Death Doom subgenre was very popular in the Heavy Metal scene of those years, thanks to bands such as
👉 Paradise Lost, 👉 My Dying Bride, 👉 Anathema,
👉 Asphyx...
I remember choosing my favorite of the genre after listening to this album: #Katatonia🤘probably because their sound contained elements of both Black Metal and Progressive Metal.

30 years ago Necromass, obscure underground band from #Florence, #Italy, released their 2nd studio album.
Their 👉 1994 debut, today considered an absolute Black Metal gem with possibly the most blasphemous lyrics, ended with a clean vocal semi-ballad, Death SS style (coming from Florence, surely one of their biggest influences).
In Abyss Calls Life #Necromass seem to pursue the evolution of sound started with that song, even delievering Progressive tracks like "Bloodstorm Collide", "A Serpent Is Screaming in the Abyss", with frontman Blasphemy now performing #DeathMetal vocals all through, alternating whispers and rare clean.
