After the 2020 standoff in Ladakh the Army realised its 45-50 tonne T-72s and T-90s were the wrong tools for the Himalayas.
-China had Type 15. Purpose-built 33-tonne mountain tank
-India had nothing like it.
-So in 2021 the Army asked for a light tank of its own!
DRDO and L&T built the Zorawar tank to exactly that spec.
In 2024 Zorawar got to Nyoma by air lift -and underwent firing trials.
Basically they are just delaying

BUT THERE IS A TWIST- Army now wants the armour beefed up to stop 30mm Chinese autocannon rounds. -for a project whose entire point is weight nobody has said how much the new tank will weight.
What the new spec runs into: --The Army now wants it to stop 25mm and 30mm armour-piercing darts, the rounds on China's Type 04A and Type 08 infantry fighting vehicles -Thicker armour means renegotiating with a Belgian turret maker and an American engine supplier. -This mostly means:- "redesign"
Basically they are just delaying

ONGC strikes gas in the deep waters of Mahanadi Basin. MDW-28, the maiden well of ONGCโs current deepwater campaign in the Mahanadi Basin is flowing gas with encouraging rates and sustained reservoir pressure. The campaign was launched on 25 July 2026 by the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, aligned with the Government's Samudra Manthan initiative.
