Engineer #GhadaAlShaarani stated:
“Engineer #GhadaAlShaarani stated that with the escalation of #violations, thousands of families were forced to flee from the western and southern countryside villages toward the city of #Suwayda, escaping #shelling, #fires, and #looting. However, this #displacement occurred under catastrophic conditions, as families left without taking any #food supplies or even a single grain of #wheat after #silos and #storage facilities were burned and properties looted.
She explained that this sudden #displacement “worsened the situation inside the city, which has become unable to provide #food or #shelter for the displaced. It is well known that #villagers store enough provisions for an entire year, but these groups burned them, further increasing pressure on the city.”
She also highlighted the direct #violations against the #NationalHospital in #Suwayda, which included “#shelling with #mortars and #heavyweapons, killing several #patients, the injured, and #medicalstaff, and the accumulation of #corpses due to #morgue refrigerators being out of service after the #poweroutage—leading to decomposition and the spread of foul odors, raising fears of #epidemics.”
She confirmed that #hospitals in #Shahba and #Salkhad have also been severely affected amid an acute shortage of #medicine and #medicalsupplies caused by the #blockade on aid from #Damascus, warning of the severe consequences of the #economic blockade.
Additionally, she pointed out that “the #blockade on #fuel and #essentialgoods has paralyzed #waterpumps, caused #waterscarcity in homes and public facilities, crippled #communications to the point that even family members lose contact with each other, disrupted #transportation and #fooddistribution, and collapsed the operational capacity of #hospitals and #bakeries.”

Ballard’s visit to #Suwayda comes at a time when the province is enduring severe #Humanitarian and #EconomicHardships, symbolizing a gesture of #Solidarity between #InternationalActivists and #LocalReligiousLeaders. His presence reflects the #Unity of the #HumanCause among the mountain’s diverse communities and underscores Suwayda’s message of #Dignity, #Freedom, and #Peace.
Ballard personally visited sites of destruction, witnessed locations of massacres, listened to eyewitness testimonies, and visited burned and demolished homes, learning firsthand the stories of the kidnapped and displaced.
This visit takes place as Suwayda continues to suffer under a harsh #Blockade, deprived of #Food, #Medicine, and #Electricity, simply because its people reject #Terrorism and demand #Freedom and #Democracy for all Syrians.
#Humanity is one — it cannot be divided or defined by color or faith.
During his visit, Ballard met with Father #TonyBoutros and Father #NicolasWaqas, representatives of the #MelkiteGreekCatholic and #GreekOrthodox Churches in the province.
The meeting was marked by an atmosphere of #Love and #NationalUnity, as the two priests delivered a deeply moving message reflecting the strong #BondsOfBrotherhood among Suwayda’s communities:
“In #Suwayda, there is no difference between #Christian and #Druze; we were one family in times of peace, and today we remain one family in adversity.
Christ taught us that whoever serves our smallest brothers and sisters serves #Christ Himself.
We are the children of this land, united by #Love, #Knowledge, and #Freedom. We reject #Violence and call for #RespectForHumanLife.
Peace cannot be made with #Criminals, nor should nations be weighed on the scales of #PoliticalInterests.
And since President #Trump calls for peace in the world today, we remind him that true peace can only be achieved with the free.
We thank you for your #Humility and #Compassion, and we ask for God’s blessing upon you — in the name of the #Father, the #Son, and the #HolySpirit.”
It is worth noting that #TimothyBallard previously served in the #USDHS (#DepartmentOfHomelandSecurity) and founded #OperationUndergroundRailroad in 2013, which has conducted numerous #FieldMissions to rescue #Children and #Women from human trafficking networks.
His story inspired the acclaimed film #SoundOfFreedom, which gained #GlobalRecognition in 2023.
Today, Ballard stands as one of the most prominent defenders of #HumanValues in the #UnitedStates and beyond, dedicating his life to protecting the #Oppressed and advocating for #Moral and #HumanitarianCauses.
