Good news: #Kerala’s idli-sambar tastes exactly the same as before Covid. Bad news: the bill that comes with it has turned bitter. This popular breakfast dish has quietly become a telling casualty of post-pandemic inflation.

An analysis based on an official report shows that ingredients for a standard home serving — 20 idlis with traditional sambar, enough for four to five people — that cost Rs 105 in 2015, and barely moved to Rs 107 by 2019, now costs Rs 145.

A noticeable rise in #snakebite incidents has been reported across #Kerala since the onset of summer, with six deaths recorded as of April 28.

While the numbers have sparked concern, experts emphasise that this seasonal increase is not unusual and is largely driven by three major factors – heat, hatching season, and the search for food.

Unhygienic conditions in trains a concern? It is this very thought that spurred four friends from #Kerala to introduce a box of essentials which promises to revolutionise travel in the country.

India’s first rail hygiene kit—the brainchild of Mizhab K, Mohammed Nihad, Abhishek Roopesh, and Suhail V, and unveiled as part of their firm Travel Essentia—contains toothbrush, toothpaste, wet wipes, wet towels, paper soap, sanitiser sachets, toilet seat covers, cutlery kit, face mask, and a cotton pouch.

The kit is available for purchase on their website, with delivery anywhere in the state taking up to two days.

Every election in India has had a story to tell and at the heart of every story is the average Indian voter; an enigma to many. The story of the just concluded Assembly elections to the four states—#WestBengal, #Assam, #TamilNadu & #Kerala—and the UT of #Puducherry is no different.

The only twist in the tale this time, for the Indian voter, was the fact that this election was more of a question of proving one’s existential identity than a democratic exercise.

One of the first decisions taken by #Kerala Chief Minister-designate #VDSatheesan after being named to the post was to restrict his convoy to the minimum number of vehicles, a move that marks a sharp contrast with the large motorcade used by his predecessor, which had drawn criticism from several quarters.

“So, I have asked the police to provide the minimum possible security convoy. As few vehicles as possible. The very minimum. I have also asked them not to trouble people on the road when I am travelling,” Satheesan said.

#OPINION | In many ways, #Kerala is a laboratory of India’s demographic future. The problems Kerala experiences today—eldercare, dementia, loneliness, shrinking family support systems and long-term care—are likely to become major national concerns in the coming decades.

A miscalculated impact of raids on former #Kerala Chief Minister #PinarayiVijayan?

“However, what they failed to realise is that, in times of attack against the party and its leadership, the #CPM naturally functions as a united force.”

After #LDF's crushing defeat in the recent assembly elections, the CPM was grappling with internal discontent, with criticism indirectly directed at Pinarayi Vijayan during election review meetings at lower committees.

However, the raids on the former CM's houses have transformed him from a poll villain into a rallying point for the CPM. Take a look on how all this happened:

On National Doctor's Day, India celebrates the doctors who dedicate their lives to saving others. But behind the appreciation is a question that deserves attention, are India's doctors being paid fairly?

Across states like #Jharkhand, #Bihar, #Punjab and #Kerala, junior doctors have protested over low pay, delayed stipend revisions, long working hours and poor compensation. In this video, we examine the growing concerns around doctor salaries, resident doctor stipends, inflation, workload and why many young doctors say the system is failing them.

Is gratitude enough, or is it time for meaningful reforms in doctors' pay and working conditions?

#OPINION | #Kerala’s shift from anti-bourgeois rhetoric to embracing entrepreneurship can be reflected in changing plotlines. While red tape thwarts a small business in 1989 film Varavelpu, a modern-day idea in 2025’s Hridayapoorvam finds expression. Land-starved #Taiwan can teach the state a lesson in making do with less.
