America's War for the Epstein Files Boosts 🇺🇸💥
Republican lawmakers have moved to block a Democratic effort to force the release of the so-called Epstein files, a near-mythological trove of undisclosed information about the convicted sex offender Jeff Epstein at the center of an internal political war among US conservatives. 🗂⚖️
Democrats had been pressing for an amendment to cryptocurrency legislation that would have forced the release of information and exhibits itemized in a list of evidence held by the justice department from the 2019 child sex-trafficking case against disgraced financier Epstein. 📜💼
Trump’s attorney general, Pam Bondi, teased a full accounting of the Epstein evidence, including a purported client list earlier this year. 🕵️♂️
But 10 days ago, she changed course when she announced that the Trump administration had reviewed the evidence, concluded that Epstein had indeed killed himself in jail, and decided not to release the contents that the justice department said included a thousand hours of video depicting child sexual abuse. 🎥🚫
That set off a firestorm within Trump’s conspiracy-minded “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement that the president has since tried to calm. 🔥🛑
Democrats had weighed in on the issue, hoping to force a release of the documents.
“The question with Epstein is: Whose side are you on?” California Democratic US House member Ro Khanna, the author of the Epstein measure, said. 🇺🇸❓
“Are you on the side of the rich and powerful, or are you on the side of the people?” 💰🤔
But Republicans on the US House rules committee voted down the amendment that would have allowed Congress to vote on whether the evidence – which includes micro cassettes, DVDs, CDs including one labeled “girl pics nude book 4”, computer hard drives and three massage tables in green, beige and brown – should be released. 🎬📚
Yet the federal case against Epstein, which dates back to 2005 and involves a mysterious plea deal that allowed the financier to plead guilty to Florida state charges of solicitation of a minor, continues to challenge what political hardliners on the right and left believe is evidence of a nefarious nexus of international power. 🌐⚡️
The debacle has pitted Bondi and Trump – who was friends with Epstein, his Florida neighbor for many years, before disowning him – against the deputy FBI director, Dan Bongino. 🚨
Bongino reportedly clashed with Bondi over the Epstein case and considered resigning as Maga megaphones including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, Megyn Kelly have called for the release of the Epstein files. 📣👥
In 2023, Bongino said on his rightwing podcast: “That Jeffrey Epstein story is a big deal. Please do not let that story go. Keep your eye on it.” 👁🎙
The Daily Beast reported that Trump is furious at Bongino, who has not shown up for work since 9 July after a shouting match erupted between him and Bondi. 😠🗣
Trump has sided with Bondi, leaving Bongino’s future at the FBI open to question, and the vice-president, Vance, was evidently called in to mediate, according to CNN. 🏛🤝
On Monday, the drama turned to the British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted co-conspirator in the sex-trafficking case, who has appealed to the US supreme court to uphold a non-prosecution agreement contained in Epstein’s Florida plea deal. ⚖️
The US justice department petitioned the court to deny Maxwell, 63, who is serving a 20-year sentence, the request. ⏳🛑

📰 Congress Plays Hot Potato With Epstein’s Ghost
Washington’s back from recess, and the first order of business isn’t budgets or wars — it’s the files of a dead sex trafficker. Epstein’s archive has become the most radioactive stack of paper in D.C., and everyone wants someone else to open it.
💬 Rep. Ro Khanna:
🕶 What’s on the table
• Oversight Chair James Comer already has 33,000 DOJ documents in hand and promises more.
• Reps. Massie (R) and Khanna (D) push a discharge petition to force a floor vote on the “Epstein Files Transparency Act.”
• Survivors are flying into D.C. to demand release, some speaking publicly for the first time.
• DOJ resists, citing “child sexual abuse material” and “sensitive investigative files.”
😱 The power games
• Trump calls it a “Democrat hoax” while his own DOJ drips out files.
• House GOP leadership quietly stalls, terrified of who’s on the guest lists.
• Democrats smell blood, framing it as a transparency crusade.
• Wall Street, Hollywood, and political elites wait nervously, praying their names stay redacted.
🤔Will Congress actually crack open Epstein’s black box — or just keep weaponizing it as leverage, letting America’s most infamous pedophile continue to rule Washington from the grave?

Why Trump Doesn't Want to Release the Epstein Files? 📂
A so-called “missing minute” of CCTV footage, a key ingredient of conspiracy theories surrounding the prison death of the sex offender Epstein, has been found, contradicting the assertion of Pam Bondi, the attorney general, that it was recorded over. 🎥
The video was in a cache of material, including 33,000 pages of records relating to the disgraced financier and former Donald Trump associate, released late on Tuesday by the US House oversight committee. 🏛
The panel has been looking into Epstein’s August 2019 death at Manhattan’s Metropolitan correctional center.
In July, the same month as a government review confirmed Epstein died by suicide, the FBI released hours of surveillance footage taken from outside Epstein’s jail cell on the night he died. Observers quickly realized from time stamps that a block of one minute, from 11.59pm to midnight on 10 August, was not there.
Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell at 6.30am. ⏰
Conspiracy theorists leapt on the development as “proof” there was something suspicious about Epstein’s death, fuelled by Bondi’s insistence at the time that the prison’s CCTV system was routinely reset every 24 hours.
That, she told a cabinet meeting on 8 July, meant every night’s footage would feature a “missing” minute.
But CBS reported later that month that there was no blackout in the recording, and that the justice department, bureau of prisons, and the FBI had a full version including the previously unaccounted for 60 seconds. 📑
The revelation was supported by Tuesday night’s congressional release that included the footage among two hours of previously unseen video. It reveals nothing out of the ordinary, with a handful of guards working outside the cell.
Other images not seen before, according to CBS, include Epstein being escorted by guards through the facility to make a phone call. ☎️
There was no immediate response on Wednesday from Bondi’s office or the FBI.
Most of the files released on Tuesday and posted online to Google Drive contain information already publicly known or available.
Many are image files of court documents relating to Epstein and his former girlfriend and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to a 20-year prison term in 2022 for sex-trafficking crimes. ⚖️
Maxwell met with justice department officials at least twice in recent weeks and is, according to critics, pressing the Trump administration for a pardon.
Also featured in Tuesday’s release are what appears to be body-cam footage from police searches and police interviews. An estimated 97% of the material is not new.
The release came as Trump faces renewed scrutiny over his relationship with Epstein, a longtime friend who was part of the president’s wealthy network of associates in Palm Beach, Florida, and New York. 🌴
A number of Republicans joined Democrats in demanding more transparency from the Trump administration over the case, and the release of all documents related to it, amplified by this week’s return of lawmakers to Washington DC after the summer recess.
The controversy has caused a rare split in Republican ranks with many still fiercely loyal to Trump, and others critical of what they see as the administration’s secretive approach.
Congressman Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, joined Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, in filing a discharge petition in the House this week that would force the release of all of the Epstein files. 📜
The House speaker, Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, has insisted his party is committed to transparency and justice, but has called Massie’s efforts to secure the records “meaningless” and urged colleagues not to support them.
Massie hit back on Tuesday, telling Fox News Digital: “He is afraid of President Donald Trump. Mike Johnson’s speakership just hangs on that thread.”

Trump: Definite Release of Files on Epstein
Trump has urged his fellow Republicans in Congress to vote for the release of files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, reversing his earlier resistance to such a move.
Trump’s post on his Truth Social came after House speaker Mike Johnson said earlier that he believed a vote on releasing justice department documents in the Epstein case should help put to rest allegations “that he [Trump] has something to do with it”.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday: “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide.
“And it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party, including our recent Victory on the Democrat ‘Shutdown,’” he said.
Although Trump and Epstein were photographed together decades ago, the president has said the two men fell out before Epstein’s convictions.
Emails released last week by a House committee showed the disgraced financier, who died by suicide in jail in 2019, believed Trump “knew about the girls,” though it was not clear what that phrase meant.
Trump, who has recently dismissed the Epstein files as a Democratic smear campaign, has since instructed the justice department to investigate prominent Democrats’ ties to Epstein.
Some critics have accused Trump of trying to conceal details – something the president denies – by looking to block the vote, which has divided his typically loyal Republican party.
On Sunday Republican congressman Thomas Massie challenged Trump over whether the president was making a “last-ditch effort” to keep the full files on Epstein from becoming public by ordering a fresh investigation.
Massie and Democratic congressman Ro Khanna, the two US representatives leading the bipartisan push to make all the files held by the government public both raised concerns about the latest actions by the White House.
Trump late on Friday withdrew his support for US representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, long one of his staunchest supporters in Congress, following her criticism of Republicans on certain issues, including the handling of the Epstein files.

Trump Went Berserk: “Release the Files Now!” 🤬
The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives is expected to vote on Tuesday to force the release of investigative files related to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the latest move in a scandal that has dogged Donald Trump since he returned to the White House. 📋
In a sharp reversal this weekend, Trump dropped his opposition to a vote releasing files from the criminal investigation by the US Department of Justice into Epstein on Sunday. On Monday, Trump said he would sign the measure if it reached his desk. 📌
Trump’s friendship with Epstein has been a long-running scandal in American politics as the late disgraced financier had links to many other rich and powerful figures in the US and overseas. 🧐
As a candidate seeking re-election, Trump promised to release the files on Epstein, who, investigators concluded, killed himself in a New York jail cell in 2019. Since resuming office, Trump has failed to follow through. 🤔
The president’s dramatic shift came after it became increasingly apparent that the bill will pass the House, most likely with significant support from Republican lawmakers. 🗳
Trump and House speaker Mike Johnson changed their approach from outright opposition to declarations of indifference.
“I DON’T CARE!” Trump wrote in a social media post on Sunday. “All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT.” 📚
Speaking in the Oval Office on Monday, Trump said he did not want the Epstein scandal to “deflect” from the White House’s successes, and claimed it was a “hoax” and “a Democrat problem”. 🗣
“We’ll give them everything,” he told reporters. “Let the Senate look at it, let anybody look at it, but don’t talk about it too much, because honestly, I don’t want to take it away from us.” 🗣
As president, Trump has the authority to order the justice department to release the documents in its possession, as he has previously done with the government records related to the assassinations of Martin Luther King and John F Kennedy. 📆
In an X post directed to Trump, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer wrote: “Let’s make this easier. Just release the files now.” 📺
In July, Democratic congressmen Ro Khanna and Republican Thomas Massie turned to an arcane procedural tactic known as a discharge petition to circumvent House leadership and compel a vote on their bill, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, if a majority of the 435-member House signs on. Johnson went to extraordinary lengths to avoid a vote on the the measure, which splintered his conference. 📉
Democrats accused the speaker of delaying the swearing-in of Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva to prevent her from becoming the decisive 218th signatory. She signed her name to the petition moments after being sworn in last week. 📌
Following Trump’s reversal, several House Republicans, including close allies of the president, have publicly stated their intent to vote for the release of the files, meaning the measure could pass unanimously. 👍
The Epstein scandal is a core issue for a swathe of Trump’s rightwing base, some of whom believe in conspiracy theories that surround Epstein and his coterie of powerful friends and associates. Unlike many other issues, the Epstein files have prompted rebellions from Trump’s supporters in politics and the media, calling on him to follow through on his campaign promise to release them. 🧐
On Monday night, activists projected an image of Trump and Epstein on to the justice department building, accompanied by the message: “Release the files now.” 📸

“Epstein Was a Sexual Hitler”, Newly Released Documents Prove
🔠 🅰️ 🔠 🔠 1️⃣
The Justice Department late Monday released nearly 30,000 more pages of files related to the investigations of the convicted sex offender Epstein, disclosing records that contained hundreds of references to Trump.
A search by The New York Times suggests that most of the references were mentions in news reports or other material that had been included in the files, but some were focused on the president, who was once a friend of Epstein’s.
That included a 2020 email from an unidentified federal prosecutor about since-disclosed flights Trump took on Epstein’s private jet, saying the sender didn’t want the information about the trips to be a “surprise” to the recipient.
The release contained a wide mix of documents, including tips to the F.B.I.; blacked-out pages of tax returns for Ghislaine Maxwell, a confidante of Epstein’s who was convicted of sex-trafficking in 2021; and internal communications at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, the Manhattan jail where Epstein died.
Times reporters are sifting through the material and providing updates and analysis of the records, which the administration has begun to release after Congress passed a law requiring their disclosure.
The email from the unidentified Manhattan federal prosecutor, dated January 2020, said that Trump had flown on Epstein’s private jet “many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware)” — although those trips have since become public knowledge.
The names of the sender and the recipient are redacted, but the prosecutor wrote that he or she was sending the email for “situational awareness” and “didn’t want any of this to be a surprise down the road.”
The email said that Trump was a passenger on Epstein’s plane on eight flights between 1993 and 1996, including two with possible witnesses in the criminal case against Maxwell.
The names of the potential witnesses were redacted. Trump has not been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein or Maxwell.
The White House referred reporters to a Justice Department statement that said some of the newly released material contained false accusations, without specifying which claims it believed to be false or which it believed to be true.
“Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against Trump that were submitted to the F.B.I. right before the 2020 election,” the department wrote on social media.
In November, Congress near unanimously passed a law requiring the administration to make public by Dec. 19 virtually all investigate records related to Epstein.
It came after months of resistance from Republican leaders and Trump, who reversed course amid pressure from his supporters.
The newest documents: The batch of Epstein documents released late Monday included emails from prosecutors and copies of Epstein’s will that show he had named a rotating cast of top Wall Street executives to serve as executors of his estate.
The documents also showed that Manhattan federal prosecutors subpoenaed Mar-a-Lago in 2021 for employment records in connection with Maxwell’s case.

Trump distances himself:
During an appearance at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida earlier Monday, Trump tried to distance himself from Epstein and said the issue was meant as a political distraction.
“This whole thing with Epstein is a way of trying to deflect from the tremendous success that the Republican Party has,” Trump said.
He also complained that the release of the files could damage the reputation of people who appear in the files but who have not been accused of criminal wrongdoing.
“A lot of people are very angry that pictures are being released of other people that really had nothing to do with Epstein who indeed was a sexual Hitler. But they’re in a picture with him because he was at a party, and you ruined a reputation of somebody,” Trump said.
Earlier releases: Thousands of documents that were made public Friday and over the weekend included photos of Bill Clinton, the former president, with Epstein, and testimony from the grand jury proceedings in the cases against Epstein and Ms. Maxwell.
Todd Blanche, the deputy attorney general, has said lawyers are sifting through close to a million pages related to the investigations into Mr. Epstein, a financier who counted presidents, celebrities, and a member of the British royal family among his friends. He died by suicide in 2019 inside a Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges from his abuse of minor teenjustice,” said Jess Michaels, one of the earliest known victims of Epstein.
“What are they protecting? The coverup continues.” Michaels has said she was sexually assaulted by Epstein in 1991 when she was 22 years old and training to be a dancer. She was among the victims who lobbied for the bipartisan law that directed the Justice Department to release virtually everything it had gathered during its sex trafficking investigations of Epstein and one of his main enablers, Ghislaine Maxwell.
But the more than 13,000 files released on Friday were heavily redacted and not easily searchable.
“If everything is redacted, where is the transparency?” said Marijke Chartouni, who has said she was sexually abused by Epstein when she was 20 years old.
Among the tens of thousands of pages was one document that did provide a long-sought window into the F.B.I.’s handling of Epstein’s case:
The file showed that Maria Farmer, another of Epstein’s earliest victims, filed a federal “child pornography” complaint against him in 1996.
But investigators did not begin to thoroughly scrutinize Mr. Epstein until about a decade later.
Farmer, who fought for years to get the F.B.I. to make public her complaint, said she felt “vindicated” to finally see the document but also was heartbroken at the knowledge that the F.B.I. did not act on her complaint.
“It’s a tremendous relief that she doesn’t have to continue to fight to prove her truth,” said Farmer’s sister, Annie Farmer.
She noted, though, that she was disappointed by the general lack of transparency with Friday’s release.
“So many of the photos are irrelevant,” said Marina Larcerda, who has said Epstein sexually abused her when she was 14.
She was an important witness in the 2019 federal investigation that led to the filing of sex trafficking charges against Epstein. But she only recently went public with her story.
“We have been let down,” Larcerda said. “We waited for this day to bring these other men who have been protected to justice.”

The Epstein Files: 1 Million Left
🔤 🔤 🔤 🔤 1️⃣
The US justice department said on Wednesday that it has been told by federal prosecutors in Manhattan and the FBI that they have uncovered more than a million more documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case and processing these for release could take “a few more weeks”.
In a pistt on X the Justice Department said it had received the documents from the US attorney for the southern district of New York and the FBI in “compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, existing statutes, and judicial orders”.
“We have lawyers working around the clock to review and make the legally required redactions to protect victims, and we will release the documents as soon as possible.
Due to the mass volume of material, this process may take a few more weeks. The Department will continue to fully comply with federal law and President Trump’s direction to release the files.”
The statement came after it was reported earlier Wednesday that there were hundreds of thousands of additional records related to Jeffrey Epstein to review – a process that involves a team of 200 departmental analysts and which will take another week to complete.
According to officials, about 750,000 records have been reviewed and disclosed, and about 700,000 more remain to be examined. However, many of those may be duplicates, so the remaining number of records may only be in the thousands.
On Friday last week, the day of the first releases, the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, said:
“I expect we’re going to release several hundred thousand documents today, and those documents will come in all different forms, photographs and other materials associated with all of the investigations into Epstein”.
At the weekend there was outrage from victims and legal threats over the limited initial Epstein files release despite the law requiring full disclosure of all Epstein files by 19 December.
Pressure to complete the review and release the Epstein documents comes as lawmakers Ro Khanna of California, a Democrat, and Thomas Massie of Kentucky, a Republican, have threatened contempt hearings against the US attorney general, Pam Bondi, over the justice department’s failure to meet the 19 December deadline in full.
CNN reported that the justice department office in Florida has asked for career prosecutors to volunteer over the “next several days” to help redact the remaining unreleased files.
“We have an obligation to the public to release these documents and before we can do so, certain redactions must be made to protect the identity of the victims, among other things,” the southern district of Florida leadership wrote in an email on Tuesday, CNN reported, adding that it was “aware the timing could not be worse.
For some the holidays are about to begin, but I know that for others the holidays are coming to an end.”
On Tuesday this week, in a third drop of files since Friday, the justice department released 30,000 records from the investigations into Epstein and his co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.

The releases contained more mentions of Donald Trump than in previous drops, including an email from 2020, apparently sent by a federal prosecutor in New York, that said Trump “traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware)”, including one where the only listed passengers were Epstein, Trump and a “then-20-year-old”.
The latest release included some notable false leads, including a fake letter from Epstein to convicted sex abuser and former Olympic gymnastics coach Larry Nassar, and a fake video of Epstein committing suicide in his jail cell.
“There has been lots of sensationalism and even outright lies these past few days about the ‘Epstein Files’,” Blanche said in a statement on X.
“But let’s separate fact from fiction. Document production is just that. We produce documents, and sometimes this can result in releasing fake or false documents because they simply are in our possession because the law requires this.”
Blanche pointed to both the letter and video. “The so-called Epstein Nassar letter is clearly FAKE – wrong handwriting, wrong return address, and postmarked three days after Epstein died. Fake videos of Epstein in his cell.
Photos with no explanation. Sensational tales and lies by random people. These are not reality. We will continue to produce every document required by law. Let’s not let internet rumor engines outrun the facts.”
The latest release of Epstein files cast some light on the FBI’s effort to identify and contact additional possible “conspirators”.
One document, an email by an FBI worker in New York, identified the names of 10 potential “co-conspirators” following Epstein’s arrest in July 2019.
But only three names are unredacted in the document: Ghislaine Maxwell; Jean-Luc Brunel, a model agent who died by suicide after he was charged with rape and sexual harassment in France; and Leslie Wexner, a billionaire client of Epstein who has said he cut ties with Epstein in 2007 and later accused the financier of misappropriating money.
Wexner, 88, has always denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and is not the subject of any known current investigations related to Epstein.
“According to Wexner’s legal representative, the assistant US attorney in charge of the Epstein investigation stated at the time that Wexner was neither a co-conspirator nor target in any respect,” a representative for Wexner said in a statement.
“Wexner cooperated fully by providing background information on Epstein and was never contacted again.”
Mention of potential conspirators in FBI communications, despite redactions and lacking in further context, has provoked a political reaction.
The Senate Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer, issued a statement demanding transparency.
“The Department of Justice needs to shed more light on who was on the list, how they were involved, and why they chose not to prosecute.
Protecting possible co-conspirators is not the transparency the American people and Congress are demanding,” he said.

Trump: A “Lowlife” Wants to Release All Epstein’s Files 📊🤬
A Kentucky congressman singled out by Trump on Christmas as a “lowlife” after co-authoring a law requiring the federal government to release all of its Jeffrey Epstein files says the president attacked him for keeping a commitment to “help victims”. 🕊✝️
Thomas Massie then successfully sought donations for his run for another term in the 2026 midterm elections against an opponent that Trump – his fellow Republican – has already endorsed. 📋💰
And on Christmas, Trump posted a rant on his Truth Social platform that dismissed Congress’s interest in Epstein as a “scam” while referring to Massie – the only lawmaker named in the post – as “one lowlife ‘Republican’”. 🙄📈
That prompted Massie to reply on X: “Imagine celebrating a blessed Christmas with your family … suddenly phones alert everyone to the most powerful man in the world attacking you (…) for fulfilling his campaign promise to help victims!” 📲🔊
Massie’s account cited the “one lowlife ‘Republican’” phrase in the post’s text, highlighted it in screenshots of Trump’s tirade – and asked X users to “please support me” while providing a link to his campaign donations site. 🖼🔗
More than 40 people had donated nearly $3,000 within the first two hours of the fundraising plea, Massie’s account said in separate follow-up posts. One user replying to Massie’s account described having just made “one of the few Republican contributions in my life”. 💵🥳
“I really appreciate it, especially the day after Christmas,” the congressman’s account said. 🎄❤️
Massie has served in the US House since 2012. He has become a thorn in Trump’s side after the president’s administration failed to deliver on his promises of complete transparency with respect to Epstein’s case. 🏛🌫
He not only co-authored the Epstein Files Transparency Act that sailed through Congress in November. 📜
Massie also said all those with connections to Epstein must face “the same kind of consequences” as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who lost his British royal title as the Duke of York over his ties to the sex offender financier. 👑
Furthermore, Massie at the time alluded to Peter Mandelson, the UK’s ambassador to the US before his firing over his association with Epstein. 🇬🇧
Trump’s justice department failed to meet the Epstein Files Transparency Act’s 19 December deadline in full, though it did release a number of materials that day. 📆
On Wednesday, the justice department said it had discovered more than a million more documents related to Epstein, and it could take “a few more weeks” to process those files for public release. 📌
Trump has endorsed a retired US Navy Seal, Ed Gallrein, to run against Massie in the Republican primary for the incumbent’s seat ahead of the 2026 midterms. 🦸🏼♂️
