♥️ #MidweekRockBallad
I was meant to share a great one from 50 years ago, 1971... but then I realized tomorrow is the 74th birthday of Sir Elton John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on 25 March 1947 in Pinner, Middlesex, England. Therefore I chose one of my favorite of his and on the same year 1971... ok, it's not purely rock 😉... but this guy well deserves a place in music history! And in Venice too, since he owns a house on #Giudecca island for ages 😃🔝 #EltonJohn #25March

50 years ago Deep Purple from London #UK, released their 6th studio album Machine Head.
The album went straight to n.1 in UK charts and had an immediate success in many other countries, confirming #DeepPurple as the leading band in the contemporary Hard Rock / Heavy Metal scene.
Machine Head contains many band's standards such as "Highway Star", "Lazy", "Never Before", "Space Truckin'", but it's the presence of "Smoke On The Water" (probably the most famous and identifiable guitar riff in rock history!!!) which made this album one of the best selling Hard Rock ever!
Deep Purple here:
#RitchieBlackmore – guitar
#IanGillan – vocals, harmonica
#RogerGlover – bass
#JonLord – keyboards, Hammond organ
#IanPaice – drums, percussion

RIP Taylor Hawkins, #FooFighters #drummer.
He just turned 50 last February, and the band just released yesterday a new album under the name of Dream Widow...
