Hard on the heels of his most recent ‘provocations’, Thiruvananthapuram MP #ShashiTharoor is losing the support of #UDF partners, many of whom had stood with him in times of crisis.

Referring to Tharoor attending a luncheon hosted by the Israeli ambassador to India, IUML general secretary P M A Salam said the #Congress party has no control over Tharoor.

“Tharoor has been doing things without the knowledge of the Congress leadership. The Muslim League has serious reservations about some of his actions. This has been continuing for some time. It is the Congress that has to take a call on how to deal with it,” Salam added.

"Male supremacy is the cornerstone of all political parties and we are not surprised by their decision to deny tickets to women this time"

If major political parties walked the talk on the 33 percent women's reservation, then #Kerala would get 47 women lawmakers in the 2026 assembly.

The hopes seem to be unrealistic as the top three political coalitions in the state - the #LDF headed by Communist Party of India (Marxist), the #UDF led by #Congress and the #NDA led by #BharatiyaJanataParty - have jointly fielded only 39 women candidates. Only a handful of them stand a chance of emerging victorious.

#Kerala | When #LDF candidate U Prathibha was recently forced to respond to a #UDF leader’s sexually derogatory remark during her Kayamkulam campaign, the moment cut sharply through the usual buzz of electioneering.

It was not just a rebuttal. It was a confrontation with a kind of politics that deviates from political issues and trespasses into personal space. What followed was not confined to one candidate or one constituency.

Similar accounts began surfacing — of women candidates navigating coordinated online abuse, public insults, and persistent attempts to undermine their credibility through character attacks rather than political critique.

#KeralaElections | Close to four decades after his death, the memories of volleyball icon hashtag#JimmyGeorge continue to reverberate in the hills of hashtag#Kerala's Peravoor, which is now witness to a clash of titans. Little wonder that hashtag#CPM's star candidate KK Shailaja promised a National Sports Academy here, while KPCC president and hashtag#UDF candidate Sunny Joseph chose to blame ten years of Pinarayi rule for the delay in completion of the stadium.

The #UDF has raised allegations of possible irregularities after a room near the strongroom storing important documents related to the assembly election in #Kozhikode was opened, prompting concerns over election integrity.

Election authorities, however, clarified that the strongroom was not opened and that the issue relates to a routine procedure involving polling materials.

With the battle for the chief minister post intensifying within the #Congress-led #UDF, the #IUML has decisively thrown its weight behind #VDSatheesan, signalling that the party is unwilling to compromise on what it sees as the “people’s mandate” behind the alliance’s sweeping electoral victory.

“The Congress and the UDF as a whole must take into account the public sentiment before arriving at a decision on the chief ministership. Our state president Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal had made the party’s position clear much earlier. We are not a party that changes its stand every minute depending on political pressure. The same position has been communicated to the AICC observers as well,” IUML state general secretary P M A Salam said.

In this interview, Prabhu Chawla speaks with BJP leader V. Muraleedharan regarding the party's electoral roadmap in Kerala. Muraleedharan projects a ten-year timeline to secure power, emphasizing that success hinges on expanding their coalition beyond the Hindu base to include Christian and Muslim voters. He also notes the strategic necessity of drawing supporters from Congress and Communist ranks, particularly within OBC and SC communities, pointing to recent vote share gains as a solid foundation.
