMurray – guitars
#AdrianSmith – guitars, synthesizer
#SteveHarris – bass, string synthesizer
#NickoMcBrain – drums

Iron Maiden
πŸ“€ Piece Of Mind
#HeavyMetal

40 years ago Iron Maiden from London, #UK released their 4th album (my very first Maiden and possibly my first Heavy Metal ❀️‍πŸ”₯, in the picture☝️my original MC in #VeniceRocksRoom).

Piece Of Mind was the first #IronMaiden album to feature Nicko McBrain on drums and contains standards such as "Where Eagles Dare", "Flight of Icarus", "The Trooper".

Like its 1982 predecessor, Piece Of Mind was a critical and commercial success: after πŸ‘‰ The Number Of The Beast Iron Maiden were accused to be satanic, the band was getting tired of that and decided to include a joke phrase before the song "Still Life" that could only be understood playing the record backwards, the purpose was of course to raise more controversies and have a laugh.

Still today my favorite!

In this album:
#BruceDickinson – vocals
#DaveMurray – guitars
#AdrianSmith – guitars
#SteveHarris – bass
#NickoMcBrain – drums
#16May

Iron Maiden
πŸ“€ Powerslave
#HeavyMetal

40 years ago Iron Maiden from London, #UK released their 5th studio album.

Powerslave is an absolute Heavy Metal milestone (in #VeniceRocksRoom my oringinal cassette☝️) and probably the most important album in #IronMaiden career.

The promotional World Slavery Tour that followed the album release and produced their 1985 legendary Live After Death, is one of the most extensive and long-lasting in Heavy Metal history and gained the band an unprecedented worldwide success and an undisputed leading role in the genre.

In Powerslave the band proposes again hints of #ProgressiveMetal which first appeared with "To Tame A Land", the last track of πŸ‘‰ their previous album.
The titletrack and the 13 minutes final suite "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" (based on the 1797 Coleridge's poem) are clear examples of that.

Powerslave contains the 2 singles and #IronMaiden signature songs "Aces High" and "2 Minutes To Midnight", the both usually open their concerts.
"Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)" is the only Iron Maiden intrumental track in the "Bruce Dickinson era".
"Flash Of The Blade" was included in the soundtrack of Dario Argento's 1985 horror movie Phenomena.
