Candlemass
📀 Nightfall
#DoomMetal #EpicMetal

35 years ago Candlemass from Stockholm, #Sweden released their 2nd studio album entitled Nightfall.

In this album #Candlemass changed formation with new vocalist, guitarist and drummer.

Personal note. I bought Nightfall when it came out, after reading a review on the Italian H⚡️M Magazine which ended like: "All Heavy Metal fans must buy this album, it's legend"... and it is!

The whole work still gives me shivers after all those years, mainly thanks to band's mastermind Leif Edling superb songwriting and riffing and the operatic frightening vocals of Messiah Marcolin from #Murano, Venice (his father actually)🤘

The closest thing ever to Black Sabbath debut album, legendary and a must listen!

Candlemass in this album:
#MessiahMarcolin – vocals
#LarsJohansson – lead guitar
#MatsBjörkman – rhythm guitar
#LeifEdling – bass
#JanLindh – drums

Additional musicians
#MikeWead – guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards

35 years ago, just before Christmas, Death SS from #LeMarche, #Italy released their debut studio album.

#DeathSS were reformed in #Tuscany by founder and leader Steve Sylvester 4 years after the original band split up, and 1 year after their only official release, the compilation 👉 The Story Of Death SS 1977-1984.

All new musicians came from #Florence area, some from seminal Heavy Metal band Sabotage, and adopted English stage names and personas.

Most of the songs are re-recordings of Death SS classics, "I Love The Dead" is an #AliceCooper cover.

Total commitment, total devotion, legendary🤘

In this album:
#SteveSylvester "The Vampire" - vocals

Acid Bath
📀 When The Kite String Pops
#SludgeMetal #GrooveMetal #StonerMetal #DoomMetal #SouthernMetal #DeathMetal

40 years ago Acid Bath from Louisiana, #USA released their debut studio album.

When The Kite String Pops was released indipendently and had no promotion.
It remained an underground album also due to the fact that #AcidBath split in 1997 following the death of bassist Audie Pitre.

In the years this has become a cult album, considered as a Sludge Metal milestone, but possibly every heavy sound we heard in the last 30 years is in here 🔥

Acid Bath announced the reunion few months ago and I can't wait to see them live🤘

In this album:
#DaxRiggs – vocals
#MikeSanchez – guitar
#SammyPierreDuet – backing vocals, guitar
#AudiePitre – backing vocals, bass
#JimmyKyle – drums, percussion
#8August

Saint Vitus

Die Healing saw the band reunite with the original lineup, and it's the last #SaintVitus before disbanding in 1996, they would come back in 2008.

If 👉 Candlemass - Nightfall is my favorite 1980s Doom Metal, this album is my favorite 1990s🤘

Majestically wicked 😈

In this album:
#ScottReagers - vocals
#DaveChandler - guitar, vocals on "Just Another Notch"

Paul Chain
📀 Alkahest
#DoomMetal

30 years ago Paul Chain from #Pesaro, #LeMarche, #Italy released his 6th solo album.

The first 5 songs feature Chain on lead vocals with his usual lyrics in phonetic language resemblant to English.
For the last 4 songs Chain called Lee Dorrian of Cathedral, who also wrote the lyrics, included the re-recording of "Voyage To Hell" originally in 👉 Paul Chain 1984 EP.

The final result is amazing, I'm sure this album is almost totally unknown ❤️‍🔥
Alkahest is up there in my top 3 Doom Metal ever, along with
👉 Candlemass - Nightfall and
👉 Saint Vitus - Die Healing.

Epic 😈

In this album:
#PaulChain – vocals, guitar, organ, producer

Type O Negative
📀 October Rust
#GothicMetal #DoomMetal #GothicRock #EtherealWave

30 years ago Type O Negative from New York, #USA released their 3rd studio album.

October Rust is widely regarded as #TypeONegative masterpiece, made of atmospheric doomy songs, mainly ballads reflecting band leader Peter Steele state of mind at the time: depression, deception, romanticism, heartache, alcoholism, always downplayed with his dark humor.

The album contains a cover of #NeilYoung "Cinnamon Girl".

Gothic at its best 🔥

In this album:
#PeterSteele – lead vocals, bass guitar
#KennyHickey – backing vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar
