#HeavyMetal #EpicMetal #ProgressiveMetal
35 years ago Dark Quarterer, probably the oldest Heavy Metal band in #Italy (founded in 1974 in Piombino, #Tuscany), released their eponymous debut album.
Dark Quarterer is undoubtedly the first Italian Progressive Metal record and one of the first European Epic Metal (genre born in early 80s in the USA that can be defined as Power Metal with epic mythological lyrics): the rough production of the time somehow increases the epic atmosphere of the 6 tracks, and the whole album is considered a true hidden gem by Heavy Metal fans and critics.
#DarkQuarterer line-up on this album is:
Gianni Nepi - Bass, Vocals
Paolo "Nipa" Ninci - Drums
Fulberto Serena - Guitars

40 years ago Iron Maiden from London, #UK released their 5th studio album.
Powerslave is an absolute Heavy Metal milestone (in #VeniceRocksRoom my oringinal cassetteβοΈ) and probably the most important album in #IronMaiden career.
The promotional World Slavery Tour that followed the album release and produced their 1985 legendary Live After Death, is one of the most extensive and long-lasting in Heavy Metal history and gained the band an unprecedented worldwide success and an undisputed leading role in the genre.
In Powerslave the band proposes again hints of #ProgressiveMetal which first appeared with "To Tame A Land", the last track of π their previous album.
The titletrack and the 13 minutes final suite "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" (based on the 1797 Coleridge's poem) are clear examples of that.
