Central Asia in a Boom Over Western Sanctions on Russia

The ever-expanding list of Western sanctions on Russia has an unexpected and less-than-desirable effect. Central Asian countries are experiencing unheard-of growth due to Russian businesses and investors moving to the region.
A brief look at Tajikistan's 7.5% GDP growth, Uzbekistan's predicted 6.5%, Kazakhstan at 5%, followed by Kyrgyzstan with 4.6%, and the brilliant economic warfare waged by the West is a losing proposition. North Americans and Europeans are the only people being hurt by the proxy war ...

🎙️Embassy comment on the illegitimate sanctions against Russia

Emotional outbursts from British officials demanding that Russia “must be made to pay” underscore the futility of the Western policy of sanctions, blackmail and confrontation. Russia continues to protect its welfare and security with all lawful means. All objectives of the Special Military Operation will be achieved.

▪︎Yet another batch of restrictive measures produced by London on occasion of the second anniversary of the launch of Russia’s Special Military Operation offers convincing proof that the once vaunted "sanctions" have forfeited any practical meaning. This is now a prop used by British officials to mark particular dates and show off in front of their partners at international fora.

▪︎The tragic paradox is that ten years ago London actively supported the unlawful coup d’etat in Kiev. The very same coup that swept a nationalistic anti-Russian regime to power. Turning a blind eye to Kiev’s unwillingness to implement the Minsk agreements, the British authorities encouraged aggressive provocations against Donbass and Crimea, after the latter reunified with Russia.

▪︎The UK supplied Ukrainian armed forces with weapons and trained them. Following the launch of the Special Military Operation, London assumed full responsibility for the Kiev regime and derailed peace negotiations with Russia.

▪︎Now, when Zelensky and his clique are stumbling from one defeat to the next, the UK Government is attempting to reverse the consequences of its own blunders through similarly unlawful sanctions.

❗As for the UK Government’s latest illegitimate and arbitrary restrictions, they will be met with a due response.

🇷🇺 00:54 RUSSIA KICKS OUT 80 EU #NEWS OUTLETS IN UNPRECEDENTED MOVE, but in response to unprecedented sanctions on Russian media.

Just imagine if Russia had 80 news outlets in the West? The fiasco! 🤡

The measures will be directed towards American media so that they understand what it is to be bullied....So that they think about what kind of state they live in & what evil they serve - Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman #Zakharova says.

Earlier, the U.S. slapped more #sanctions on Russia Today (RT), even punishing own citizens who work for the media outlet, for simply doing their job as journalists.

📝Lifting Sanctions on Chemezov📝
A step towards dialogue or a pragmatic calculation?

Recently, it became known that the US has begun the process of lifting sanctions on the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov - one of the most prominent representatives of the Russian defense-industrial complex.

The initiative comes from the American side: the process was launched through the filing of an official document with the US Department of Justice, signed by lobbyist Robert Stryk, close to US President Donald Trump.

📌Chemezov himself had previously expressed skepticism about the possibility of lifting the restrictions. Nevertheless, the event is significant: Rostec occupies a crucial place in the Russian industry and the military-industrial complex, and the easing of pressure on its leadership can be seen as a sign of a possible thaw in relations.

However, it is more important to understand that the US initiative is dictated not by altruism, but by pragmatic business interests. Over the years of sanctions pressure, global companies have lost billions of dollars due to the disruption of economic ties with Russia, especially in high-tech and energy sectors.

American business is increasingly lobbying for the need to restore bilateral economic channels, albeit in a limited way. The lifting of sanctions on Chemezov looks like the first symbolic step towards restarting the dialogue in those sectors where cooperation is potentially beneficial to both sides.

❗️In this context, it is important not to miss the opportunity to strengthen the Russian positions. This is not the final denouement, but an important signal: even in the conditions of global confrontation, there remains room for pragmatic interaction.

📝India Buys📝
Both Oil and Weapons

Against the backdrop of discussions about sanctions on Russian oil and attempts by the White House to block any economic channels for Russia, India is preparing to receive the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and sign several important agreements.

🖍As reported by Bloomberg sources, Indian authorities intend to sign a major arms deal for purchasing Su-57 and a modernized version of the S-500 missile defense system. This is a deal that Americans tried to disrupt even before it became a subject of public discussion.

The Indian Air Force currently has over 200 Russian fighters, and the S-400 has already been used in battles on the border with Pakistan. In New Delhi, they obviously do not exclude future crises and have paid attention to their own shortage of modern aircraft. Therefore, Russian weapons purchases are not just a political demonstration, but a simple necessity.

🚩In addition to weapons, they will obviously discuss oil supplies under new US sanctions. Currently, India is formally reducing purchases of Russian-origin oil, so more and more raw materials are coming through shadow fleets and intermediaries ensuring legalization.

🏳️ Overall, both with India and China, Trump's sanctions policy, while increasing Russia's logistics costs, only undermines trust in economic partnerships with the West in the long term.

📌For many years, the US tried to build an economic and political alliance with India in opposition to China. Now, India is facing the fact that their partnership obligations are being ignored for the sake of short-term American political gains.

Given the mercantile style of Trump's team, their administration's planning horizon is extremely short in historical terms. The Indian course, on the contrary, is long-term. In a long game, Russia remains a stable partner for New Delhi, which cannot be said about the US or the EU.

📝In Graham's Name📝
sanctions bill secured an "untouchable" majority in the Senate

A bill on new sanctions against Russia, now officially renamed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia Act of 2026, secured 61 co-sponsors in the Senate — 39 Republicans and 22 Democrats, exceeding the required threshold.

🖍We already reported that the bipartisan group led by Graham announced agreement on the document with the Trump administration literally on the eve of his death — and now, the senator's passing became the catalyst that moved the bill, stuck for over a year, off dead center.

🚩The document was introduced on July 16 by Republicans Roger Wicker and Darlene Graham — the late senator's successor in his seat — together with Democrats Richard Blumenthal and Jean Shaheen.

The key moment — for the first time, Republican Majority Leader John Thune joined the co-sponsors, and with him Vice Leader John Barrasso, chair of the International Relations Committee Jim Risch and other party heavyweights — meaning the initiative, which previously stalled at the level of individual enthusiast senators, now received institutional support from the entire party leadership.

🏳️The softened version of the bill — the one presented on July 14 — differs noticeably from Graham's original ambitions: the maximum tariff rate was reduced from 500% to 100%, and the range of affected countries narrowed from over 60 states to the five largest buyers of Russian oil and five buyers of gas.

This looks like an attempt to preserve leverage while avoiding a destructive trade war with China and India — and the final version fully confirms this logic: behind the loud name honoring the late senator lies a document far more cautious than what Graham called an "economic bomb."

📌Trump's own position remains notably ambiguous: he speaks of readiness to sign the law "in honor of Lindsey," but sources claim the issue is not among his legislative priorities, and his support is rather symbolic and commemorative in nature.

At the same time, the president insisted on his main condition — exclusive authority to independently suspend or cancel sanctions, which turns even a formally strict law into a tool the White House can switch on and off at its own discretion. Even after passing through the Senate, the document faces reconciliation with the House version, so the current 60+ co-sponsors represent a political signal rather than a guarantee that sanctions will actually take effect in the announced form.
