🎼11 March 1983. Quiet Riot release their 3rd album Metal Health ! 😈 At first sight this event doesn't mean much, but Metal Health is the album that brings Heavy⚡️Metal music genre (of course my favorite 😉🤟🎸) out of its niche and to general attention. The first single extracted from this album "Cum On Feel the Noize" (a 1973 #Slade cover) goes straight to n.5 in US charts, and the whole album will be the first heavy metal ever to reach the top on the Billboard 200 that year! The only member of that band still alive is bassist #RudySarzo (I use to hang around with a guy who personally knows him very well), all other members have left this world, #drummer #FrankieBanali only few months ago 😢🤷‍♂️
I chose the title track Metal Health (Bang Your Head), an iconic one for all time metalheads !!! This song had big success again in 2008, as part of the Soundtrack of multi award-winning film The Wrestler with Mikey Rourke. 🎼20 April 1967. Happy Birthday 🥳🍾to Mr. Mike Portnoy, born Michael Stephen Portnoy in Long Beach. New York, USA.
He's one of the best drummers 🥁 in the heavy progressive metal scene (and perhaps not just in that) and a legendary musician if you take a look at the infinite list of bands and projects in which he is involved 😳 as a #drummer, songwriter, lyricist and occasional vocalist.
After founding and playing for 25 years in the most important progressive metal band, #DreamTheater, he is currently member of Neal Morse Band and supergroups such as Flying Colors, Transatlantic, The Winery Dogs, Liquid Tension Experiment, Metal Allegiance and Sons of Apollo... plus past bands like #AdrenalineMob, #AvengedSevenfold and guest playing in uncountable albums.
I share his last drum cam playthrough from his youtube channel: I can't play drums so I just watched in religious silence🙏🏻without understanding what he does 😳... but I'm surprised by some fellow drummers' comments who don't quite get it either 😱😉

The first Heavy Metal song I've ever listened was introduced by his amazing drumming which immediately blew me away when I first put the "Piece of Mind" Mc in the oldest cassette recorder ever in my room 😱

🎼29 June 1948. Happy Birthday 🥳🍾 to Mr. Ian Paice, "The Chief", a living drumming 🥁 legend, born Ian Anderson Paice in Notthingham, England.
Drummer for Deep Purple for a lifetime and the only original member of the band (since 1968!!!), Paice is widely regarded as one of the best drummers in history! 🙌🔝
Despite that Ian has always been a down to earth guy, I met him few times here in Venice, he used to come down in the area every summer and play concerts with local musicians and #DeepPurple cover bands. Considered one of the best hard rock drummers, Jason is the son of John #Bonham (longtime #drummer for Led Zeppelin until his tragic death in 1980), considered by many only the best drummer in rock history! After John's death #LedZeppelin promised not to reunite anymore and his son Jason has been for years the only hope for fans that the band would break their promise and reunite one day... but it never happened! 🤷‍♂

Hard Rock and Heavy Metal singer and songwriter for 5 decades, #SammyHagar first fronted seminal band Montrose in the 70s, later started a succesful solo career and in 1985 joined Van Halen replacing the departed singer #DavidLeeRoth.
Hagar is also a member of supergroup Chickenfoot along with #guitarist master #JoeSatriani, #RHCP #drummer Chad Smith and Van Halen #bassist Michael Anthony, and leader of Sammy Hagar and The Circle. In 1990s he also became an enterpreneur having founded and owning the Cabo Wabo tequila brand and restaurant chain 🥃👍

He is rated among the 50 best hard rock and heavy metal guitarists and his career spans through 4 decades: he started as member of Los Angeles Heavy⚡️Metal band Racer X in the 1980s, his career had a boost in 1988 when he joined #bassist monster #BillySheehan, #vocalist #EricMartin and #drummer #PatTorpey to found the supergroup Mr. Big, destined to become one of the most famous and acclaimed hard rock bands of the early 1990s ! 🤟👏
#PaulGilbert has also released 16 solo albums to date and... I know he likes to come to Venice whenever he can 😉

🎼7 November 1981. 40 years ago Ozzy Osbourne released his second studio album which will gain him forever the nickname "Madman" within the Heavy⚡️Metal scene. The album is in fact entitled Diary of a Madman 👹
It's the last studio album featuring legendary #guitarist and Ozzy's friend Randy Rhoads who would leave this world few months later 😔
As for many episodes in #OzzyOsbourne career and life, this album raised endless controversies and lawsuits, because most of the musicians involved remained uncredited, thus not getting payed and not earning any royalies for their work 🤦‍♂

It's a gem of Progressive Rock and it's their first album with 2 new members who would become 2 rock giants 🤟: I'm talking about #guitarist 🎸 Steve Hackett and #drummer 🥁Phil Collins, who few years later would become the band's #vocalist🎙in substitution of the departed #PeterGabriel (another giant, is him? 😉).

#ELO formed from the ashes of #TheMove, a succesful end 60s English psychedelic rock band, thanks to the 3 original founders, songwriters and multi instrumentalists #JeffLynne and #RoyWood and #drummer #BevBevan. Their music style is a distinctive Progressive Rock mixed with Classic Rock and a fusion of 
Beatlesque pop,

futuristic iconography.
ELO would define themselves as Baroque-n-Roll 😳 and would score many hits throughout their career in the 70s and 80s: they are still active today! 🤟
