40 years ago an obscure rock band from #Venice, #Italy called Death In Venice released their self-produced debut album.

The young Venetian band was put up by the 2 brothers Russo, highly influenced by the early 1980s Dark Wave scene: they took the band's name after the film
👉 Death In Venice and the album's title played on the atmosphere of that movie... which is pure decadence in fact!

Deca Dance was issued only in cassette and became a rare collectible, the band itself remained underground throughout its lifetime:
👉 Contempo Records label in #Florence signed the band in 1985 and released their following albums.

35 years ago, just before Christmas, Death SS from #LeMarche, #Italy released their debut studio album.

#DeathSS were reformed in #Tuscany by founder and leader Steve Sylvester 4 years after the original band split up, and 1 year after their only official release, the compilation 👉 The Story Of Death SS 1977-1984.

All new musicians came from #Florence area, some from seminal Heavy Metal band Sabotage, and adopted English stage names and personas.

Most of the songs are re-recordings of Death SS classics, "I Love The Dead" is an #AliceCooper cover.

Total commitment, total devotion, legendary🤘

The Vasari Corridor (Corridoio Vasariano) is an elevated path in Florence built in 1565: it connects Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti, passing above the Uffizi Gallery and crossing the Arno river above the Ponte Vecchio.

40 years ago Litfiba from #Florence, #Italy released their debut studio album.

After years spent in the 👉 Italian Rock underground scene and the collaboration with 👉 Diaframma few months earlier, Litfiba were able to build a strong fanbase.

Desaparecido was published by I.R.A. Records and immediately became a cult release. It's the first of 3 chapters (albums) of what #Litfiba called "Trilogia Del Potere".

Irregardless of the genre, a Must for every Italian Rocker ❤️‍🔥

30 years ago Necromass, obscure underground band from #Florence, #Italy, released their 2nd studio album.

Their 👉 1994 debut, today considered an absolute Black Metal gem with possibly the most blasphemous lyrics, ended with a clean vocal semi-ballad, Death SS style (coming from Florence, surely one of their biggest influences).

In Abyss Calls Life #Necromass seem to pursue the evolution of sound started with that song, even delievering Progressive tracks like "Bloodstorm Collide", "A Serpent Is Screaming in the Abyss", with frontman Blasphemy now performing #DeathMetal vocals all through, alternating whispers and rare clean.
