βΊ The USD gave back part of its strength last week, marking its weakest weekly performance since the final week of April. Last week's weaker-than-expected labor market reports (both ADP and NFP), which suggested that the US labor market is cooling somewhat, reduced market expectations for further Fed rate hikes. At the same time, we are seeing lower US Treasury yields today, which also indicates that the market is currently pricing in fewer additional rate hikes (UK Gilt yields and other European government bond yields are also trading lower).
βΊ Lower oil prices are removing another important source of support for the US dollar.
βΊ Inflation in the UK edged up slightly to 2.8% in the latest reading (May), but after the downtrend since last summer (September 2025), it remains only moderately above target. UK inflation is significantly lower than in the US, and the overall economic backdrop argues against further rate hikes - especially now that oil prices have fallen sharply again. In our view, swap markets remain too hawkish in their expectations for the Bank of England. I believe a UK rate hike - at least this year - is highly unlikely.
βΊ GBP/USD attempted several times to break above the 1.34000 level but failed. We see a double-top formation just below that level, signaling resistance, and continue to expect some additional cooling from current levels ahead of the release of the Fed meeting minutes on Wednesday.
βΊ We traded the oversold USD very successfully last week. Our EUR/USD position already hit TPβ

Our positioning is currently very strong as we are LONG in the sector that is by far posting the strongest gains today. Chip stocks are rebounding sharply after the heavy losses at the end of last week.
πΉ Nasdaq 100 (+1.2%) - is very sharply higher vs. Thursday and trading near Friday highs when tech stocks already received a boost also from strong gains in tech stocks in Korea / Japan. We saw now a bit of profit taking in late pre-market trading but see more rebound potential. We update our TP slightly.
π TP
πΉ Micron (+3.2%) - is opening sharply higher. We will see likely some hovering around the $1,000 following but generally dip buying after last week's correction that we have bought. MU was already up more than 4% in early pre-market trading but is opening a little less strong now with some profit taking in late pre-market trading. Citi sees more upside for MU. We keep our current TP for now TP (
πΉ NVDA (0.0%) - has plenty of upside in all time-frames including in the short-term. Bernstein recommends to "overweight" NVDA and see still very material upside stating that the datacenter opportunity remains enormous and still in the early phase. We remain LONG and expect gains this week / later this month. News that its next marquee product, the Kyber rack-scale architecture designed to house its 2027 Rubin Ultra chips, has been delayed by more than 12 months to 2028 is a bit of headwinds and the reason NVDA opens less positively than other chip stocks.
πΉ TSMC (+2.9%) - is opening sharply higher and may trigger our TP (
π
βΊ While Wall Street - and particularly the Nasdaq - is seeing strong rebound gains following Thursday's sharp sell-off, overall market breadth remains relatively weak. Today's gains are concentrated mainly in technology, AI, and semiconductor stocks - the same stocks that weighed heavily on Wall Street last week. We bought the sharp dip.
βΊ We continue to look for attractive entries in some of last week's laggards. We particularly like AMD in the semiconductor space (opening about 3% higher; boosted also from Goldman Sachs which raised PT sharply from $450 to $640). We also continue to see rebound potential in MSFT, although it is opening more than 1% lower and is likely to experience some additional selling pressure. Continued strength in semiconductor stocks is likely to result in temporary underperformance of software companies (including MSFT) and especially defensive sectors.

βΊ AMD would have been one of the strongest - if not the best - NYSE opening trades today. I simply couldn't finish my analysis quickly enough for us to trade the additional upside together - although I still see significant upside from here. I should have just told you to buy. AMD continues to benefit from exceptionally strong demand for server CPUs as AI infrastructure investment keeps accelerating.
βΊ We initially saw the Dow Jones rally following recent underperformance, driven mainly by strong gains in Goldman Sachs (GS) and Caterpillar (CAT). At the same time, however, heavyweights such as UNH, MSFT, AMGN, HD, and Visa (V), together with weakness in defensive sectors (caused by the sharp rally in semiconductor stocks), continue to weigh on the index. We therefore expect the Dow to underperform the more technology-heavy S&P 500 and especially the Nasdaq. Nevertheless, we can buy the current pullback after the strong gains at the NYSE open. The Dow is currently trading slightly in the red, while the Nasdaq is up more than 1.2%.
βΊ MU is hovering around the $1,000 level as expected. TSM has already reached our TP (I closed minimally higher πΈ; if you are still LONG, you can close significantly - probably even in the 457 - 460 range). NVDA has also turned positive again and is currently trading around +0.6%.

βΊ The very strong rotation back into semiconductor stocks is weighing somewhat on other sectors today as well as on software stocks and hyperscalers. While we also like MSFT at current levels, we currently see greater demand potential in GOOGL, which is trading slightly lower (currently around -0.45% for GOOGL and -0.35% for GOOG).
βΊ AVGO is among today's top performers. The TPUs developed jointly with Alphabet continue to receive positive feedback from analysts, who also believe Google's TPU roadmap (developed in partnership with Broadcom) remains fully on track.
βΊ Despite very strong fundamentals, GOOGL as a hyperscaler has been trading sideways for an extended period, with investors remaining concerned about the company's high AI infrastructure spending.
βΊ Overall, we continue to see further short-term upside for GOOGL from current levels (of course very significant upside potential longer-term).

βΊ Following the very strong gains in semiconductor stocks, we are now seeing some initial profit taking, but also early signs of stabilization. We do not expect panic selling today.
βΊ We are buying MSFT here and see rebound potential with the stock currently trading about 1.5% lower on the day.
βΊ News that Microsoft plans to cut approximately 4,800 jobs (just over 2% of its global workforce) as part of a broader restructuring has added some pressure to the stock. In reality, this is not necessarily negative news, especially since the affected business units generate below-average margins. Investors also remain concerned about Microsoft's very high CAPEX spending and its ongoing restructuring efforts.
βΊ MSFT is currently down around 23% year-over-year and approximately 20.5% year-to-date, making the stock particularly attractive from a longer-term perspective.

βΊ MSFT is still down more than 1% for today and has rebound potential. News regarding layoffs as well as concerns about high CAPEX that may turn out to be even bigger than expected weighed on the software giant that has posted a poor performance this year / YoY. The past few trading sessions have been truly outstanding
In particular, we bought the dips in the indices exceptionally well while completely avoiding being caught in the sharp and many profit-taking waves - especially the last very sharp one on Thursday. That's quite remarkable. Instead, we were able to close numerous positions from Thursday in profit today after successfully trading against the market's oversold conditions.
We have now won 17 consecutive index trades
We are tightening our TP
We need to avoid building up too much exposure. In the current market, it is important to remain flexible and be able to react instead of getting caught on the wrong side of the next swing or trend reversal. Today, we successfully reduced our exposure significantly (closing 7 positions - all in profit) while at the same time finding several excellent new entries.
Congratulations!

βΊ Today we are once again seeing a rotation in the opposite direction, with yesterday's top performers - semiconductor stocks - weighing on Wall Street. These swings have become the new normal. Strong rallies have repeatedly been followed by equally sharp profit taking - often in a two-day rhythm - and this time is no different. The latest move was again triggered in Asia, this time by Samsung's earnings report. Samsung Electronics shares came under pressure as concerns about future demand amid extremely high memory chip prices, as well as Samsung's continued high CAPEX spending, outweighed the company's record financial results.
βΊ Samsung Electronics reported preliminary Q2 operating profit of 89.4 trillion won ($58.4 billion) - an increase of more than 1,800% year-over-year and a new (by far) all-time corporate record. Q2 revenue is estimated at 171 trillion won, up 129.3% from the same period last year. The extraordinary profit surge triggered a market reaction similar to what we previously saw with Micron, where exceptionally high margins also led to profit taking. Samsung closed nearly 7% lower in Korea, weighing on fellow memory chip makers SK Hynix and Micron.
βΊ As always, the only question is how long this rotation will last? Every sharp pullback in the semiconductor sector remains a buying opportunity in our view - and this one should be no exception. The inclusion of SpaceX (SPCX) in the Nasdaq index today is also creating some additional, albeit temporary, headwinds for the Nasdaq 100. Since SPCX enters the index with such a large market capitalization, several existing index constituents need to be sold, creating some short-term volatility.
βΊ We do not expect - nor are we currently seeing - broad-based selling. The Dow Jones and several European indices have reached new record highs, although we are beginning to see some profit taking in Europe as well.
βΊ While we could see some additional short-term selling pressure, we are building a LONG position here. The weakness in semiconductor stocks is simultaneously benefiting large software and big tech companies. This negative correlation that has developed over recent months makes little sense fundamentally, but reflects the perceived inverse relationship between buyers of AI infrastructure (hyperscalers) and manufacturers of AI chips and infrastructure. MSFT - one of yesterday's biggest laggards - is among today's strongest performers in pre-market trading (good for us).

πΉ Nasdaq (-1.0%) - is attempting to rebound from its pre-market lows. Yesterday's top performers (semiconductor stocks) are today's biggest laggards, and we could still see some additional selling initially. However, we have already bought the dip - something we have done very successfully over the past few days (currently 17 consecutive winning index trades). We are not seeing broad-based selling, neither in the Nasdaq nor - even less so - across the broader market. The majority of stocks are trading higher today. We keep our current TP unchanged for now (
πΉ Nvidia (-1.5%) - is opening significantly lower and is once again under short-term pressure from selling across the semiconductor sector. Samsung's (very strong) earnings report triggered concerns similar to those following Micron's earnings report in June - namely whether the exceptionally strong demand for AI and AI infrastructure can remain sustainable given the extremely high memory chip prices. KeyBanc reiterated its "Overweight" rating on NVDA.
πΉ Micron (-5.1%) - is opening sharply lower, with the memory sector being hit particularly hard by Samsung's decline. Together with SK Hynix and Micron, Samsung dominates the global memory market. We could initially see some additional panic selling (potentially down to or even slightly below $900) before MU rebounds - likely as early as tomorrow with strong gains.
πΉ Microsoft (+1.6%) - is opening sharply higher. My position has already been closed (I widened the TP to 392.79, which was triggered during European trading). If your broker does not offer pre-market trading for MSFT, the stock will likely open at a similar level, trigger our TP (
βΊ While I am not a fan of TSLA from a valuation perspective, we see some additional short-term upside following yesterday's sharp rebound from Thursday's heavy losses.
βΊ With SPCX joining the Nasdaq 100 today, optimism may return that Tesla could eventually become a potential acquisition target for SpaceX - although SPCX itself is likely to experience further losses initially.
βΊ TSLA is trading about 1% lower in pre-market trading (around 414.50) but still has some short-term upside potential. We may see some additional profit taking but expect rising support below 410.00. The main risk today is the heavy selling across the AI sector, which is also likely to weigh somewhat on TSLA.
Tesla (TSLA): Multiply your βstandard (EUR/USD)β position size by approx. 60β65x (6,000%β6,500%) β 3/5 position size.

140.50 - 141.00
βΊ We continue to see strong rotational movements between sectors. Following the sharp gains over the previous two trading sessions (only yesterday on Wall Street, as US markets were closed on Friday), semiconductor stocks are once again seeing significant selling pressure.
βΊ However, the losses in the semiconductor sector are not a broad withdrawal of capital from the equity market, but rather another rotation into other sectors - even within the technology sector itself. Hyperscalers and software companies, for example, are performing significantly better today (which also contributed to our very strong MSFT closing).
βΊ Other sectors - particularly defensive sectors as well as energy - are also posting strong gains today.
βΊ We can go SHORT XOM here, which is currently trading around 3% higher near 140.50. The energy sector is additionally benefiting from oil prices rising about 2% after Ukraine successfully struck a major oil refinery in Omsk, western Siberia. The attack caused a fire at the facility, located around 2,500 kilometers from Ukrainian territory and close to Russia's border with Kazakhstan.
βΊ βUpgraded Fire Point drones have put Siberia within reach of Ukrainian precision. This is a significant blow to Russiaβs oil economy and an important achievement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,β Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said.

βΊ Due to its recent and ongoing interventions, the Bank of Japan has managed to reduce JPY selling. Investors have now become more cautious about selling the yen, as another intervention could happen at any time.
βΊ The problem, however, is that the Bank of Japan already intervened aggressively on Thursday - just before the NFP report - temporarily supporting the yen. But that support proved to be only temporary. There is unlikely to be any effective way to strengthen the JPY significantly unless the BoJ is willing to raise interest rates further.
βΊ Given the current interest rate and yield environment, the yen remains unattractive - even though oil prices are still well below the highs seen during the US-Israel-Iran conflict (despite moving higher today following Ukraine's successful strikes against Russia's oil industry, which once again proved to be highly vulnerable and poorly protected).

Sep'26 futures contract!
βΊ We need to be a bit careful here not to build up too much exposure. Higher oil prices following Ukraine's successful strikes on Russia's oil industry, combined with another sell-off in the AI sector driven by concerns over extremely high valuations, create a difficult backdrop for risk sentiment today.
βΊ Despite the losses among the high-flyers, the majority of S&P 500 components are trading in positive territory today.
βΊ Overall, this is once again a sector rotation rather than a broad withdrawal of capital from the market.
βΊ In reality, Samsung's earnings report actually reinforced the long-term AI growth story. However, the extraordinary surge in revenue - and especially profits - raises questions about how sustainable this pace of growth really is?
βΊ We continue to see further downside potential for gold while simultaneously buying the sharp dip in the Nasdaq 100 well below the 29100 level (and therefore below Thursday's lows).
