🎼15 November 1986. 35 years ago American Rap Rock group Beastie Boys released their debut studio album Licensed to Ill. It was an immediate revolution for the entire contemporary #MusicHistory! 😱🤟
The album soon hit the USA charts, thus bringing Hip Hop & Rap genres out of their niche and to general attention. Hip Hop acts like #RunDMC, #PublicEnemy, #LLCoolJ (all of which contributed to define the genre and were later labeled as Old School Rap) were already around; #NWA, the band of #IceCube and #DrDre, would come 2 years later bringing Rap to a different level, from the initial fun and party music to the violence of racial conflicts, police hatred and street gangster (later called in fact Gansta Rap), but it was thanks to this trio of white irriverent guys that Rap music became popular worldwide!
And this was also due to Russell Simmons flair 👍: he was the manager of Def Jam recordings, legendary New York City record label that in 1980s specialized in urban rebel music. #DefJam at the time signed both Beastie Boys and popular Heavy⚡️Metal band #Slayer, who were the masters of the recently born Thrash Metal scene: Simmons called their #guitarist 🎸#KerryKing, to perform the solo 🎶 in Beastie Boys' single and rock video parody "No Sleep Till Brooklin"👇
The song became a standard along with "Fight For Your Right" (see today's #TheMondayRecharger☝️) and still today both are so popular and acclaimed among rockers all over the world, since they are often played as last background tracks just before a Heavy Metal concert begins🤟😈🔥
"Licensed to Ill" became the fastest selling record to date, it sold nearly 10 millions in few months 😳 and #BeastieBoys became equally appreciated by both new born Rap scene followers and Rock fans ! #15November

Slayer
📀 South Of Heaven
#ThrashMetal

35 years ago Slayer from Huntington Park, Los Angeles, #USA released their 4th studio album.

In South Of Heaven #Slayer deliberately slowed down tempos and vocals as compared to their previous albums, thus surprising and disappointing some of their fans.
This is a killer album anyway and one of my favorite from them, my original cassette still hits hard in #VeniceRocksRoom 🔥☝️

This album contains a #JudasPriest cover, "Dissident Aggressor".

In this album:
#TomAraya – bass, vocals
#KerryKing – guitars
#JeffHanneman – guitars
#DaveLombardo – drums

Slayer
📀 Show No Mercy
#ThrashMetal #SpeedMetal

40 years ago Slayer from Los Angeles, #USA, released their debut studio album.

Show No Mercy was self-financed by the band and published through Metal Blade Records, becoming soon the highest selling album for this legendary label.

Aggressive riffs, evil lyrics, frightening screams, unprecedented violence! #Slayer shaped Extreme Metal like no others🤘😈

My original vinyl still plays loud and evil in #VeniceRocksRoom☝️

In this album:
#TomAraya – bass, vocals
#KerryKing – guitar
#JeffHanneman – guitar
#DaveLombardo – drums

Guest
#GeneHoglan - backing vocals on "Evil Has No Boundaries"

Slayer
📀 Divine Intervention
#ThrashMetal

30 years ago Slayer from Huntington Park, Los Angeles, #USA released their 6th studio album.

Divine Intervention (my original LP in #VeniceRocksRoom☝️) is the band's first album to feature Paul Bostaph, replacing original drummer Dave Lombardo who left in 1992.

In a period where many Thrash/Death Metal bands moved their sound towards Groove and Grunge, Slayer just sounded like... #Slayer🤘

In this album:
#TomAraya – bass, vocals
#KerryKing – guitars
#JeffHanneman – guitars
#PaulBostaph – drums
#27September
