VfL Bochum 1848 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Bayern Munich is hiring a new manager...again. With the news dropping earlier today that Bayern Munich will part ways with head coach Thomas Tuchel, the club is now moving on searching for its next manager. Abendzeitung reporter Maximilian Koch tweeted out that there is no confirmed replacement for Tuchel just yet: The successor to #Tuchel for the summer has not yet been determined, the intensive search starts now. The hope of the Munich team is that the early announcement of the separation will now have a liberating effect on the players and also on Tuchel. Will that work? #FCBayern @AbendzeitungSky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting that Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is a serious candidate: X News Xabi #Alonso: The 42 y/o is now the absolute top candidate to replace Thomas #Tuchel at the end of the season ✔️As exclusively revealed today: Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season! @SkySportDESport Bild’s Christian Falk has information that Bayern Munich will attempt to stop Alonso from making a move to Liverpool FC: True✅ Bayern will try to highjack a Transfer-Deal of @LFC Liverpool with Xabi Alonso, if Alonso decide to leave Bayer Leverkusen in Summer @BILD_SportWhile Falk’s wording is a bit all over the place, you get the point. If Alonso is leaving Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich will make an effort to keep him in Germany. Plettenberg also noted that Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp will not be the coach at Bayern Munich next season: The possibility of Jürgen #Klopp becoming the coach of FC Bayern in the summer is currently “100 %“ ruled out, sources confirm. ➡️ Klopp remains firmly committed to taking a one-year break! @SkySportDEBayern Munich’s next move will be key — and needs to be a viable, long-term candidate for a club, whose managerial situation has been in a constant state of flub since Pep Guardiola was at the helm. Bayer 04 Leverkusen v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Mika Volkmann/Getty Images Does Bayern Munich have its man? According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabo Alonso is open to joining Bayern Munich this summer. Current Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season and Alonso has been considered by many to be the top choice of the Bavarians to take over. The catch in the situation is the big fee — reportedly €15 to €25 million — that is associated with Alonso should any club come calling to Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Next summer Alonso would be a little cheaper (though not much in the grand scheme of things): News #Alonso: FC Bayern is planning the next steps now as Alonso is still open to join Bayern in summer - as always reported and confirmed again ✔️But: Alonso would become very, very expensive! ➡️ In this summer, he definitely doesn’t have a written release clause in his contract. The transfer fee is negotiable. Bayern informed now ➡️ If Alonso wants to leave Bayer 04 this summer already, all parties assume that Leverkusen will demand between €15-25m! ➡️ Alonso will only have a written release clause in the summer of 2025! In the range of €15m … Will Bayern Munich invest into another big transfer fee for a coach like it for Julian Nagelsmann?Looking for more thoughts and analysis of the Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and SC Freiburg? Xabi Alonso Photo by Federico Gambarini/picture alliance via Getty Images The circle of candidates grows smaller — and at the top now is Nagelsmann and Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi Top managerial prospect Xabi Alonso has now made it clear that he would like to stay with Bayer Leverkusen for at least another season amidst heavy links to both Bayern Munich and Liverpool, both of whom are actively in search of a replacement manager. Now both clubs will have to turn their attention elsewhere.Per a recent update from Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg, Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi and Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann are currently the frontrunners in the now-smaller circle of candidates to replace Tuchel: FC Bayern have prepared for a rejection from Xabi #Alonso and therefore spoken with many candidates!➡️ Bayern now has only a small circle of candidates left‼️ Among them are De Zerbi and Nagelsmann! Rangnick has been discussed. He is valued, but currently not among the top choices - confirmed again!➡️ Bayern would like to present the new coach in April.@SkySportDE In addition to Nagelsmann, De Zerbi, and Rangnick, Zinedine Zidane has also been linked with succeeding Thomas Tuchel at Bayern. None, however, was more favored than Alonso. Notably, Plettenberg reports it is Bayern’s aim to have decided on and presented the club’s new manager by some point in April, before the current season concludes. A decision could therefore be in place by the time Bayern hosts Arsenal FC at the Allianz Arena in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

FC Bayern Munich Training Session Photo by F. Noever/FC Bayern via Getty Images Can Bayern Munich topple Benfica on Wednesday? City might really be in on Musiala, Wirtz for 2025 (Football Insider)There have been some whispers that Manchester City is eager to bring in both Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala and Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz during the summer. While it does seem extremely unlikely, City could be shedding enough high-priced talent from its roster to make things work financially: Man City are plotting deals to sign German superstar duo Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, sources have told Football Insider. Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Pep Guardiola’s side are lining up the two big-name stars as potential replacements for Kevin de Bruyne.Football Insider revealed on 2 November that City are set to step up their efforts to sign a high-profile replacement for the midfielder, with the Bundesliga stars at the top of their list.Musiala and Wirtz, both 21 years old, have attracted interest in elite sides from across Europe including Real Madrid, and City are expected to push hard to convince them to move to England. The former is said to have been on their radar for a long time, and sources say they will do “everything they possibly can” to bring him to the Etihad. However, as Football Insider revealed in October, Bayern Munich remain the favourites to land a deal for Wirtz after his performances for Bayer Leverkusen. As even stated in the Football Insider story, it seems like Bayern Munich is far more likely to have both players next summer, but nothing is set in concrete for either Musiala or Wirtz. In any event, it seems like Musiala and Bayern Munich are getting very close to a deal. As for Wirtz, it is tough to say how his situation might play out, but it has been reported many times that Bayern Munich is likely the favorite. Hoeneß favorite to take over Leverkusen (@Plettigoal)Even with Bayer Leverkusen not being as good as it was last season, Xabi Alonso is still considered to be one of the top coaches in all of Europe, That said, there is expected to be a strong push from any major club with a job opening next summer to go after Alonso.Even clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City have Alonso high on their respective list of candidates should their current coaches (Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola) actually step away. FC Bayern München v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Is Leon Goretzka in hs final weeks with Bayern Munich? Spurs an option for Goretzka? One pundit thinks so (TeamTalk)It has been rumored for months that Bayern Munich would like to sell off Leon Goretzka. Luckily for the Bavarians, that did not happen given the injuries to both Aleksandar Pavlović and João Palhinha. Goretzka is now playing a key role, but it does not change the fact the Bayern Munich front office still wants to sell him in January or next summer. If that happens, Lothar Matthäus think several clubs should be interested in Goretzka, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan: Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka has been told to consider a move to Tottenham Hotspur amid Manchester United keeping tabs on his situation.Throughout most of his time at Bayern, Goretzka has generally been a mainstay in central midfield. However, the German had a frustrating start to the season as he was largely left on the bench by new manager Vincent Kompany. Things have improved for Goretzka of late, as he has completed a full 90 minutes in Bayern’s recent wins over Augsburg in the Bundesliga and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. But the player is still considering his options as he knows he faces tough competition for a starting spot from the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer, Joao Palhinha and Aleksandar Pavlovic, when the latter pair are fit. Goretzka could put himself in a good position to secure a transfer in summer 2025 by refusing to sign a new contract, with his current deal due to expire in June 2026.Germany icon Lothar Matthaus has now mentioned Tottenham and Man Utd as being potential suitors for Goretzka. In an interview with Bild, Matthaus was asked to name the perfect club for the 29-year-old. “Inter Milan,” he replied. “The Italian league would be a good fit. Consistency is required there, toughness, physical play. I don’t necessarily see him at a top 5 club in Europe, but he can help all the other clubs. Inter, Man Utd, Tottenham, Atlético Madrid, he would fit in very well there.”It remains to be seen whether Spurs will take Matthaus’ advice on board and begin negotiations for Goretzka. But such a move would alert United.Goretzka’s recent appearances are allowing him the opportunity to sell himself. While he does not want to leave Bavaria, it does appear as if Max Eberl has fully moved on from him (at least mentally). Where do you think Goretzka would fit best?Alonso not ready to talk future (@Plettigoal)Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is rumored to be leaving the club this summer, but do not expect him to touch on the subject as his team is battling for its position in all three competitions that is alive in: ⚫️ Xabi #Alonso about his future:

If you have not been keeping up with the ins-and-out of the Bundesliga coaching carousel, then hop aboard and let’s catch up on things at Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen. (Thankfully, Bayern Munich is not involved in these proceedings)Mike Tullberg is manning the interim gig at Borussia Dortmund, but things are hazy regarding who might get the job permanently. (@Plettigoal)Former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovač is under consideration by Borussia Dortmund, but Erik ten Hag is not (at least not right now) per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg: ⚫️ There were new considerations and discussions today, but Erik ten Hag will NOT become the head coach of Borussia Dortmund at this time. The transfer package is currently too expensive for Dortmund, and he remains on Manchester United’s payroll. #MUFCInstead, #BVB are in talks with Niko #Kovac.Alonso expected to leave Leverkusen in Summer ‘25 or ‘26 (@Plettigoal)Plettenberg reported that Xabi Alonso is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen either this summer or next: ⚪️ At Bayer 04 Leverkusen, there is a common expectation that Xabi #Alonso will become the coach of Real Madrid either this summer or next year. This is partly because all other major managerial positions – Liverpool, Bayern, Manchester City – are currently filled, and Real Madrid see him as the logical successor to Carlo Ancelotti. However, at the moment, Leverkusen have no information indicating that Alonso will step down as their coach this summer.Kovač, Fischer under consideration for BVB (@Plettigoal)Borussia Dortmund Niko Kovač and Urs Fischer are two of the prime candidates to take over the vacant post: ⚫️ Niko #Kovac is open to becoming Borussia Dortmund’s coach, as reported. Initial contact with his management took place on Thursday. However, Kovac would prefer to sign a contract until the end of the season, with an option for one or two additional seasons.Currently, it seems unlikely that #BVB will grant him this option, which is why the club are also considering other candidates, such as Urs #Fischer.More on Kovač, Fischer (@Plettigoal)Plettenberg checked in to add more info on Borussia Dortmund: ⚫️ Urs #Fischer is another candidate Borussia Dortmund have considered in the past few hours. #BVBThe former Union Berlin coach is reportedly willing to take over only until the end of the season, according to @berger_pj.However, the Niko #Kovac deal is still on.Secret meeting in Austria for BVB, Kovač (@Plettigoal)Who doesn’t love a good secret meeting to add intrigue to a situation? Check this out: ⚫️ #BVB bosses held talks with Niko #Kovac during a secret meeting in Austria, as per @RNBVB and confirmed.Dortmund want Kovac to take over until the summer. However, Kovac insists on a contract running at least until 2026 or 2027.BVB, on the other hand, are looking for a temporary solution so they can unveil a more prominent choice in the summer, such as Sebastian Hoeneß or Roger Schmidt. If negotiations with Kovac fail, it remains possible that Mike Tullberg will coach on an interim basis until the end of the season. Is Bayern Munich setting the bar too low for itself with some of the decisions that it is making?
